[News] Late For Work 6/14: Will Ravens Consider Reunion With Anquan Boldin?

36 posts in this topic

No. The Ravens parted ways with Boldin because they knew he would start slowing down production. Aiken last season produced more than Boldin ever did in a season in Baltimore and Aiken was only the primary receiver half of the season. Aiken to me is an upgrade over Boldin and we need a speed guy if we are to replace Perriman, not an aging posession receiver.

Granted, Boldin is not a stretch the field receiver, just a guy who out battles the defense and ALWAYS seems to come up with 70+ receptions.(last year was "ONLY" 69 on a bad team). He is a better option than most of the guys we already have. Can you imagine the attitude our offense would have along with SSS. Bottom line.....you can never have enough WINNERS on your team. BRING BACK "Q" !

The Ravens parted ways with Boldin because they knew he would start slowing down. Really? He had 237 receptions in three years with SF. They parted ways because they didn't want to shell out the money he had remaining on his contract.
If you can get him at the right price I say add a PROVEN DURABLE WINNER NOW. BRING BACK "Q"!!!

Do we really need another receiver even with Perriman hurt? We certainly don't need someone without a lot of speed. Moore and Wallace should work out well and it seems we will be using a lot of two TE formations.

If 4th round pick Alex Lewis becomes the day 1 starter this would be the perfect example of Ozzie's 80/20 rule.

Allowing KO to leave via free agency and replacing him w/ someone that provides 80% of the production at 20% of the cost.

Producing 80% of what KO provided is still a gargantuan task...

I don't think we should count Moore in at this point. It may be too early. He's a mid-round rookie, and according to analyses, rather a project player at this point than a day-1 - or even a season-1 - starter.
But if Wallace stays healthy and delivers, I don't thzink we'll urgently need a replacement for Perriman.

If Boldin is cheap, he'd be good to have. If he came in and put up 750 years and 4 TDs, I'll take that!

Still I don't think we should choose the past over the future - with Aiken, Butler and Brown on the roster. Boldin may be a good addition for oe season - but that would mean a season less for our youngsters to prove themselves.

It was a bad year for Boldin with 789 receiving yards and 4TDs. You forget to mention that led the team. He was the #1 receiver even with Torrey Smith on the team. Gabbert and Kaepernick throwing to him.

It is worth considering. Q has fight and fire in the belly. I wonder how he and SSS would blend, however.

Boldin may not even want to come back after the way he was let go/traded from us. Didn't he find out while he was on his trip in Africa?
Would love to see back in purple and black though.
We'd have two of the toughest possession receivers going!

Honestly this offense and team needs a guy like Anquan Boldin. They've wasted two first round picks anyway, so I they might as well stick to something they do know.

No thanks...Boldin is not worth the $5-6 million per year that he wants....Would rather see the Ravens extend Tucker AND Aiken for that amount of money.

From a entertainment perspective, Boldin and Smith Sr. would be amazing to watch. They would bully DB's at possession grabs

If Boldin is looking for $5-6 million then I agree with you. However, if THE PRICE IS RIGHT you have to consider the health of SSS and will he be able to make it back all the way. Boldin would give us a good insurance policy. In regards to the younger UNPROVEN guys we have aside from Aiken and Wallace, I would take the option of Boldin over any of those receivers. A PROVEN DURABLE WINNER. Last I checked you can never have enough WINNERS on a team.

They would blend well enough for my team every Sunday. TOUGH WINNERS.

I have to agree with your comment. I can't say I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to come back. I do believe he could be an asset though. He knows Joe and he has fire in the belly like SSS.

I said it before and I'll say again. When it came down to trading "Q," Joe Flacco was in the midst of getting that fat contract. Had that been me I would've paid Q's contract and a few other guys we lost after that Super Bowl win.

Now you will ask have you ever been offered 120 million dollars before, and I would say no. I also would tell you I've never been offered a million dollars either. So my point is 50 or 60 million for Joe to take in order keep some of his key players beside him would have been great for him in more ways than one. He would've still had that chance to get offered those big bucks right about now.

I'm not blaming Joe for anything, I'm just saying if were me I would've took less money to keep my team together as much as possible. 50 million is a lot of money and I think it would've helped us keep some much needed spending money.

I also think that Q and Triple S would work great together. It would also benefit some of the younger receivers that we have. Mike Wallace would most definitely benefit from those two being on the field. You don't know where the ball is going. Especially when those TE's are on the field. I think that would be one heck of an of an offense right there.

I have to agree as well. Even though I would love see him back in the Black, Purple, and Gold. Come home Q.

I'm excited to see how we use Chris Moore as a Rookie. He was a TD machine in college and seems to be physical enough to handle and beat press coverage. And just heard that Perriman actually doesn't have a torn ACL. He is expected to be ready by Week 1. Lets all cross our fingers and hope we get to see him on Sundays.

A lot of you are speculating on the would of, could of's about SSS and Boldin playing together. While that would be awesome and all, if Boldin stayed - picking up SSS might never have been a consideration. From a personnel perspective they are the same player.

At this point it would be a very smart and wise decision to sign Boldin for a slot WR. Campanaro has not shown the ability to stay healthy, so whatever potential is there is left untapped. Disappointed really. Every time I get excited at seeing him making plays, it comes to an abrupt halt. Reynolds is going to need some time to develop and Boldin would definitely aid that aspect of his growth. Consider it a great swap Campanaro for Boldin.

Boldin having a down year, simply mean he will be a bargain deal. The only stipulation is how much he has left in tank. Last year might not be a good year stats wise, but he wasn't exactly in a high rolling offense either, the whole team's offense had it's share of difficulties. Give him a two year deal, first year guaranteed and second as an option. Don't even complain about his contract because you will still get more production from him than what your paying for.

MT UMORE should be Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Warren Sapp, and Reggie Wayne. Irvin only got the nod cause he works for the network.

Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Warren Sapp and Andre Johnson

If the Ravens were to resign Boldin, they would probably move Smith to slot.
