Ravens 2016 Season Schedule

5 posts in this topic

I decided to take a look at the schedule this year because I was trying to figure out when the preseason games start. I know how the NFL typically likes to mess with the Ravens and give them some wacky games that have us traveling from East to West coasts on short weeks and such.

This year I think the schedule is actually very fair as far as travel goes. For most of the season the Ravens remain on the East Coast.

Week 1: Bills at home (Baltimore)

Week 2: at Browns

Week 3: at Jaguars

Week 4: Raiders at home (Baltimore)

Week 5: Redskins at home (Baltimore)

Week 6: at Giants

Week 7: at Jets

Week 8: Bye

Week 9: Steelers at home

Week 10: Browns at home

Week 11: at Cowboys (only trip out West)

Week 12: Bengals at home

Week 13: Dolphins at home

Week 14: at Patriots

Week 15: Eagles at home

Week 16: at Steelers

Week 17: at Bengals

This is a very good schedule as far as long travel goes. The Ravens make only one trip out west to Dallas and then the next furthest destination is Ohio to play Cincy in the last week of the season. I also like how the division could come down to the last two weeks of the season with the only negative being that both of those division rival games will be on the road. The short week (Thursday night game) comes in week 9 and 10 when we first have the Steelers coming to town and then the Browns.

Its a nice schedule travel wise but I hate seeing 3 of the last 4 games on the road (Pats,Steelers,Bengals) The only true west coast team (Raiders) is a huge advantage for us and we need to capitalize on this game since I believe they have a great shot at winning the AFCWest and play a role in wildcard situations. Also interesting back to back games in the Meadowlands. A week 8 bye is also pretty much perfect.

Definitely a better schedule and not one that could be used as an excuse for losing

In years past even the commentators would remark during games that the Ravens had a pretty brutal travel schedule. This season not so much. I mean, honestly I think the Ravens might be among the lowest ranking in frequent flier miles.

Yeah, I think the Ravens are lucking out because they don't even have to travel between the Giants and Jets game (since they share a stadium) and then there is the bye right after that before they come back home. The only issue with that is that New York is known as having a city that never sleeps and keeping your guys away from partying too much for a couple of weeks in a row might be an issue for some. But hey, they are grown ups and should know how to behave themselves.

Those last few games on the road are tough, but we usually play NE better at their home. True the last two games of the season are division rival games on the road, but all in all I think this is a very good schedule and if it comes down to the last couple of weeks of the season and the Ravens pull off those two wins to clinch the division...that means we're battle tested and good to go for the playoffs.

Can we call this the no jet lag season?
