51 Brendon Ayanbadejo days until kickoff....

A leader and Special Teams ace for years. Part II of the first bother pair to play for and win separate SB's with the Baltimore Ravens (need to check, maybe a first in the entire NFL). Would at times fill in on D when needed and contribute, but really made his living on special teams.

Outspoken political activists when it comes to Human Rights, particularly the rights for gay marriage... to the point where he refused to visit the White House after winning the SB since Obama didnt support a Bill that would grant gay couples to marry as federal law (at least i think thats what it was). But, unlike some other recently retired Raven, he never let his activism and off field passions get in the way of what he did on the field.

Didnt bring the outside stuff to the locker room or practice field. Just showed up and did his job, and did it well. And, took a pretty brave stance sticking up for the rights of gay couples in a relatively unfriendly environment... but didnt catch flack for it bc he earned the respect of his fellow team mates first.

We've been missing a guy like him imo... that ST Ace to lead the unit. Trawick was on his way, but hes gone now. Juice might be that kind of guy, we'll see.

For something that he let get in the way on the field, you certainly mention it a lot ;)

Well, what else is there to really say about him. I could only mention his ST prowess so much.... Hes probably more well known for his activism than his play on the football field.

48 Will Hill days until kick off.

I don't recall Will Hill wearing 48, but apparently he did.
In my defense, is this really the kind of thing you need to remember ?

I remember Will Demps. Started as an undrafted rookie there for special teams and ended up being the starting SS early in the season.

Yes he did and, if I recall, the Browns Phil Taylor kept him from falling over on some FG and XP attempts during our game - that's good sportsmanship.

45 Corey Harris days until kickoff.

497907-dec-1999-corey-harris-of-the-balt

A free agent that was the top backup SS for the Ravens during the later part of the 90s and for the legendary 2000 defense. During 2000 he picked off two passes. In 2001 he became the starter racking up 73 tackles, 8 pass defenses, and 2 interceptions. He left via free agency to the Lions for a couple seasons after that and then retired.

;)

Just kidding.  I know it is a different Corey Harris

I also remember this one vividly when he pancaked the crap out of Willis.

This was the play I was thinking of. One of my all time favorite Raven games. They literally won that game on attitude.

43 Haruki Nakamura days until kickoff.

GYI0063058007.jpg

He was a pretty good special teams player and a good blitzer from the SS spot. He eventually left the Ravens to be a starter for the Panthers for one season and then was out of the nfl.

Having he and Zibby as back up safeties was an awesome luxury. Reed, Landry, Zibby and Haruki were a great group. Depth, hard-hitters and playmakers all over the place.
