Breshad Perriman - Partially Torn ACL?

I may be inclined to agree if this were the thought process.  Another thing to take into account is that he will now go through his 2nd season and still only have 1 day of training camp.

I'd love for hm to be healthy enough this year to be able to play at higher than 80%.  Depends on if the chances are at a higher percentage that he has the problem again.  If it's not a higher chance that he tears the ACL again, then I'd go ahead with stem cells.

Yeah if the stem cells don't present a higher risk of re-injury then I'm all for it

Encouraging update. Sticking to my guns.... Perriman will be back, and he will produce in a Ravens uniform.

Whether it's later this year, or in 2017 this kid is going to make an impact. Here's hoping that its a minor, partial tear and that it can heal with plenty of time for him to return in 2016. I want the best for this kid - he's been through a very rough couple months. Let's get him some good news.

Reports are coming out that Perriman's ACL tear "might not be too serious" and that "he could play this season"... Where have we heard that before?

This time possibly the most prestigious orthopedic surgeon in the world told us the news, not Harbaugh

I will say if the Ravens missed- communication tactic's resurface about him this time around the front office will smell of a fish kill. No coach speak or spin job will be tolerated by the fan base or media. Some feet will be held to the fire ! And rightfully, so.  As a matter of fact it's over due..

Wait, so you still think that last year was "coach speak" and they actually knew he was going to take a long time to get back on the field, and purposely chose to misinform everyone? To what end? They enjoyed watching us think he'd be back any day now, and then having our hopes shattered? Or, they know he's a bust bc theyve seen him play and used the injury stuff as a mask to just keep him off the field, as to avoid the criticism of missing on a 1st round draft pick at WR again?

I've got some extra aluminum foil for you.

I would never have picked him in the draft based on the info in that article.

Just curious.

Do you have all, I mean ALL, the injury reports for the RAVENS from middle school on up?

I will bet you a donut most RAVENS super stars have had injuries from middle school on up.

So according to Adam Schefter the preliminary exam shows that it might not be a significant tear, still needs to do the arthroscopic surgery tomorrow.

Man... Why did they have to release this report? They should've stayed quiet until he just suits up one day

Maybe they are trying to be transparent with every step since they messed up with the pcl injury last season

I actually think there may be less of a chance of reinjury to do the fact that it is a more natural heal.  However, I'm not taking this from any medical information, just a guess.  I could be way off.

Yea I could see why that might be a better option, hopefully that is the case.

I just don't know what to think of Perriman. Sounds great that it may not be serious, because let's be real: suffering from a season-ending knee injury two-years in a row is a bit ridiculous if you are a rookie. The odds to surmount that have to be high. It would be no small task for him to recover from that and still play in the NFL. I firmly believe a lot of failed prospects are a result of simply injuries catching up to them and keeping them out during a critical time of development. I think the window for success in the NFL is a very small window. Not that you can't have a guy be a guy for a couple years and then shine in his old age a la Justin Forsett--I just think it's a very low probability.

I hope the best for Perriman, but I want him to play football. We're looking at drafting another WR early next year if this keeps up. Can't win with a guy who has never played a down of training camp let alone actual football in two years of being in the league. I'm sure he's just as upset as anyone, probably even more than anyone else.

This is overblown just because he is a first round pick and he has yet to touch the field. Injuries happen and it is unfortunate but it is part of the game. He may only be out a few months. If he finished practice after partially tearing his acl is a good sign it wasn't too serious. Unfortunately after how long his last injury lasted fans will be giving him a hard time again. But injuries happen he will be back on the field as soon as he can and him taking starter snaps before even playing in a game is a good sign that he has the talent.

I would think the tear would have to be pretty minor.  Didn't one of his teammates say he finished practice?  I would think he would have a tough time even standing up if he has a significant tear.  I have witnessed many friends tear ACLs playing basketball and I have never seen one even walk off the court.

Exactly! Which is why looking at the partial tear is a glimmer of hope. We won't know until tomorrow, but if you finish practice he may only need stem cells which would be 2-3 months to recover instead of the entire season on IR. Sad because you can see his talent jump off the screen.

It doesn't really mean much.  My cousin tore his and walked around for 4 days before it swelled up and he got it looked at.  Everyone reacts differently.

Even though Joe was visibly in pain, he stayed on the field and walked off on his own.  I recall Brady walking off when he tore his as well.

Hell, Joe even finished the game.

Trying to be the optimist.  But even walking off the field could be much different than finishing practice.

Joe played two snaps or whatever it was and only threw one pass that was incomplete and then handed it off twice. Finishing practice sounds like it was for an extended duration. I am probably one of the more optimistic people here though. We won't know until tomorrow.

I mean after all, its just Steve Smith Sr.  Professional athlete.  What does he know ?

Quote

The 2015 first-round pick could miss another full season because of a knee injury, but veteran wide receiver Steve Smith Sr.icon-article-link.gif had strong words for anyone who wants to criticize Perriman or label him a bust.

"The first thing that comes to my mind is all the bull [crap] butt people that are going to have their comments about he's this and he's that," Smith told ESPN at Lardarius Webbicon-article-link.gif’s charity softball game Sunday. "The injuries he sustained are not injuries Ozzie Newsome saw coming. These are not injuries that you can control. These aren't training injuries.

"These aren't injuries where he's not strong enough or not tough enough. When you slightly tear anything, that requires a lot of treatment and possibly surgery. I feel bad for him as a man because you're going to hear all the naysayers who weren't there, who didn't see what happened and don't really understand you can't control injuries."

Pretty sure the game went into OT, right? I mean, either way, he was walking on it.
