Who's Pierce?

Michael Pierce - UDFA.  Maybe an injury.  Maybe cut.  Probably doesn't really matter, though.

I find this flat out stupid. This is not a move we can afford to make. Monroe is good depth at worst and an insurance policy for a rookie LT.

Look what happened with our wr corps after we drafted perriman but we had no depth, we assume because we draft a position high that we can just clean house.

I strongly disagree with this move.

Has zero to do with his play and everything to do with injuries and his personality.  The writing has been on the wall.

We drafted Alex Lewis to be the backup LT. And maybe Wagner can play there in a pinch. I'm not too upset even if I think he's a decent player

Idk if thats why we drafted him. I think they drafted him bc he was the BPA. Hes been getting all his work at LG and been doing well there. I dont know that they want to put learning LG and LT on him in his rookie offseason. Let him learn one job and learn it well... but i guess maybe in a pinch he could.

My bet would be a vet signing as backup (Will Beatty if hes healthy now), Deondre Wesley, or theres always Hurst. Theyve rolled with him before - might as well do it again.

And you don't pay depth player $6.5 mil / year

It doesn't even matter. It's a sunk cost at this point regardless.

No doubt. All the yappin he has done about the league easing up on the marijuana ploicy hasn't helped his cause.

This year. But then pay over $4m next year for a player not on the roster.

It was really only $2m to keep him... bc whether pre or post June 1st, the total dead money is the same and we're likely not spending up to the max this year.... so with a pre june 1st we'd have less cap space to carry over from this year, but no dead money next. Now, we'll have more cap space this year that we wont use so we'll carry it over, but a $4m dead hit for him as well.

Tomato, ToMAHto.

No matter which way you slice it, it's still red.... and saves $2m

Sent Eugene a message asking why he's not at mini camp. Will let you know if/when I get a response.

Officially, he's not clear yet, post surgery (Harbs words). This is also the reason why he isn't cut - can't release injured player.

Today is the 1st day of Ravens mandatory mini-camp.  This week will tell us a lot about Monroe's future.

Post all comments, reporter tweets and updates you can find here.

Monroe needs to be here. We can't find another decent lineman who knows the playbook out of the blue.  Meanwhile, he might not be the starter, but having him there to mentor Stanley through his growing pains will be a plus.

Whilst Eugene Monroe is high I could see him "accidentally" hurt himself just to stay in the team

$6.5m

That's way too much to waste.  Play him until he goes down again.

I agree. To have depth at left tackle is pretty valuable and pretty rare.

For just one year and hopefully we can shore up the depth in that time. Is it that dire that we free up that space for thus year?

We have a RT coming off a lisfranc and a bunch of guards as our backup options at OT if we cut Monroe.

You cant go into the season blind. Cutting our only option for depth at LT is doing exactly that. Just a dumb move based purely on pride.

Unless of course they have options elsewhere..

Where was there any insult in this post??

That shouldn't affect job security. If it does then it's a disgrace. That's simple proper use of freedom of speech. If he fails a drug test then come talk to me, but preaching intelligently the benefits of medicinal marijuana compared to the dangers of opioid painkillers Is a complete no brainer in this day and age and as low as I think of him with his entitled attitude and softneas, this is one thing I applaud him for.

He's right about this aspect and he shouldn't be penalized for it.

It might not be that dire but since he hasn't really earned what he has been paid already, I'd rather use the savings this year to lock up Tucker on a long term.

Our RT is just fine - he was coming off a lisfranc last year - toward the end of the season looked pretty good to me.

Good points and all but even if Wagner is serviceable at LT, if Stanley has issues and needs to be benched then what does that mean for RT? Shuffle the line again? Take yanda out of his dominant position and make him into just a decent player as a T, put Wagner on the left and turn him from a monster RT into likely an average LT, then we have some combination of Lewis/Jensen/urschel as our guards and an average zuttah at center.

Anything going wrong with stanley causes a domino effect on the line and we reshuffle the hell out of it and turn 5 Good players at their respective roles I to 5 average players in a different role, collectively turning the line from very good to average with just 1 player. Keeping Monroe for one more year while we explore our options prevents all of that.

Not to mention, post June 1st gives us cap space to eat next year.
