[News] Late For Work 6/9: People Throwing Shade At Trent Richardson For Talking Hall Of Fame

25 posts in this topic

Eugene Monroe says he’s cleared to play, which means we could get more clarity at left tackle soon. Timmy Jernigan wants to be the ‘bigger person’ in the Warren Sapp saga. Jack Del Rio provides Harbs with a good example of how to kick off Twitter.

So we keep talking about Stanley playing left guard this season if he doesn't play tackle, but how come we never talk about this going the other way around? As has already been stated, we have the cap room to keep both on board this season and having Monroe gives us great depth at the position. But whoever the reserve LT ends up being should get a shot at guard, why does it matter if its Stanley or Monroe? Either one of them would be the best LG on our roster if we put 'em there.

it could go either way, but they wouldnt automatically be the best LG. Im all for giving either a shot at it, but guards deal with bigger interior lineman and both are known for their footwork, technique and athleticism.... not strength, anchor, toughness and a road grading mentality. They could be better than Jensen, Urschel, Lewis or Zuttah but its not a foregone conclusion like you make it sound.

Richardson is NOT the "most memorable" draftee in the last five years to fall victim to immature circumstances. 'Johnny Football' easily takes that cake. Rooting for Richardson. Would love to see Richardson, Allen, Dixon and Juice break camp in the backfield. Cheap and effective. All depends on the OL.

I guess Richardson should have said, "I'd like to play two or three more years, be slightly better than mediocre, retire at 30 and be broke by 40."

Why would anyone laugh at a guy who basically says, "I want to give it all I've got. I want to be great. I want to be memorable." Isn't that every player's dream? Makes no sense to me.

Was the same thing when Flacco said that he thinks of himself as an elite QB... and then all the mud he got for that...

Monroe is getting paid like a LT, he's not gonna be put at G... Believe me. He's gonna sooner be gotten rid of to free up cap space.

(And yes, I still think Monroe is gonna be our LT when the season comes :D)

If Trent was on the Steelers, the laughter would be heard from Mars, in Baltimore.  Take off the shades...

I think Trent has a good shot at sticking. If you really honestly evaluate who we have at the RB position we have some good players, the kind that are on every roster in the NFL. As a reminder, don't get hyped up about guys making plays in OTA's. They are saying Geno Smith looks good. That should tell you everything you need to know about OTA's. Interesting how everybody "Makes Plays" in shorts and a jersey.

Nothing wrong with Trent's dream. Isn't that every football player's dream? All he said is what any ambitious player would say. The people who are bashing him are the ones who either never had dreams or never made them happen. They're also known as losers. Better at tweeting than anything else. Whether Trent was a Raven or a Patriot, I'd respect his dream. I think he should be applauded for not settling for mediocrity like his opponents apparently do. Good for him. Make it happen young man.

A comment on Trent's dream: I don't think you can build a great team with players who don't dream of being great themselves.

I have to disagree with Sarah on one thing, She says if Trent Richardson does make a comeback he'll have to share the reps with other "viable options". Umm those other viable options have all proven to NOT stay healthy. Doubt Forsett will have that magical season again.

Nothing wrong with Trent having that Ali mentality, as being the greatest....:)

If you cant even verbalize it... how in the world are you ever going to achieve it. TRich can seize the moment and shut up all doubters moving forward. I'm hoping that he does. What a set up question however. The media asks him what his dream is and then bashes him for it! SMH!

Well its Buck Allen, who really hasn't had health concerns, and a rookie.

About as healthy as it gets for the RB position. And Forsett obviously doesn't need a "magical" season. If he averages 4.2 YPC like he did last season, he will be just fine.

If you look at our RB's who do we have that could be a difference maker. I'm hoping Dixon is that guy, but realistically we have a bunch of ordinary RB's the same as most other teams in the league have. No reason if Trent stays healthy why he can't give us a solid power back down hill option.

Forsett and Dixon are really who TRich has to beat out...LT has not proven anything more then Richardson and has less of a pedigree and is less durable. Buck has shown that he can play but probably is not a lead back. (solid back up). TWest (same as buck). Forsett is not getting any younger and while I love his versatility... there is no reason to believe that a Richardson in top form may not beat him out. The biggest question mark is Dixon, who seems to have that special skillset (like a Darren Sproles) but Sporles is not a lead back... and has made more of a career out of being a great pass catching and change of pace RB. Wouldn't be shocked to see Richardson as the starter and Dixon as the change of pace back for us this year. And if that happens.... behind a very solid OL and a very balanced offense.... You could expect a big year from whoever starts for us! (this could be Forsett 2.0)

Maybe because he's never really shown he can be a solid, down hill, power back?

Health wouldn't even crack my top 5 concerns for Richardson. He's simply got to be a better football player and runner if he wants to make this team.

I'd call it a long shot certainly.

Have to disagree with you there. Trent is not saying he IS the greatest but that he aspires to be great. Ali was never "the greatest". He merely asserted he was. An assertion that was never proven nor could it be since he never fought all the great fighters that ever existed - a requirement for the mantle of "greatest". Nobody, and no team, can ever be "the greatest" for the same reason. The concept of "the greatest" is largely an invention by the various sports media to drum up fan interest. Your heartfelt opinions may differ but logic is logic.

I think the biggest question mark for us this year is:
1. How healthy are (Joe, SSS, Suggs, Jimmy, Perriman and Wagner)
2. Who starts beside CJ
3. Will Stanley be as good as advertised
4. Can Leslie Frazer right the ship in our DBackfield
5. How will Webb transition to S
6. Will Correa, Kafusi and Stanley make an immediate impact
7. Can we return to our dominant ways at M&T
8. Who will be our lead back
9. Will Weddle mean more TO's finally
10. Will Waller be the X factor!
11. Will changing the sod mean less injuries
12. Will Harbs scale back camp a little to ensue less injuries

Those seem to be the biggest question marks for 2016. I think by the end of camp we will have answered at least 7 of these gray areas. Which suggests that we should have little doubts about who we are and out identity heading into game 1 of 2016.

Point taken. Hope Dixon turns out to be a player.

I mean, he's a rookie, so I don't expect him to be the primary back this year anyway.

Looking for "growth" from him throughout the year (much like year 1 for Ray Rice) so that he and Allen can be the top two backs next season.

It's the same as the question to Flacco "are you a top five QB?". Flacco replied he thought he was #1. Media loves to make fun of players for some reason. I wish Trent the best.

More importantly look how Flacco showed them by winning SuperBowl 47, earning MVP and tieing HoF Joe Montana's post-season record of 11 TD to 0 Ints. If not for a blackout, I honestly believe Flacco breaks that record 12 TD to 0 Ints.

Trent need look no farther to realize he can do the same. The ball is literally in his court, make the most of it.

Trent Richardson, remember this quote:

There is nothing impossible to him who will try.” – Alexander the Great

You dig in and give it everything you got, that's good enough for Ravens fans. Nobody can ask for more from any player, go get them Raven! GO RAVENS! 25
