He was perhaps turning out to be a bigger distraction than his value to the team. So, in that sense bye Monroe. Hope you land on your feet, although with the amount of money you made here you may not need to do much.

I think it might have been prudent to hold on to him thru training camp as an injury on the Ravens or another team could have enhanced his value to either ther Ravens or another team needing an OT due to injury. That being said I am not privy to all the reasons and effect of getting other contracts eg. Tucker signed.

IMO...I think Stanley will do well, but the sleeper in all this IMO is Lewis, he has a mean streak in him, and i think could fill in at LT if needed, as i see him having a great shot at starting at LG as of now....The money we save by unloading Monroe could go towards getting Tucker, and B.Will signed to long term deals, and still have enough to find a vet ILBer if the guys we have don't look good....JMO.....

agreed...unless he is a cancer in the locker room. IDK it seems as if Monroe has not wanted to be here for a long time. Even when healthy he seemed to give far less then 100%. I am thinking that his presence was too much of a distraction and not worth holding onto. We clearly had reasons to hold on to him. (6.6million in dead money over the next two season, depth, Stanley is unproven at this level and while we expect him to be a great one... the learning curve may require some time, Wagner is in a contract year, he could have become quality trade bait) IDK we had many reasons to keep Monroe and still did not. I believe that actions speak louder then words and in spite of all the reasons to keep him... we acted rather swiftly... Had to be a good reason for that.... everyone else can fill in the blanks... (ohhh and the deal with the NYG fell through / why?).

BWilliams and Tucker need signed... that should put us around 13 million in cap space... (maybe 14) and we have some contracts that we need to take care of... we also should still have some money to play with in FA if we need to add an ILB or another CB down the road!

It wasn't rocket science this was coming. Read the tea leaves, especially after Harbs said Monroe didn't speak for the organization regarding his personal cause and Monroe throwing the team under the bus on Twitter. Goes back to the formula of Pareto's Principle: can they successfully replace 80% of the production at 20% of the price. It's a no brainer when Stanley was drafted.
