O line will be a HUGE weakness infact. Esp if Yanda drops off..

We should at least sign Louis vasquez for some depth.

People are actually upset at the prospect of losing Monroe?  There's no denying that he's been decent when healthy, but how often has that been?  His off field opinions aren't worth the headache, either.  Even if Monroe is "good" depth, there's no way he's accepting a backup job when there are open starting jobs across the league.  This split was inevitable.  It's deeper than football, and it seems a lot of people don't realize that.

All true, but the lack of an experienced LT still makes me nervous.

You mean the guy who struggles in the Gary Kubiak ZBS? I wanted him too but you haven't heard me clamor for him for a reason.

I see your point but honestly if it was me knowing I have a quarterback coming off a acl tear I will try to give him the best protection offensive line wise.I don't know how good Ronnie Stanley is and it's unclear if he's better than Monroe or even ready to start. The situation between Monroe and The Ravens may be deeper than football but sometimes in life or in business you got put pride aside and do whats best for the cause. I never heard of Monroe having character issues but overall trading the guy does have it's risk.

Who said he was a bad fit? I haven't read anything to suggest he'd be a poor fit

No question it has its risks, but this is a parting that needed to happen.  It's good for both parties.

I completely disagree with the doing what's best for the cause comment, though.  I could maybe understand if he had started every game and played decently, but that hasn't been the case.  Since signing the extension, he's given no indication that he's actually worth keeping around.

It's a risk you take, but the point remains that Monroe was not sticking around here as a backup.  Is it the perfect situation if Stanley has struggles?  Nope, but Monroe is not much of a solution himself.

For once I agree with Sami.

I don't care how selfish and lazy he is. Unless he's directly a detriment to the team then he should be here at least a year. Hell Bryant mxkinnie had no interest in playing or even staying in shape as His only concern was making enough money to ball at the strip club, and he was a HUGE part of our super bowl win, and we knew of his character concerns all year long. We sucked it up and acted like adults about it. Cutting Monroe would be a foolish pride move.

Apperantly he struggled hence his release. Just what I've heard. Apologies if I had misunderstood

it really is just dumb. I know john urschel is liked here but he really is not anything more than average at BEST. Him and Zuttah are mediocre.Wasn't a fan of alex lewis as a pick either..

you guys will HATE the o line next year, trust me.

According to pro football focus Zuttah was ranked as their 12th best center before his injury so that's far from mediocre.

i look at his whole body of work..hes a bad pass protector and a good run blocker..not great.

Here is a simple fact guys. Monroe could very well be healthy this year and not have issues. With him our O line is better. He's a proven left tackle in this league when healthy. He was our best linesman in 2013 and was excellent for the jags in the previous two seasons. Hes only 28-29..in his prime

what do we have now? aside from yanda?

nothing.

I would much rather we keep Monroe. We need depth. We'll probably only get like a 5th round pick for him, I'd rather get a player.

Except the Monroe that we have now is not the Monroe from 3 years ago.  Even when he was healthy, he wasn't close to the level he was at back then.

correction Zuttah was rated as pro football focus 8th best center before he went down . He  may not have being in the  top 5 but I like to think he wasn't rated 8th overall by being a good run blocker alone especially since The Ravens were more pass happy last year .

look at his career history. PFF has it. He's average..hes also had injuries and is 30 now. He was never more than average in general..one season doesnt change that. Its like of Nick Mangold had a year where he was the number 10 center..doesnt mean hes the 10th best center, his career works says his very good.

Whilst Eugene Monroe is high I could see him "accidentally" hurt himself just to stay in the team

He wouldn't be the first high player in Ravens history.

If he stays healthy, then I would tend to agree.  Sometimes you need to take a chance on a veteran who has been injured a few times.

Looks like someone supported this claim. I didn't realize because he looked decent, but I'm no offensive kine specialist
