[News] Eisenberg: National Media Doubt Ravens Again, Which Is A Good Thing

21 posts in this topic

Yea, 17th isn't that bad. Still too many questions on the Ravens roster to predict anything better. Although I think the team will be better, I doubt the Ravens are getting slighted with this prediction.

I think the defense will clearly show an improvement from last year. However, there are so many questions on the offense: Trestman is an average OC, Flacco is average and very inconsistent from week to week, SSS is coming back from serious injury. Perriman has never played a down in the NFL. Then the potentially new O-line. It might take a while for the team to gel.

I love when the national sports media doubts the Ravens. because it allows all the players and coaches to prove them wrong. It is all in the coaches and players hands now!!! This should put a serious chip on their shoulders. Think about it for a minute.
The national media has now doubted guys like
Flacco, SSS, Sizzle, Dumervil, Yanda, Forsett, Weddle and all the rest of the team. We all know the team finished 5-11 last season but not once did this team just out and out quit if you don't quit you always have a shot to win. Just my opinion but doubting guys like these falls right into the Ravens wheel house.

In my mind, the underdog role is better anyway. Playing like we have something to prove and to be a bit ticked off will hopefully only help the Ravens be more focused, hungry and physical.

Agreed, also seems the ravens play better as the underdog versus the favored team

What does anybody know this time of year? Nothing. Last year at this time, folks had us going to Super Bowl. We know what happened. Nobody can predict injuries, nobody. Nobody can measure a man's heart. And who knows when Flacco will come back from injury or how our offensive line will be. Lot's of unknowns.

Camp has not even started yet and we have our first injury of note in Perriman.
I hoped that I would be wrong, but I kind of felt that he was going down again this year before he even got started. Just a big disappointment either way. We can't seem to draft WR's that are durable enough to make it into a full season.

This will not be the year to try to kick your nail biting habit.

How about screaming and jumping up and down habit which my Dad gets upset about?

The Ravens have not drafted well for several drafts. Looking at the roster, the better players are over 30. Among the young guys, only Tucker looks like one of the best at his position. Mosley is solid but losing ground to some of the other ILBs in the league. OZ gave decent contracts to guys like Webb, J. Smith, and Pitta with none of them earning a pro bowl. Add to that the guys coming off injuries and the guys who are always injured and you get a 17th rank roster.

Lets be realistic. Our "Deep" WR competition gives us Mike Wallace, Aiken, and SSS backed up by the second coming of Tanden Doss, David Reed, and Aaron Millette.

This is nothing new with the media, this happens almost every year. As a group the national sports media is heavy pro Patriots, Steelers and will give almost everybody the nod over the Ravens. In fact, I am shocked when someone in the media (that's not local) praises the Ravens. I mean let's be real, who cares what the say? Their approval is not required for the Ravens to play :) GO RAVENS! 25

Finishing third the last three years in your division why should Ravens have any respect? Especially with record getting worse.

How can you think that when Ravens really have no proven linebackers?

Now with Perriman lost for the season and not knowing the prognosis on injured players coming back, who really knows? After last season, we all know injuries can gravely affect a season. So it goes to reason that there is some trepidation.
