[News] Bronson Kaufusi Out Till Training Camp, Joe Flacco Running

Is Bronson Kaufusi even signed yet?

Do not believe so, partly due to injury. I think they are waiting to see him in enough action to negotiate a contract. I read that 3rd rounders have a bit more flexibility with signing their rookie contracts, with the signing bonus portion, if memory serves correct. The rookie contract salaries are per-determined. Essentially he can earn slightly more if the Ravens deem him worthy of a bigger contract. Bottom line is Kaufusi needs to get back on the field to earn a bigger contract but more importantly get the playbook down and adjust to pro level defense and schemes so he can see the field earlier in the season. You gotta want production out of your 3rd rounder, even if not starting.

Definitely not the type of start you want for a 3rd rounder that is expected to contribute this season, even if not starting. I do feel good with Brent Urban who appears to have left the injuries behind him where they belong.

My biggest concern is still this, both Kaufusi and Correa are not locks to even be starters at this point, yet were drafted to fill the need for pass rushers. While getting Suggs back is great, he is not the same Suggs he was in his prime. It will free up Dumervil to get home and not play so many snaps keeping him fresh. Defense really (at this point) only added more depth and not necessarily difference makers. Here is hoping someone or some people step up and emerge as true pass rushers. If your on defense and want to be starter, this is you key = sacks/pressures/disrupting the QB.

O yea just like the report on Perriman. Might be another guy that misses the entire year. One of these days the Ravens will learn to be honest with the fans.

So you really think the Ravens knew in August that Perriman's injury was one that was going to keep him out the entire year and just lied to fans about it? Did the possibility occur to you that they didn't know the severity of the injury?

Could Kafusi miss the entire season? Sure it is possible. Do you think the Ravens would know this now and keep would keep it a secret? I don't think so.

I agree with you @balfan23 right now Kafusi is taking up a valuable roster spot so hypothetically speaking if they knew for sure he was done for the season it would be in their best interest to get another body to fill that roster spot and get some reps in. Kafusi is just injured right now I really don't think its season ending. but the injury and lack of work is probably not helping his contract negotiations out at all.

Unfortunately back injuries can be tricky and unpredictable. Hopefully it will cure up more quickly than is pessimistically predicted so far.

I know what you mean. My Dad's back bothers him from when he hurt it 2 years ago. So back injuries are definitely unpredictable. I just hope that Kaufusi's back gets better quickly.

Is Bronson going to be another Perriman deal where the Ravens knew nothing about s a injury even if its all over the web? If it's a mussel no big deal but if it's a disk, maybe see ya next year

Actually, in the third round, they can negotiate a higher base salary. I'm not sure how much higher, but it's the only round that they can. Not sure why.

Don't say he is out for the season. The Kufusi injury sucks  because he needs to be in the gym tweaking his body for his shift to the rush olb/ 4-3 defensive end position. He is not an interior player in the nfl. He is in the mold of Julius peppers and Jared Allen. He needs to cut some excess weight and tack on a little muscle to play up to his optimal standard. a leaner faster more explosive and a touch stronger and No reason he can not be as good as Jared Allen.
