Breshad Perriman - Partially Torn ACL?

he was a great route runner at college. He was not a freak athlete. He was def the best route runner in college but was under the radar and his size/athletic ability wasnt considered elite.

Which is why every single scouting report had major knocks on his route running, right?

How long until technology progresses enough so that we can give Perriman a bionic knee? Someone get this man the T1000's lower half.
And can the FO outsource the job of drafting WR's to someone else?

Route running skills could use some refinement. - NFL.com

Will round off breaks and is segmented when running intermediate in and out routes. - ESPN

Man, he really sounds like the best, doesn't he?

I gave you three scouting reports; they all must be wrong, especially since they got paid to do it.

How about this. Show me one that said he was an elite route runner.

Really feel for this guy. I liked him coming out and have had high hopes since. Guy just can't catch a break. I have no idea how to feel about our offense now.

in all fairness, nfl and espn are absolutely horrid with literally every football related opinion they post. NFL is now 100% clickbait, theres no point in even reading a nfl.com scouting report.

also, people getting paid to analyze sports arent always getting paid because they are good.

They're getting paid for a reason, but the point still remains that the consensus was that he was not a good route runner and that he had to do significant work.

Let's be real here- do you take the word of @Sami84 (I'm looking through his or her old posts and his or her assessment of most players is very amusing) or do you take the word of several scouting reports and 31 teams that passed on him?

I don't know what makes me more sad, Perrimans condition, or the complete lack of intelligence and common sense in some of these posts.

It's a shame really. I feel bad for the kid. Depressing to see him have this happen again, and worse to see "fans" pile on him and everyone else over an injury.

NFL.com has some good respected analysts amongst the junk. I believe lance zierein writes many of their scouting reports.

Never understood how people blame the GM for injuries.  As stated, Perriman had no injury history in college.  He gets two unrelated knee injuries, to different knees, that aren't even factored into the genetic condition he and his dad had (aka freak injuries) and you want to blame Ozzie?

What Genetic condition?

Osgood-Schlatter Disease (Knee Pain)-OrthoInfo - AAOS. Osgood-Schlatter disease is a common cause of knee pain in growing adolescents. It is an inflammation of the area just below the knee where the tendon from the kneecap (patellar tendon) attaches to the shinbone (tibia).

We are ok at wideout. It's a shame to see him injured but I'm not near in a rush to make a trade.

This gives Wallace, a proven veteran more snaps and with Aiken, smith and Moore and Campanaro we have tremendous versatility.

Fixed it for ya.

I'm not convinced this is the issue. The O-S disease is in Adolescents. Perriman is far from adolescence. He is well past those issues, and shouldn't have any effects during college. The PAtellar tendon is affected in this case, he has had a PLC and ACL now.

So there has to be something else. If he had pain in college before being drafted, there is a more serious issue than O-S....

@Mad Puppy,  I don't know whether there is an association either, some doctors say yes and others say no. So if the medical community is divided over this...I was just answering your question, lol.

Agreed K-Dog!  Folks need to put this in its proper perspective:  Perriman isn't at fault here and I am sure he must be absolutely devastated.  He injured his right knee in his first year, he lost one of his best friends in Tray Walker, and by his own admission he said he was in "a dark place" after those two events, now his Dad is recuperating from a very debilitating stoke and currently he has sustained an injury to his left knee.  I would think a little compassion is due here as I think he has had enough to deal with without folks taking their frustration out on him.   How about a little moral support for the guy?  It isn't his fault.  There are other WR's out there, plus our own.  My goodness,  c'mon people.

he was saying the genetic condition isnt playing a factor here..

Does this move Darren Waller back to WR?

It could be an option and I am sure Oz will look at all the options he can and seriously consider all of them before he makes a decision on what path he takes..

BP was already under a big amount of pressure before this new injury, so I think it's important for us fans to support him through these tough times. He is family after all. You can't prevent injuries. They're apart of the game.

Welppp.... I guess we're back in wait in see mode again. Atleast we know exactly the extent of what he tore this year, but damn damn damn, how could this happen? 1st round pick out for the year in 2 straight seasons before he can even play a single snap. Still hoping and praying for a optimistic second opinion and that he will be able to make a return this year but all signs point to him being out for the year AGAIN. I've  seen the name Sergio Kindle a few times in the comments and it sends shivers up my spine from the fact that Breshad Perriman may play his first NFL game in his 3rd year, he has torn ligaments in both knees and may never be the explosive guy we drafted, and he seems about as injury prone as they get. It's like we're playing a game of horse but instead "Bust" and he's engraved the B and U already without even playing a game.  Hard to judge a player before they get a chance to play but damn it's hard not to when the man seems to have cursed knees.

And now we are practically at the same 2015 receiving squad plus or minus a Mike Wallace and a few rooks, with Flacco, Steve Smith, and Justin Forsett all in comeback mode from major injuries.

Ugh atleast it ain't Flacco, but I'd say we better better be on the hunt for an extra WR, Anquan Boldin is still out there and if I was Ozzie I'd be working him out the second Breshad Perriman gets put on IR. Boldin is old for sure but dude has the heart of a lion, big time veteran savvy, loves Baltimore  and can still make plays and be reliable... should come cheap too.

Everyone go ahead and pray we sign Boldin I know I am.

Steve Smith

Wallace

Boldin

Aiken

Then rooks and youngsters battle it out in pre season to fill in depth.

Boldin is not the answer,  he is the exact opposite type of wr that BP "is".

No one should be blaming Perriman or Oz you cant help injuries in sports. Let me get this out though IT STINKS but it's no ones fault. Perriman does need support from everyone he can get it from for sure. The true and simple fact is it is going to be an uphill battle both mentally and physically for Breshad but the good news is he has already been through this once so he knows what he has to do to come back from this and he is still young.
