[News] Late For Work 6/24: 3 Reasons Why Kamar Aiken Will Have (Another) Breakout Year

I feel like finally Joe will have all the weapons that we have patiently been waiting for. I feel as everyone will have an important role. Joe Flacco can be one of the better qbs in the NFL. He has proven it game after game. The Ravens are stacked a receiver and tight end. Put Steve Smith Sr. in the slot, then you have Wallace and Aiken on the outside. Even if Perrimen is healthy, I dont see him as a full time starter right away due to the lack of experience as a starting receiver in the NFL. Aiken can be just a effective as Boldin was. He is physical, good route runner, and has a good set of hands. Then at tight end, Pitta is returning. This is great news for Flacco. Pitta was Flacco's security blanket. We also have Gilmore, Watson, Boyle, and Waller. I feel Waller may be the under dog, but i feel with time and practice he can be a very gifted tight end. Hopefully we can keep him around, but i dont see the Ravens keeping 4 tight ends for many reasons. Overall i believe this team will revolve around Flacco's confidence on his leg. With the receiving corps we have, I can easily see Flacco tossing for well over 4,000+ yards and 40tds.

People keep forgetting about the running backs.  We might not have a top back like we did for years with guys like Lewis and Rice, but we have a good group of backs and all of them can catch the ball(including the fullback).   So, like everyone keeps saying, if this team can stay healthy there should be weapons all over the field.

It would be nice to have the room to keep all five tight ends, but I just don't see that happening.  Someone will have to go and I think most people are going to say Waller.  I would hate to see him go, with his speed and size he could do some damage, but its probably going to come down to him or Pitta and Pitta has shown he can play in the NFL.  But you can never tell what Ozzie is thinking.  He might keep Waller, because he is a player the could be on the team for years, while we have no idea how much longer Pitta will be able to play at this level.

Dont worry Dixon will be a top back in the NFL?

I hate the idea of cutting Waller and then seeing him tear it up for someone like Oakland, Browns or Texans..

Kamar Aiken is a "must have the ball" player. His personal desire to catch the football is unparalleled. Joe will send missiles to Aiken; many first-downs and touchdowns will be the result this season.

Kamar should easily be our number two receiver behind Steve Smith, assuming that Smith comes back to his natural form. Would also like to see the Ravens release Companaro, tired of seeing him on the injury report. Also wouldn't mind if they got rid of Pitta, I think it is time to get rid of his contract. It's would be sad to see a great player go, but we have younger tight ends and just signed that guy Watson. In addition, I hope people don't feel sorry for him either. He is a multi millionaire at 28 or however old he is............

Key word "CHEMISTRY" with Joe Flacco! Because Joe locks on his WRs and Triple " S " is getting all the good routes up top! Aiken reminds me of Anquan and is why the Ravens don't need him back! Plus it will be an insult to the youngsters bringing Anquan back so let Kamar run all the same routes Anquan ran and he will make it do what it do babe! Mallet made Aiken shine brighter to me but whom am I?!

don't get me started on how a forum member repeatedly said that Campanaro should be a starter over Aiken.  And this was AFTER the season Aiken just had.

I agree 100%. Don't rush him and the PUP would be the perfect place for him. That would allow us to keep another guy like TWest, Reynolds, Ochi, Brooks or even open a spot for Pitta. Same goes for Pitta if he's not 100%. Stashing both on the PUP until we need them in November/December lets us keep some quality young talent now. Every team has injuries every year, so having quality replacements on the PUP is huge.

Can only use the PUP designation on one player if im not mistaken.

No, any player who reports to camp injured can be placed on PUP.  We had multiple last year.
