Why are they still not giving Daniel Brown an opportunity. He's goes out in front of the fans and makes plays. The fans want to see more of him and Harbaugh throws him to the back of the bus. I want to see Dan Brown get more opportunities and not just thrown in when all else fails.

In reference to talk of Jake Long possibly being a backup. I dont think Ozzie would sign a spotlight guy like this to be a backup. Especially pertaining to our O-line

A guy who hasn't started a game since 2014 and who was still available the day before training camp?  Hell, he was available the day of the draft. So if Ozzie wanted to sign Long to be the starting LT, why didn't he do it before OTA's and mini-camp to get him working out w/ the team and why use the 6th pick on Stanley?

I really like the Jake Long signing regardless of where he plays. It would be interesting to see Long at LT and Ronnie at LG, but then again we should let this be determined in TC.

What plays? You mean in pre-season against 4th stringers? Or you mean in garbage time against a prevent defense in a blow-out by the Seahawks? He's too slow to play WR in the NFL which is why he bulked up to move to TE. You think he's better than Watson, Pitta, Gilmore or Maxx? You earn playing time by beating out the guys ahead of you. The fact he hasn't beat out anybody tells you all you need to know about his football career.

What a great move, I was worried about our O Line, but this move def sures things up. Now if we could only get more secondary help, but I don't think that will happen at this stage in the game, but I could be wrong.

Coaches see everything you see AND everything you don't.

That's why he's not on the field. Because they see things you don't see.

I have zero interest in seeing more of him. I have interest in seeing the best players play. And if he's not outplaying others to EARN playing time, then he's not one of the best players.

I think you are confusing Brown with Darren Waller. Waller converted to TE this offseason, not Brown.

Brown is in a dogfight for a roster spot in a very crowded WR core.

6th pick was used to replace Osemele. Long is here to replace Monroe.

I'm pretty sure he's right. I saw quite a few references/articles of them moving Brown to TE as well.

They even have Brown listed as a TE on the official site.

You're joking right? Stanley was drafted to play LT not LG.  And if you want to be technical about it, Osemele was playing LT at the end of the season.

Just remember you said this when Daniel Brown starts making plays on live tv, whether with us or another team.

We finally have wide outs:D All these years with sub par depth charts, now the fight is on! It's going to be tough to make the practice squad too.

No problem. I've heard this same line with plenty of other "talented, young receivers" who have come and gone from this team and weren't heard from again. Marlon Brown, Tommy Streeter, etc. All big, young, talented guys according to the fanbase, and its been crickets ever since.

Must have missed that.

O well, now he has even less of a chance of making this team.

What plays has Brown made? That ONE td catch in a garbage time preseason game with the absolute bottom of the rosters playing? Or you mean that other ONE catch during the season that was called back for offensive PI.

Hes not making the team. Its difficult to keep 4 TEs, and we'd have to keep 6 for Brown to even have a shot. Watson, Pitta, Gillmore, Williams, and Waller are all ahead of him -- and rightfully so. No ones holding Brown back but his own physical and talent limitations.

Nice kid. Likeable guy. But not an NFL talent.

I think our secondary is just fine. We have a lot of quality players returning from injuries plus the addition of Weddle makes a HUGE difference.

When I saw Long's tweet I thought that should be the Ravens motto this year. I think everyone of these guys I list has tweeted at some point in the last year "A lot to prove". There's Long, Wallace, Forsett, Flacco, Suggs, SSS, Dumervil, J Smith, Webb, W Davis, Elam, Brookes, A Brown, etc... If half the people who have said they have something to prove, actually prove something, we will have a dynamite team. The real question is, of those who have a lot to prove, how many of them are willing to put in the work to prove it. Hopefully, they all will.

"Might see time at inside linebacker"? Still don't understand why they passed on Myles Jack who would have filled that role.

Well, it may not be a question of choice. It all starts with how his twice torn ACL holds up. If it's all right, he's in the discussion. I, for one, would be happy to have him man the LT position for a season while Stanely is geting used to the NFL level at G - like Ogden did back then.

