The former undrafted linebacker took a heavy dose of the first-team reps during the offseason program. He will have to compete with rookie Kamalei Correa and former second-round pick Arthur Brown for the job.

I think Orr played well in spots last year... but I also thought that ABROWN played well in spots... I think the position will go to ABrown.... I know that may surprise some but Arthur seems to be growing up some and growing into his role. He looks more the part and he has always had the athleticism that we covet. I believe that we will see Arthur and CJ starting in the middle like the Ravens intended a few years ago (just not the path they envisioned).

Orr can beat out Brown with his eyes closed. The only thing I saw Brown do was run into his own man on kick offs, TWICE.

Sometimes consistency is a bad thing

This is a sad situation for the Ravens.
Neither Brown of Orr are what we need in a middle linebacker.
We will need Correa on the outside to play opposite Z. Smith. I dont see Dumervil or Suggs setting the edge any more and both may be pass rushing specialists. That's if Suggs fully recovers which is doubtful at his age.
Right now I don't see how we are going to replace either Daryl Smith or Upshaw with a proven quality player. Letting Smith go was an unnecessary blunder by Ozzie, one of his few.
The linebacker group is the weakest positional group on the team this year and clearly the weakest group we have had in 10 years.
Fortunately the defensive line and the secondary look to be very good so maybe we can play more of a 4-3 type defense to cover up this deficency.
I certainly hope Ozzie has a plan to hit the market once cuts start being made and pick up legitimate replacements for Upshaw and Smith. Correa may need time to develop as will Judon and Kaufusi.

Daryl Smith was horrible in coverage and his play on run downs was slipping (1 on 1 against Chris Johnson and he whiffs). Too old, too slow - he can't play the ILB position any longer which is why Tampa signed him to play the SAM OLB in their 4-3. It's no coincidence that the Ravens defense got significantly better (especially the secondary) when Orr replaced Smith in the last half of season last year. Correa was excellent at setting the edge and against the run in college - rarely getting knocked back of the line of scrimmage. I think he can easily fill Upshaw's position on run packages.

The Ravens need to find out if Orr & Brown are NFL guys are not especially with so many quality ILB in next year's draft.

I like Orr, because of his story.  He's another undrafted player who exercised patience and now is in a prime position to become a starter.

I think orr does well here but I have a strange feelin that KC will turn out to be way better at LB than we expected. Judon and kafusi will rotate with suggs and doom along with kc occasionally but I have given up on A brown. Hoping he proves me wrong.

You gotta love this crap. Arthur Brown has been "waiting to get on the field". Seriously? If he was any good, he would have been "on the field". It is not a crime to miss on draft picks. All teams do. The difference is that some teams will cut their losses and move on. All we see out of the Ravens and the cheerleaders who write this drivel is that they hang on to these guys, making excuses for them not being able to do the job. Same with Elam. He stinks and should be cut. I said that about Monroe time and time again. All I got was a lot of grief from those who defended his terrible play.
