I agree that its Zuttah job to lose. If it was an equal competition he and Jensen would be splitting reps - though a lot can change through Training Camp. But we can only makes assessments based on the info given to us - and so far its been that Zuttah has gotten all the 1st team reps at center, Urschel at LG, and Jensens been the 2nd team center. Ive got to imagine that if they were truly considering at this point in time that Jensen could be the 1st team center he would have at least received some reps with the first team.

Similarly to those that say Jensen will be the starting LG. Ive got to imagine that if the coaching staff thought he was the best option there, he would have at least received some reps there. So far - he hasnt.

If for some reason Zuttah were to go down, Im more inclined to think they would move Urschel to center and have Jensen or Lewis fill in at LG.

I remember the last time someone felt like we could upgrade at center by replacing an incumbent veteran [Birk] with a younger guy with upside [Gradkowski]. That didn't go too well.

Jensen should be the starter. He graded out so high last year it was ridiculous. He's a Yanda clone. Urschel looked good as well, but Jensen is a beast. So you go Stanley, Jensen, Zuttah, Yanda, Wagner. With Urschel, Lewis, and ? as backups. I say ? because we need a backup OT, but Hurst is not the answer. I hope someone beats him out for the job. I know we signed some undrafted OL like Skura and Broxton. We'll see.

Dude, I dunno what possessed anybody in the front office gradkowski could play center in the nfl!! lol please do not mention Urschel with gradkowski. Urschel has talent and strength and tenacity. Gradkowski was terrible!! lol for not having a better word. Urschel I would bet on being a top10 center at least, by playoff time if ravens keep him at center. Which could happen. There is some news floating ravens could cut zuttah. If is probably on the net to read. Harbs is really really liking Jensen and Urschel!! And Alex Lewis is making an impression

i don't get the hype for urschel. i haven't seen anything special at all. I like jensen a lot more because he's shown very promising flashes. i don't understand how he isn't getting first team reps. wish we couldve signed mathis to a one year deal...

I disagree. Jensen is a better center than Urchel. I was not impressed at all with Urschel at center. I have no issues with Urschel starting at guard because he has looked good there, but this infatuation with Urschel at center is confusing to me.

I don't see the Ravens cutting Zuttah. I feel like a lot of people on here really underrate Zuttah in hopes we have a HoF center on the bench. I like the optimism people have in our young guys, but Zuttah has been solid. You hear his name less than anyone on the line and for a lineman that's a very good thing.

 

 

adding* since you post so much about physical attributes and I won't deny you know more in that regard than most. Do you think Urschel has all that much strength in comparison to the best o-lineman? I personally don't and that's not saying I don't think he can be a good player in this league.

When have you ever seen Jensen play center in a regular season game to even make that statement?

i think urschel would be a literal re-run of that. 

 

i know the fans love him and all... but i only see solid depth and a ideal teammate there, but i dont see a starter in urschel.

Yeah,  we messed up there. I was surprised when we picked him in the draft that didn't mean he was bad. Unfortunately,  he didn't turn out well at all for anyone lol. I am excited about our future guys on the OL though.

I think Urschel's ceiling at center is basically Zuttah. Good ZBS center, okay passblocker, but isn't going to help you much when you need to grind out 2 or 3 yards up the middle. He's probably better off at guard than he will be as the center. If you replace Zuttah with Urschel you just get a less experienced Zuttah.