But first we have to see in what shape he is in. Yep, he was a 1/1 pick and was at multiple Pro Bowls - but don't forget that he was picked up from the street - and you rarely find truly good value this time of the off-season... There is probably a reason the Falcons let him walk and didn't sign him back. Maybe it's only that they have enough guys at the position - maybe it's because they didn't trust his knee. We don't know at this point - but we will find out dirung the coming weeks, and if it's no good, he's cut - the Ravens didn't lose anything.

If everyone stays healthy the O-line should dominate this year. Jake Long coming on board with the drafting of Stanley provides the best depth at LT in a long time in my humble opinion. GO RAVENS!

I missed it back then, too. Here's the forum thread I opened back about a month ago when I first read about it: http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/topic/68982-has-anyone-heard-about-dan-brown-switching-to-tight-end/

IMHO it wasn't really fair to Brown, to be honest: while Waller's switch was all the rage and analysed ad nausem, there was no official announcement of Brown also switching to TE, even the pundits were only guessing by the muscle Brown packed up, and a remark he made...

Unknowns over whether he would actually be able to play, obviously.

Right. It was a two-fold issue. First one being how ready would he be ready to play immediately. Second one being that his knee injury is a ticking time bomb. It is a chronic issue that will progressively get worse for the rest of his life until the cartilage is completely worn out and he'll need micro fracture surgery. If you want to hear about something pretty gruesome, read up on that procedure. I'll spare the details here. That being said it is 50/50 at that point after the process, if it actually works that is, that he will be able to play again.

Varying thoughts on his condition. Some thought it would be sooner than later. Ravens thought sooner, like within 5 years. Jags obviously think otherwise. Hope he can stay healthy. Even though we didn't get him he is a freak athletic talent and it should be fun to see what he can do in the NFL...when he's not playing against us that is.

The addition of Weddle and with Webb moving to safety as well means that Elam will be relegated to a back up role and so will Terrence Brooks. That is a good thing.

A healthy Jimmy Smith will be a huge factor to the cornerbacks contribution to defense. I don't know if Wright is the real deal or not, but we had some solid backups with Powers, Arrington, and Will Davis coming back from injury. There are also draft picks Young and Canaday to consider.

It has been pointed out before but another huge addition to the secondary is the new DB coach Leslie Frazier.

Well Boyle will miss the first 10 games of the season for his second PED violation, Waller will miss the first 4 due to a substance abuse violation, Pitta is one tweak away from maybe never being able to walk again. I still don't know if Pitta will really make this roster. I hope he stays healthy. I do not want to see him down on the turf with that leg flopping around again.

This means that there is a chance that only Watson, Williams, and Gillmore are ahead of him and Gillmore is coming off of labrum surgery and that other shoulder of his might get operated on in the future. They passed on it this year thinking rehab would be enough. Labrums are no joke and they are a tough injury to repair and come back from. Hopefully neither of them were what is called a SLAP tear. Those are the most difficult to fix.

Out of all the "trees" the team had last season, Daniel Brown was actually the most productive. Marlon Brown disappeared and went on IR and was cut. Chris Matthews hasn't done anything since that super bowl. Waller got hurt and will be missing 4 games. If they are looking to keep one "tree" on the roster, Daniel Brown might be it especially if he proves he can play TE and he could in a pinch line up at WR too. I think it is a reach for him to make the roster, but it isn't impossible.

With key vets coming off injuries, and with a lot of young potential, this camp to me is really wide open with the exception of a handful of positions....Another reason why a Jake Long would sign, as he does have a legit shot at winning a spot as the the first next man up if someone struggles or gets hurt...I see guys like Z.Smith, Judon, and a few other OLBer really getting more PT, and being groomed to take over for Suggs, and Doom in the next year or 2.....Camp will sort it all out, but i see a lot of serious competition going on with a lot of players who might be thought as camp bodies, having legit shots at making the team or PS....JMO...
