Training Camp & Preseason Discussion Thread (Other Teams)

14 posts in this topic

Training Camp is officially under way which means the HOF Game and the Preseason is right around the corner. Now we get to see the teams start to come together after an offseason that saw Josh Norman get Tagged, had the Tag removed and land with the Redskins shortly after. The Giants went on a defensive line spending spree and two blockbuster trades that shook up the 2016 NFL Draft. Ryan Fitzpatrick is $12M richer and back with the Jets, RG3 looks to rebound in Cleveland and Hue Jackson ponders if he'll be given 1 or two years with the Browns. Will the AFC South & NFC East continue their battle to determine which division sucks more!

Hot Topics Heading into Training Camp/Preseason

- AFC East: Will the Ryan Family Circus destroy the Buffalo Bills? Can Miami finally step up and challenge the Patriots who will be without Tom Brady for 4 games or will it be up to the Jets to stop the Patriots reign of terror in the East?

- AFC North: Despite their high power offense, the Steelers were no match for Cincy(until Cincy had their meltdown that is) and Denver in the playoffs. With new defensive additions in Artie Burns, Jared Hargrave and Sean Davis, will Pittsburgh's youth movement on defense pay off with recent defensive draft picks? Can The Bengals finally win a Playoff Game under Marvin Lewis and how many contract extensions will he get despite the worst playoff record among all Head Coaches. Hue Jackson seems to be the right guy but will he get the time to turn the Browns around?

- AFC South: From worst to most competitive? It looks like a 3 team race to win the South in 2016 with the Jacksonville Jaguars having their best shot to win the division in years. Gus Bradley has done well in reshaping the Jaguars defense, Blake Bortles is coming along nicely and is gelling with his young receivers. The addition of Malik Jackson should easily improve the pass rush along with Dante Fowler coming off IR. We know what the Colts can do, if Luck is healthy they can compete. If not, they stumble like they did last year. The Texans hope Brock Osweiler's limited starting experience doesn't come back to bite them after giving him a high paying contract and what will be of their defense without JJ Watt?

- AFC West: Who will lead the way in Denver as the Broncos begin their title defense without Peyton Manning. Joey Bosa remains the only unsigned draft pick to this point and even the Chargers GM is unsure if he will show up to Training Camp. Can Oakland & KC take advantage of a Manning-less Broncos and a weak Chargers team and win the AFC West Title?

- NFC East: For as bad as this division was last year, all Romo had to do was stay healthy and the Division was theirs for the taking. Can he stay healthy to unseat the Kirk Cousins led Redskins team or will the Giants defensive improvements be enough to win this division? Howie Roseman spent the offseason correcting the mistakes of the Chip Kelly Era and even sold the farm to get a brand new QB while paying Sam Bradford & Chase Daniels big time money.

NFC South: The Panthers are seeking their 4th straight NFC South Crown and a return to the Super Bowl to avenge their loss. Cam Newton gets back Kelvin Benjamin who was out last year with a torn ACL which makes you wonder how much more troublesome can this offense be with a returning Benjamin. Will Josh Norman's departure open up the secondary to mistakes? Atlanta seems to be hot and cold now a days, they fell apart after their 5-0 start last season, while Tampa looks for Winston to step up in his second year. Also will 2016 be the final year the Saints have the Brees/Payton Combination as Brees is in his final year of the deal with no new contract looming.

- NFC West: The Cardinals under Bruce Arians & Carson Palmer have shown flashes of Super Bowl Champions but fail to get it done when it matters most. They look to overcome that blowout loss in the NFC Championship Game and head to Houston after 2 years of "What If". Seattle's big wigs got contract extensions but protecting Russell Wilson will be key. The Seahawks offensive line is in shambles after Okung parted ways and left for Denver. Will the combination of Chip Kelly & Trent Baalke destroy the 49ers and will Jeff Fisher ever be replaced as the Rams Head Coach?

Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins did not report to camp, which contradicts the ESPN report that he walked out of Texans Training Camp.

It may only be the HOF Game but at least Sunday Night we get some football! Colts vs Packers to kick off the preseason festivities.

Also per Schefter, after that major trade by the Rams, Case Keenum, not Jared Goff gets the start in the first preseason game next Saturday Night against the Cowboys.

Chargers' DE Joey Bosa is holding out on training camp. Hmmph. Interesting.

Bad move on Bosas part to be honest, think San Diego have played this particular mess quite well.

Truthfully, I could care less. It isn't RAVENS football. My feelings would be completely different if the Ravens were playing in the HoF Game.

The Cleveland Browns have named RG3 their starting QB for the 2016 Season. With that announcement, RG3 will be the 25th, yes you read that right 25th Starting Quarterback for the Cleveland Browns since 1999.

Lol. I love how big of a disaster they continue to be. Even better they actually have some hope now. Can't wait to see it squashed. So I'd say that number lands on 27 by years end.
