NFL.com's David Carr says Flacco is Number 3 overrated QB

No doubt Flacco has the better overall situation. I'm not sure I would say Luck is asked to do more just because his team isn't as balanced as ours though. Flacco isn't asked to throw 40+ times every week, but he is asked to make many big or critical plays every week (e.g. make as many, or nearly as many, splash plays as Luck, only he is given less opportunities to do so since we can actually run the ball). And come December/January, forget about it...our game plan changes and we put it all on Flacco.

Luck reminds me so much of Matt Ryan...yellow jacketed by the media before ever seeing a snap on an NFL field, one great season, and now a couple years into the same career trajectory (downward) as Ryan. Luck gets far too much credit and praise for doing so little in comparison...which would be a-okay by me if people weren't pissing on my boy Flacco in the process. My only reasons for that post was that people say things like "Indy is a four win team with Flacco there" and "Luck is the next great QB".

I realize that we cannot directly compare Flacco and Luck due to the different teams...but we can compare what Luck did with what other QBs on his team did. A 2-5 record with Luck vs a 6-3 record with backups tells me that either Luck is not as good as people make him out to be...or Luck's supporting cast and defense is much better than given credit for...or both...

True on your first point.  Totally different monster come playoffs and I think we'll be seeing it this year.

Kind of harsh comparing him to Ryan, who I've always felt was somewhat overrated.  He also has more post seasons win than him in half the time.

I can't believe a rookie performance against backups in a pre season game makes someone say they're better than Flacco...Actually I can believe it, sadly. Kind of reminds me of when Josh Freeman and Colin Karperknick were better.

Dak has been impressive.. In the preseason. Where the defenses aren't being as complex as usual.

Not to discredit him, he looks very good. But, he's still backing up Romo.... Who's an inferior QB to Flacco.

How is Flacco overrated when most of the league hates him? He's not great.. But he gets it done. I'm okay with that.

I'm curious to know if this terrible QB thought his younger brother Derek is the most overrated QB?

He had his brother in the underrated category, brotherly love come on man...lol

Ha Ha ... I think if this all the time. It isn't just Freeman and Kaep ... every year there are a couple of guys that those who follow the league fall in love with and rate over Flacco. Some put Sanchez over Flacco some years back. RGIII was a phenom, Bradford was getting rated over Flacco, Even guys like Tannehill and Stafford, who may get better stats, but are these guys better than Joe?

Derek Carr is right in that same mold. Sure, he may blow up and be awesome .. but there is a real chance he is the most recent shiny new object that gets people's attention, but is at the back end of the starters list or roaming as a journeyman backup in a few years.

Spot on. In context of the conversation, I'd add Luck to this long list as well. He has yet to show he is better than Flacco, all we hear about is his potential. As they say, potential is another word for something you haven't actually done. Guys like Leaf and JaMarcus had all the potential in the world too..

Luck is better than Flacco.  Just like Romo is an injury waiting to happen.

I guess now we have to bring up Leaf and Jamarcus as a measuring stick.  ?

Agree, the one that bothers me the most is Dalton based on the huge contrast in their surrounding situations, put Flacco on the Bengals the last 5 years and I'm pretty sure they win a playoff game, probably a Super Bowl too.
