Need advice on my dynasty team

21 posts in this topic

A little early to start this, but I recently took over a dynasty team that's in its third year, and need a little advice on the keepers.

My Keepers
QB: Blake Bortles
HB: Adrian Peterson
HB: Theo Riddick
HB: CJ Spiller
WR: Phillip Dorsett
WR: Rishard Matthews
WR: Rueben Randle
WR: Willie Snead
WR: Mike Wallace
WR: Jaelen Strong
WR: Kendall Wright
TE: Gary Barnidge
TE: Antonio Gates

K: J Tuck

DL: Geno Atkins
DL: Fletcher Cox
DL: Cameron Wake
LB: Donta Hightower
LB: Danny Trevathan
DB: Josh Norman
DB: Ron Parker

Players on the cut list
DB Dwight Lowery
LB Wesley Woodyard
DL Sheldon Richardson
WR Kenny Britt
HB Brandon Bolden
HB Alfred Morris
QB Blaine Gabbert

Was thinking of keeping Gabbert, not sure of his situation. I also have the #5 pick in the rookie draft. Am I making the right decisions?! lol

If it helps, I think Gabbert gets the starting job in SF. Obviously won't be good, but he should get at least double digit starts.

That does help. That was going to be my deciding factor. A pretty deep league so id like to have two starting QBs.

Definitely keep him then if it is a pretty deep league. Only Goff is guaranteed to start games as a rookie QB.

Yeah, not sure if I'd get him in the rookie draft nor do I want to spend a pick on him. I need some help at other positions. lol

Yeah, RB and WR don't look too good. Honestly, I'd drop CJ Spiller. I think he's more likely to be cut than play a significant role.

Yeah, I'll probably drop him and keep Gabbert. Morris isn't worth saving either given they have McFadden and Elliot. Bolden isn't anything either. Hoping to get a solid WR via trade. Shouldn't take too much to turn around. I had a couple of options. I like the bad teams, gives me more to work with! And my expectations won't be so high. Lol

Note: since this is the fantasy forum, there's no need to have just one thread for discussion of the season.

I gotcha. I was just going by what was done last year. An open discussion of venting and such. Thanks though

Trying to figure out if I should go RB or WR in the draft. I'll have a shot at Derrick Henry, Kenneth Dixon who id like to get.

or a guy like sterling shepard or Tyler Boyd. Rebuilding the team, but would like for someone to have an immediate impact.  I like Dixon.

I would rank:

Boyd

Dixon

Henry

Yeah I'll probably go WR. I need it.

I tried to trade my fifth pick overall, but only got offered a 2nd and Greg Olsen for my first and CJ Spiller. Would be okay short term, but need a younger guy long term.

I'd take that deal in a heartbeat

Really? A TE position at age 31 over a top 5 pick in the draft?

Would you trade Olsen and say Dixon for spiller and maybe Mike Thimas or shepherd?

Spiller at this point, I'm not sure if I'm even going to keep. He's a throwaway. This team just needs some young talent. I'm sure Olsen still has plenty left in him, but I do have an aging TE in Gates and Barnidge. Could potentially pick up a rookie TE in the second. My WR are pretty bad, that was my only reasoning of not going for Olsen. He should have a pretty good year, but it'd be nice to pick up a franchise WR.

Idk, I'm just gonna take my chances. I'm sure Olsen will out catch whomever I draft, but the long term might be better.

In another dynasty, They offered Jermaine Kearse and Golden Tate for Eric Decker and Kevin White. Yay or neeeeeh

I'd go nope on that one. Decker is probably going to produce just as much if not more than Tate, and Kevin White has way more upside than Kearse. Since this is a dynasty league, you have to take longevity into account. White may become a star, and then you'd look back and kick yourself. Meanwhile Kearse will be a consistent middle of the road player.

Yeah Decker is an underrated TD producer so both of your guys are better to own than those two b

I was leaning that way as well. Always nice to have reassurance. Pretty sure he is a Jets fan. Had fitzy and Marshall
