i can't help thinking though that out of this situation owuasor is a winner - he's shown something (good or bad or questionable or neither) that has got the fanbase debating and talking about him seriously

Never thought we'd have this much support for a UDFA named Patrick Onwuasor, but here we are.  I feel like the extremes are being argued when no one is saying that he needs to be cut or anything.  Most feel that based on what's been said , that maybe he needs to chill a little bit.  No one is saying to chop his head off or feed him to the sharks.

I would think anyone here hopes Patrick becomes a long time beast of an LB for the Ravens. If he does make the team we also hope he doesn't take the dumb penalties and for God's sake, easy on my boys......haha

Exactly.  Hell, if he earns his way onto the team, I'm all for it.  I love the idea of a hard hitting safety being able to play in the box.  It just sounds like he has to play smarter and with a little more control.  It's really as simple as that.

Let's draw a line in the sand then because it seems like everyone's trying to douse a tiny flame in gasoline

i personally would like to see someone with that much passion and effort join the increasingly long line of Undrafted inside backers who become special teams enforcers but simultaneously it's not going to break my heart if he doesn't make it

his play might have gone over the line, it might not have - we don't know, we weren't there but I think the reason we're talking about it so vehemently is because either way good or bad it's something the Ravens haven't had in a while

LOL, I already ripped into Danny D once for pulling points allowed off of ESPN and thinking it tells the whole story (or any story), but I guess I have to point this out again.

For the Seattle game (which I agree was a horrendous defensive performance), there were two turnovers we made in our own territory, including a fumble inside our own red zone. Its going to be really difficult for a defense to not give up TDs when a team only has to go 14 yards in order to score one.

For the KC game, we had a pick six and a fumble six, of which the defense could do nothing about because they weren't on the field. They also scored a 3rd TD when they started at our 24 yard line after a failed fake punt.

I'd strongly encourage anybody to go back and look at the last five games of the season. If you take into accounts points allowed that the defense had nothing to do with (mostly from turnovers), you're looking at a defense that was averaging around 20 ppg allowed, and that's against four playoff teams.

Yes, I'd say thats good. Its kind of impossible to think its not.

Yes, going back and looking at the box score, recap and I think we were on to clausen - our offense was giving up points

going to be positive and roll with it, here's hoping the d brings it this season - from the get go

if all our weapons on offense click and we can start games fast not stuck in the mud, play with leads

who knows, we might have a half decent season

Check Zrebiec's Twitter in particular (should be in the tweets and replies) and some other guys as well.  The Dixon shove was deemed unnecessary by multiple people for sure, and the fight with Juice was said to have been started because it was a high hit.

Again, I appreciate the aggressiveness, but I highly doubt there are professional football players getting upset because they were hit hard.  I think it's kind of silly to assume that guys are whining because of that.  Tempers aren't flaring for no reason.

FYI, I don't think anyone has even cared about him running over the DT.  That's not really a play in question here, it doesn't seem.

Regardless, we don't know what happened.  I've maintained my stance all along that I don't mind aggressiveness unless it comes with recklessness.  It sounds like there might be a small case of that.  I'm not calling for his head or anything, but from all indications, it does sound like he needs to play a bit smarter.

Ok but we get reports all the time of OL and DL getting into fights... No ones says omg gotta nip that. These guys are gonna cause penalties.

Hes not head hunting. He's playing hard and if guys are fighting back, good bc this team needs it.

Plus Buck started the fight between the two. No one said Buck needs to watch it that's a 15 yarder and possible ejection.

Thats my only point. Until we hear he's doing something dirty, head hunting or trying to injure ppl - I don't see what could be negative about it.

Even if it's only minor negativity this used to be a fan base that appreciated this kind of play. Now we're so worried about injuries we want to castrate these guys.

He deserves praise for going out there and making a name for himself and setting tone. He's playing like a Raven.

Again, see all of my comments above.  I'm not in the camp of chopping his head off.

To my eye, the most amazing thing that happened today was that Suggs snuck behind Harbaugh's back and passed his conditioning test.  To this point, nothing that has happened this year is as significant.  If we have a healthy Suggs we have a chance to be a decent team. Not a playoff team, but a decent  team.

I just left the free practice. I don't care what anyone says, T West is looking like a man on fire. He's finding holes, making great cuts and shook the hell out of Correa with a quick stop and go. He's looking like a complete RB1 IMO

And that's what got me. Pitta getting angry. Not calling him soft, but I've never heard of angry Pitta. Is that a new Pokemon or something?

