2016 Injury Vent Thread

43 posts in this topic

Well, here we are NEXT Season, and as luck would have it, in our case BAD luck, another one bites the dust. Injuries piss me off, because you invest backing a player, maybe even a Jersey? and just when you think we have a Jacoby burner replacement for Joe, guess again, maybe Wallace is that guy now. Campy, C'mon man, my daughter told me you were hitting on her awhile back at Jimmy's, so I started rooting for you, and whats up, get on the field. Kafusi, dude if you get left behind, which will happen, ask Kruger how he liked it, wish you well. Ok, I am done. Next

not sure what you just said but...

yeah injuries are starting to really get on my nerves. i feel its worse now than its ever been, and it is really putting a hurting on this great game. so much excitement is constantly sapped out of fanbases because there are so many devastating injuries and injury bugs tearing down good teams.

its just so hard to ever be excited anymore when EVERY YEAR it seems that we have a good shot of doing something big and those hopes are dashed because we get trampled by injuries. rather than having big hopes for the season i find myself wondering when our next big injury is coming and who is it gonna be.

Last year seemed really bad for injuries all around the league. Every team seemingly lost at at least one star for the year. Our Ravens lost about 4 lol

Seems like the better shape players get in the more injuries pile up. Just do it like the old days. Grab a beer. Eat a pizza. Hit the practice field. Wallah no injuries.

I'm starting to wonder if it's an issue with the coaching stafff.  Maybe it's the drills, maybe it's the pressure of making everyone compete for their job, I don't know.  But after so many injuries each and every year, the common denominator here isn't the players.

to piggy back off your comment

we do run a very physical camp

but  players/teams through out the league fall to injuries,

B.P will not make or break our season, yes I wanted to see what he had

if he is lost for the season then next year he is still healing,

anyway, the comment falls on all coaches

they are trying to make up for practice mandates

Well the team did change up the conditioning program this yr and in a sport with so much running and contact injuries are bound to happen.

As far as saying a reason for injuries is due to making people compete for their jobs I think it's a foolish statement. They shouldn't be half assing whether they're spot is handed to them or not so what's the alternative? Mental reps only?

I don't have an alternative.  But we lost more starters last year than any other team, and I think the year before that.  So we are doing something different than normal.

Maybe, just maybe, going 100% every time is a bad idea.   Especially considering how many of these injuries weren't game related.

I'm not saying I'm right.  I'm saying it's something worth considering.

i agree. I think Harbs is too gung ho in practice. players shouldnt be going 120% in may or june.  He's probably a big part of the problem.

Ok so what drill and speed was perriman doing when injured?

ligaments can get worn out so when practice does occur it wont take much to cause strains and sprains..

i think harbs is a nutcase to be honest but it runs in the familly.

" The injury apparently occurred after Perriman caught a pass on a back shoulder fade during one of the drills, went down without any contact and continued to practice. On Friday, he told the Ravens the knee was a little sore."
-Don Markus, Baltimore Sun.

I'm surprised, I thought it would have been a sharp twist or turn, but it doesn't sound like it.

Ligaments are more likely to strain if you're using a repetitive motion, like if you're rowing a boat, not just by working out and running.

Again you fail to answer the question. You claim it's due to going hard all the time so give proof to back up your claims.

Harbs is notorious ...even the players have said ( who have been on other teams) that the ravens camp is the toughest they have been in.

His acl injury isn't due to going too hard in camp. There's also issues with hamstring pulls that can be tied in to not warming up properly or the long time standing around between reps that happens more often when you have an inflated offseason roster.

Except this isn't the thread for his injury.  This is about all the injuries, mostly from the past couple of years.  And then the new trend that seems to be starting.

Or are you thinking that's all just randomly bad luck and had nothing to do with the team?  We just added the conditioning training this year on a whim?

So it's a thread about all injuries and you're upset I talked about an injury?   Lol

No you didn't. You again are generalizing when asked about a specific event.

It wasn't our Coach! We had a veteran ball club that harbaugh destroyed! Ed Reed and Pollard was forced out of Baltimore. He's not a great Coach and it's starting to show now.

Didn't Perriman hurt himself on a non-contact play? That would seem to shift the blame away from the intensity of practice.
