Should 2 point rule be eliminated?

26 posts in this topic

Just like back in the old days you couldn't try for 2 in the NFL after a TD. I never like the two point extra try its almost too easy. If they want to try for 2 points move ball back to 5 yard line then you can try it. The rule is you place the ball on 2 yard like a running play can score it easy or a quick pass can easly get that extra 2. So move back to 5 yard line it becomes a 50/50 shot you might score the 2.

If it's so easy, why don't more teams do it?

They do,,Ever seen coach call for 2? I say this if score doesn't match up to an easy field goal or at least tie it then go back and play defense ether stop em or get ball back.

They've made the PAT more difficult, so you can see some teams (with PIT being vocal about it) moving toward going for it as the default option. I am not interested in seeing is the league making a 2 point conversion easier (by moving the ball closer to the line) and making it the default choice across the board.

IMO - a 2 point conversion should be there for a team if they NEED it and not have it where it is almost always the best choice. I think there should be an element of risk that a team has to take to get that extra point.

Even with the kickoff moved back, it still had a conversion rate over 90%, whereas the 2-PT sits around 50, 55%. There's still an inherant risk there

But look at the play. For example a slant is a quick pass for an reception. with ball on 2 yard line calling a slant makes it almost impossible to defend. This is a slant play explaned

Now tell me how to defend that on 2 point conversion?

Given the low rate of 2 point conversations a lot of people do know how to defend it against it. Also, did you watch the Super Bowl between the Seahawks and the Patriots? Guess what the Seahawks tried to do to score when they were right near the goal line? A quick slant. Guess how that ended? And interception.

Well i disagree with that call. They should have ran it..If they get stopped so be it.And besides i run a slant on madden most of time going for 2.

Madden isn't real but its close to the real thing

Push button to run, if only it was that easy in real life ;)

I hope they just entirely get rid of the PAT

I agree with that too.. Just make TD automatic 7 points and move 2 point on 5 yard line if you don't make that they take a point away.

Uh... press man with a backer in the middle?

uh... flood the field with zones?.

No, you know best. Why doesn't everyone go for two? This play works every time I use it in Madden.

Ever play Madden online? 90% of my online opponents go for 2.

Ever play or watch real football? 100 percent of the teams go for 2 less than 10 percent of the time.

So you are comparing people hanging out in their homes playing a video game to people who work and get paid millions in a multi billion dollar industry?