Apparently Correa hit Wallace hard and Flacco got into his face. And he made Pitta angry. Hoping Pittas okay after going to the locker room.

Not exactly, he practiced well enough and they elected to give him the second full pads practice day off due to his extensive history of injuries, especially injuries early in the year.  They are not requiring him to be as physical. Canpanaro's roster spot is too valuable to risk upon Canpanaro. He would not get past the first round of cuts if it was up to me.  Besides being injury prone his play, both in the NFL and College, has not been enough to reserve him a roster position.

For similar injury concerns and his age, Yanda is getting time. We cannot afford to lose him this year.

Yes, I'm quoting myself. It's a little vain, but I can't help it if there's not an overabundance of insight here.  Plus I was heavily "negged" on this post and figured some balance was in order.

Harbaugh explained to former Ravens Head Coach Brian Billick in this NFL Network video that he’s had to protect veterans from themselves this year in camp because they all want to play so badly. For example, Harbaugh said he had to throw veteran guard Marshal Yandaicon-article-link.gif out of practice for a scheduled off day.

Now for those that negged me regarding the Canpanaro aspect of the post..........Lay on MacDuff!

Kj, I'm a member of the "Bill Parcells" school of evaluation.  I don't believe the W's and L's lie.  I don't believe they deceive and I don't believe they misrepresent.  In Bill Parcell's words, "You are what your record says you are".  Now you can search around in those games for "stats" that support your argument, but NFL Football is very much a Bottom Line endeavor. The Cheatriots are a great example. They scored a lot of points and let in a lot of yards late. But the yards given up in garbage time don't amount to much.  The same is almost always true of other statistics.

If I were going to give advice about analyzing the second half of our past season. I would start by asking who we played in weeks 9-12. I'd note Big Has Ben had a terrible game in week 15 and a rookie beat us in week 16.  Then I'd look at weeks 13 and 14. I'd think that would dispel any notion we are going to be a top Defense this year, but dreams die hard.

Phone is buggy. This quote isn't supposed to be here... But, what exactly happened with KC? I wanna know like how did flacco and pitta both get so angry at a hard hit? Was it clean? Before the whistle?

Pitta injured his finger in the fight with Correa and will be out a little while. Hmm..

Also, Chris Moore is in a walking boot.

Kj........Just want to acknowledge your early posting makes you a strong candidate for Forum Rookie of the Year honors.  Our best evaluators are keeping a close eye upon you.  No, not Newsome and DeCosta, but with luck Bisciotti may be appearing.  Additionally, with a down 2016 class... Forum Poster of the Year is not outside your realm.

cheers danny, dont mind chatting about my team and hope i can add something to the conversation. im from australia and didnt really grow up with nfl, started casually watching about 10 years ago, when i started really watching and following - this big old beast in purple and black, just the way they played - just became my team, its only the last few years im really following the drafts and tc and the behind the scenes work ( and learning the intricacies of the game - gaps, techs, blitzes, defenses, routes, sets - bit of reading there)  - things might not be perfect at the moment but its a good organization to support.

in regards to last season could keep going back and looking at games and footage, stats but maybe we are best served to just put that in the rear vision mirror and move forward, not long to go now .given that the hype at the start of last season was possible SB after we added a few pieces. that said, im quitely optimistic joe and the offense carries the team to a nice record

i really like our preseason match ups to see what the secondary looks like - couldnt have asked for much better opponents,  - hopefully brees, stafford and luck take some shoots at us and we see where we're at

I totally agree with you. He was looking like a man out there. He has a vicious cut too.

In both videos shown of tonight's practice, KC was getting owned by Wagner. That spin move was not working at all.

What's with Pitta and Correa fighting? Where is the love?

Now Pitta is dealing  with a potential finger injury, wow atleast it's not the hip but damn what a meaningless injury.

Correa better learn his place...and/or channel his rage into a pro bowl DROY season. Lol

Looks like the rooks are trying to make a name for themselves while the vets are doing their usual thing. I like the physicality. Pitta and Flacco are getting into spats! Fantastic! Hopefully, they play smart with the intensity. I could see a handful of +15 Yards this season.

Also loved seeing Joe take off running for the first. Beautiful sight!

yeah he doenst have the body to play the edge in the NFL at 240-250. Thats why the move to ILB in 3-4 is a good move and would be even better SAM in a 4-3 Under imo. But he's still very versatile, fiercy agressive player and looks like he's a baller. Lots of people said it during the draft but Boise State couldnt not use him worst than they did. Boise never are able to use good defensive player to their strenghts
