[News] Buck Allen's Next Step Is To 'Be Explosive, Be Great'

10 posts in this topic

My opinion is that the top 3 RBs are Forssette, Allen and Dixon. It will be hard to keep 4 RBs on the 53 man roster. These 3 RBs are quite similar and interchangeable. They fit Trestman's style of RBs. What's missing in that group is a short yardage bruising RB. Taliaferro and Richardson are similar in that regard, but Taliaferro has better vision, and was effective in the ZBS in his rookie season. Not sold at all on Richardson. For him to be very effective in the NFL dictates a complete reversal of what he had done his first 3 yrs. Thats very hard to do. For Terrence West, the chances of making the team is very slim. He got carries last year because of the injury depleted RB corps.
If Ravens carry more than 3 RBs, the 4th one would be Taliaferro.

Taliaferro is likely gone, he has demonstrated no upside over Allen (who all considered similar, will be be given his chance to prove enhancement in his second year) taliaferro is like Marlon Brown last year but with fewer spots to keep him. West and Richardson will compete to be the power back and try to make the Ravens keep four running backs. West looked very good his first year in Cleveland he was at least as good as Crowell but they went to a weird split time system and that hurt both backs mental development. This inept management continued and led to West getting upset and in pettine's dog house. This caused problems leading to his disillusionment and release which didn't have time to instantly resolve in Jacksonville but which are countered by being with his hometown team and closer to his family support system here in Baltimore. All snippets from trusted sources indicate he spent his time training all off season at the castle. West is imho the most interesting back to watch this training camp and preseason. I love the native son storyline wherever but especially when it's my home too. Richardson is the wildcard, it will depend on his return to college form and will to play. Interesting to watch too, I really hope he does well. Dixon would have to play poorly, fumble constantly and have a poor attitude to get cut or not be IR'ed due to an injury that pops up.

I honestly think Dixon will become the every down back like Rice in a year or two.

I agree with you about Dixon. If he and Keenan and that defensive guy from division 2 can do as well as they did in college they will be great. But that is a very big if. Let's hope.
