[News] Late For Work 6/15: What Could Ravens Get In Trade For Eugene Monroe?

39 posts in this topic

For the peanuts the Ravens would likely be offered for Monroe, it would be foolish to trade him away. You paid the man, now get your value. Plus even if Stanley is ready to go, who is your backup. The excuse was they signed him as a safety after paying Joe, but then Ozzie is ready to jump back into the exact same situation with a less experience player as a starter.

Personally, I have enjoyed Ozzie's direction as GM, but this off-season has made me seriously question his long term decision making. The league is not what it used to be when he first put on the GM hat and it is starting to show signs. He got burnt on a few long term signings and tends to not ever want to pay for developed in house talent, almost assuming the coaches can always coach up the next guy they draft, a gamble to say the least. The issue I really have a big problem with though is they go and invest a substantial amount of dollars into their QB yet are hesitant to fully invest into that side of the ball. No team is a beast on both sides of the ball. Defense may be the original identity of the Ravens, but it sure seems like Ozzie is trying to force the defense back to where it once was. Pass rush will always be better if your playing with a lead and the defense is not constantly on the field. After last season with all the WR issues and no one really stepping up besides Aiken, they don't even sign a legit WR. Reynolds may pan out down the road but it certainly does not help the Ravens this year and he is new to the position. Seemed like they just wanted the media attention that follows.

IMHO the direction Ozzie is steering this club is not very clear and appears as though he cannot decide what the real priorities are.

You should be a GM. You know so much. I'll leave the decisions to Oz if you don't mind lol.

Monroe release from the Ravens, l don't know about this. Stanley l hope your ready. I would've kept Monroe before preseason for insurance just in case Stanley not ready now it's risky. I hope Ozzie know what he's doing.

Monroe is unmotivated, at the end of his career, not fully healthy, smoking marijuana, not getting reps etc. And that is right now, 2 years ago Harbaugh benched the guy for his lackadaisical performance. He is being over shined by a #1 draft pick with talent. There is NO reason to carry 6 million dollars for even 1 more day! End of story on this one. There are young players that can produce better than his history with the Ravens...fact.

I think all the comments that talk about triangles are incorrect, if you assume it's a "real" object, because a rope with mass does not hang in a triangle shape. Hanging ropes with slack in them take the shape of a catenary, AKA a hyperbolic cosine. In this case it's half a catenary, since the tall part is in the middle. Given that the function has a value of 2 at position 60, and a value of zero at position zero, I calculate that the function for the rope's height is f(x) = cosh (x/34) - 1. Calculating arclength of this function from zero to 60, and multiplying by 2, I conclude the rope will have a total length of 120.1 yards.

You are leaving out the weight of the rope and the horizontal force (or tension). This is especially important when the two sides have different anchoring points (base of the goalpost vs. 6ft).

And of course, we all are assuming that the man walking underneath is walking from sideline to sideline instead of goalpost to goalpost (at which point the rope would need 12 feet of slack) or better yet, just slide the rope up the goal post to a height of 6 feet with no slack....lol
