[News] Eisenberg: Ravens Don't Need To Sign Another Receiver

13 posts in this topic

Breshad Perriman’s knee injury is devastating for him, but not for the Ravens. Baltimore still has a speed threat in Mike Wallace, and enough other wide receiver targets for Joe Flacco.

After a 5-11 season, I think we need more than "shows promise" at any position let alone receiver.

We don't need to sign another receiver? Really? Is that because other than SSS, Wallace, and Aiken the rest of our UNPROVEN receivers are stars in the making? They remind me of Tanden Doss, David Reed, Aaron Millette, Tommy Streeter......Should I continue? Sign a PROVEN DURABLE WINNER NOW. If Boldin can be had at THE RIGHT PRICE ONLY would it really take away from what we are doing at this point?

Agree. I've had enough of how good all these young receivers look making plays in shorts and a jersey.

It turns out that Breshad doesn't have a torn ACL after all. Hopefully, he is available for the season, it's been reported.

Lets not forget..Chris Moore.. Ravens still have 2 burners either way you slice it..with Wallace and Moore..
Hopefully Perriman is ok..but if not Wallace and Moore pick up the load

It seems like Moore isn't getting much media love - is he not doing well so far in OTAs? I think he can be a major contributor this year, with or without Perriman.
Great to hear Perriman's injury not as serious as feared - he still will have to get his mind set right, so it doesn't hamper him any (fear of future injury). He ought to talk to Pitta about coming back after injuries.

I agree with you that no more WR's are needed, particularly since the good news about Perriman's knee was broadcast. Even if he isn't ready by game 1 he should be available for most of the season barring any other problems. As for the remainder of the WR's, they can be scary.

IHMO I really do not share the same feeling of security at WR. There is now one single deep threat that everyone is hoping returns to form in Wallace. Two solid WR's in SSSr and Aiken. Outside of that there is no one that has played well enough to take a starting job or shown promise becoming a legitimate deep threat, leaving a lot of slot or underneath WR's. If your not playing consistently enough in those roles to earn a starting job, it certainly would appear adding another WR is actually a very realistic possibility. This is especially the case where you can get better consistency and production from someone not already on this roster.

Plus you need to be ready for injuries, whether short term or long term. Perriman will most likely be put on PuP list now that the docs checked him out, so not available until halfway in the season or later.

I get the Ravens do not want to bring in another WR because that means their roster is not panning out the way they envisioned. At the end of the day though, you can only give players so many chances before moving on. All the WR's without starting jobs better realize the golden opportunity in front of them at this point because is rarely ever occurs and most position battles are much more difficult in general. IT is not everyday you have a chance to earn a starting role, usually a depth role at best. Seize the opportunity.

What is Renolds speed like? He may be the surprise player of the team.

If Bolden can be had for 3 Mil or less make the move! If any player can help Joe Flacco with completions and confidence to throw, they are worth getting. With a Rookie at LT and other young linemen expected to step up, it makes good sense to put plyers on the field who can catch the ball, Bolden can certainly do that. Perriman hopefully has a long carreer to look forward to , no reason to put more pressure on the kid.

EXACTLY the Ravens are good at the WR position! Get tired of hearing people talking about bring back Bolden and sign this guy and that guy! The Ravens are good with whom they have ALREADY! Like I said before if Joe can't work and utilize the WRs we have ALREADY the Ravens need to let Mallet run the show or get another QB IM TIRED OF EXCUSES! QB is the only position that is suspect to me rite now! Secondary is 2nd!
