[News] The Competition 2016: Offensive Line

Cutting Monroe loose was a bit risky... they need to be comfortable with the back-up situation at tackle. Hurst is a good guy but hasn't proven yet that he is the man for that job. I'm hoping Castillo has it covered.

I am worried about our depth at tackle, not so much about LG, as I think Urschel and Jensen can play the position. I think Stanley can step up even though he has no NFL experience but I am not sold on Hurst, and for me, protecting Joe is priority #1!

I totally agree...Hoping Stanley going up against Suggs and doom at full speed with pads, can get him soludified at the position....protecting Joes blindside is def top priority

Here's the line I foresee as being the final line as we stabilize our O-line through trial and error. Stanley, Alex Lewis, Zuttah, Yanda and Wagner as the starting five, backed up by Alex Lewis moving to LT if Stanley gets hurt, Jensen or Urshel moving to LG, Urshel if Zuttah is hurt, Jensen if Yanda is hurt and Nembot if Wagner is hurt.

The Ravens will probably keep 8 lineman like the article suggested.
Stanley, Urshel, Zuttah, Yanda, Wagner. Lewis (G/T), Jensen (C/G), and the winner of Hurst vs. Nembot. It will be interesting to see who get reps as backup LT during preseason.I am hoping Lewis and /or Nembot proves a beeter backup than Hurst If Stanley is good right away, I think the o-line is stronger even though they lost KO.

I really like Alex Lewis, but starting 2 rookies on the left side of the line makes me nervous.

Although most fans would be bored watching their OL play (and I can't blame them lol), our history of drafting and developing OL talent actually has me intrigued to see how that battle for LG goes . Urschel has showed some really promising flashes of talent ever since he completely manhandled Wilfork in the playoffs as a rookie. Ryan Jensen has had some good games. Ducasse is a veteran (though not one you'd prefer to have starting). Alex Lewis got some praise in OTAs. The competition for LG is going to be even more fierce than the TE battle and almost as tough as the RB battle.

The OL is the most important component on the offense because they protect our QB and block during runs. Duh, right? But seriously, the most important.

Keep in mind I did say it would be trial and error. I don’t think he necessarily starts the season at LG (unless he simply outplays his competion in TC) but will eventually play his way into the starting line up.

Obviously Stanley will have a support role. Ducasse seems to be the starter as he has 7 years experience. The first four games will give opponents tests of how mentally quick and durable the left side will be. We had problems on this side and that may continue. Trestman better catch on quick or we start in the hole.

Stanley took all the snaps w/ the first team during mini-camp.  I don't see the Ravens using their 6th pick on a player who's not going to immediately start.

If Stanley pans out as an immediate starter then this will be a very strong offensive line. Lots of quality depth as well as versatility. Should be better than last year even with the loss of K.O. Bodes well for the offense as we are really loaded at the skill positions.
