[News] News And Notes 7/30: Intensity Picks Up In First Padded Practice

Campanaro doing well and Reynolds struggling. Gonna be a tough call right there if camp stays healthy. Knowin our luck he'll go down week 2 and we'll lose Reynolds trying to stash him on the P.S.

Like to see correa and Orr battling it out. Haven't heard much about kafusi at all.

I heard Steve smiths injury was  actually a double rupture and one of the worse ones the Dr. Had ever seen. Might take a little longer than expected but I'm still not counting him out.

And I know its still early but I know that a lot of you ppl that wrote Dennis pitta off see him out there doin his thing. Would be funny as hell if he winds up the starter and first on the depth chart after the majority of ppl said we didnt need him and that he should hang em up. I know its only day 1 in pads but I can tell from his demeanor he's ready. With the suspensions to Boyle and waller and crocks injury we may very well need him to help carry the load at the TE position.

Looking forward to next week, Practice gets heated up and a couple of evening practices. Players will start to get in the groove.
As far as Campenero, the Ravens have to put him in plays NOW. they cannot afford to use a roster spot just to have him go down. Same with Pitta. Unfortunately doing that, there is much higher chance of injury during practice...catch 22. Tallifero will be in the mix for Return man. WR spots are few. considering the Ravens may keep 4 TE and 4 RB and a Full back.
I say keep Camp for the PS and then move him in. There is less chance of him getting picked up on waivers than one of our Draft picks.

One thing that stood out reading that article...

Inside linebacker Zach Orr also had a strong day. He was constantly around the football and broke up a couple of passes in the flat. Orr is competing with Correa for a starting job, and neither of them wanted to lose any ground to the other.

Things like this can only benefit the team, 2 guys pushing each other in camp to try and fill the position with both guys training well.

It's really early so don't count anyone out just yet. New players will have their good and bad days. Also remember Reynolds is learning new positions. Please stop with the bad luck comments lol.

Don't worry, Reynolds isn't in that big of demand. He'll make the P.S.

A team like to Patriots would pick Camp up in a heart beat and knowing our luck, he wouldn't have another injury for the next 5 years if that happened. Camp has to much potential, he would be picked up the day he is released. I think we see if he stays healthy. If he stays healthy, he could be a playmaker for our offense, especially on third down. We take a big risk of losing him if we try to sneak him through waivers, and I really don't think he would make it through.

I can't wait till Correa becomes a starter. His mentality and motor is Clay Matthews esque.

Many fans were criticizing the pick of Correa but he might turn out to be better than they imagined once the season begins.

Reynolds seems like a guy the Patriots would really covet and try to pick up off waivers if we stash him. I think I even heard somewhere they intended on drafting him in the 7th round.

I hope so. We passed on Myles Jack for him. He was supposed to be a pass rushing OLB/DE and now he's at ILB. Still would have rather had Jack, but we'll see.

Nothing too exciting just yet. Pretty much what is to be expected in the first padded practice.

Not much mention of Kaufusi still. I know his tweaked back set him back a bit, but it would be nice to hear how he is adjusting so far and how he's being utilized.

Dean Pees should have many more options for creating havoc with the defense this year. There are a number of players that are showing the ability to play multiple positions. Love to see Orr is hungry and determined. Those pass break ups in the flats will turn into pick-six's come the regular season. Correa also adds a solid flex option and can match up well with larger tight ends. I am optimistic he can contain a Gronk and make his day long.
