[News] Dean Pees Sees Leadership Similarities Between Junior Seau And Eric Weddle

4 posts in this topic

As long as you have leaders that are all on the same page and working together for the same goal then it can work out great. There was a time when we had too many cooks in the kitchen and divided leadership that ultimately resulted in a downfall of this team and the firing of the first super bowl winning coach the Ravens had.

Weddle realizes that Mosley will be looked upon as the leader of the defense and that's a good thing because Mosley is the future of this team. Weddle realizes that he can help as a leader for the secondary, who desperately need some guidance. Too many times I saw blown coverage giving up huge plays that should have never happened. He's also smart enough and has enough experience to get guys lined up when audibles are called. Do you remember last season when defensive backs would all be looking at each other with arms outstretched as if to ask, "What are we doing?"

I think Leslie Frazier being signed on to coach the secondary is a first huge key. Adding Weddle to the back end to sure up a very big weakness for us is another one. Obviously the health of Jimmy Smith and how well Webb can translate to FS will matter a great deal as well. But, instead of last year feeling there was no real hope for this unit, I feel this secondary can be much better.

billick said he had a leader within each position group on defense and that is why they were so successful on defense. we have weddle in the secondary, moseley/suggs at lb and hopefully we see b. williams take over that d-line. need more offensive leaders aside for sss. flacco is respected but not the kind of guy to give motivational speeches like ray and ed did. yanda does his talking by crushing guys and hopefully stanley joins him

I'm 27, from Santa Cruz, and have been a die hard Ravens fan for 10+ years. Don't know what the chances are of my 2 favorite athletes ever joining the Ravens after I jumped on board- Q and SSS. Now Weddle??? he's not my 3rd favorite athlete, but he's always been one of my very favorite NFL players. This guy is a FOOTBALL player. I don't think the casual Weddle fan has any idea about how much positive impact this guy is bringing to the Ravens. I remember checking rotoworld for about a week straight just looking for the post saying we signed him. I was sitting in the bathroom when I finally saw it and let out the biggest roar and shout of joy! My roomate thought I won the Lotto at the time and was super confused....lol
