[News] Lardarius Webb Impressed By Rookie Cornerback Tavon Young

9 posts in this topic

Seems like a good kid... we seem, however, to be much deeper in the slot than on the outside.

True fact. I will say though that with a healthy Smith and Wright playing outside, the outside will be much more secured.

Outside secondary was exposed last season mostly to do with lack of adequate coverage over top at safety. Saying as safety position was addressed already, I feel this is a mute point. I would like to see more depth outside, unless the Ravens feel they have adequate depth by sliding some guys outside. Not sure I feel confident in that type of move, if necessary. Guess Webb could probably slide outside from safety, only he doesn't have the same quickness and explosion he once had pre-injuries and mostly played the slot last season.

There isn't enough depth and he seems like a quality kid, but as for playing time determination, still a long way to go to assess that.

Davis and young will get playing time over Wright and powers by playoff time and will be Impact cornerbacks. T.young is more than just a slot. He can play outside as well.

A great pass rush up front will make everybody in the secondary better. Time for some guys to step up and time for one of our defensive leaders to show up at "Fighting Weight" and rededicate himself.

After how strong the secondary finished with little to no pass rush this makes me excited. So many guys with great potential. Getting Suggs back already boosts what the team had from last season. Add in Kaufusi, Correa (may also play ILB), Judon, Ochi, and a second year guy in Smith.. Our pass rush looks to get back on track. I think this team has great depth at almost every position now except there are some guys who need to step up and prove themselves. The biggest weakness for this team and it has been the past 2 seasons is health. If we can keep our IR list down to 10 players and that list of players does not include Flacco, Weddle, Suggs, Dumervil, Mosley, Jimmy Smith, and Steve Smith I really think this team can do damage and potentially end up back in the playoffs.

I like the depth we're building at CB.  Young, Davis and Powers should all help this season.

I'm really interestedt to see what Jerraud Powers can do for us. He played with a great CB tandem in Az.

Should be interesting to see how he does now that he's not playing in the shadows of Peterson and Branch.
