53 Jameel McClain days until kickoff

Not exceptional, but he was a solid role player for the Ravens' defense for a couple years. Here's him tackling a new Raven, Mike Wallace.

How could you not remember Jeff Blake? He stated what, 1 or 2 games for us. Lol!! Mike Flynn though, he was a beast!!

This is a really late response, but Blake actually ended up starting 10 games for the Ravens back in 2002. He was an improvement on Grbac (not that that's saying much) and a bit better than the QBs that came right after him (Boller and Wright).

Jameeeeeel. Loved this guy. We used to just pull UDFA MLB's like they grew on trees.

The question is, who is going to get to post Ray Lewis tomorrow?

I'm sure we can find another player for 52 days right?

I would consider posting someone else, but there literally is no other 52 in Ravens' history.

I'm aware lol sorry not enough sarcasm I guess.

A little weird to think though that 20 years from now when this thread is opened for that new season 52 days will still be Ray Lewis.

How is that weird?  The man was only the face of the franchise for 17 years and has a huge statue of his likeness in front of the stadium.  Lol!

I am totally fine with that.

yeah I don't think there is even an IF on this.  Officially, or unofficially, there will never be a #52 on that field.

Agreed!  And neither should there be imo....

#52 should be retired by entire league.

Will never happen. Outside of Baltimore he's one of the most hated figures.

That wasn't 100% serious statement.

Here we go.

52 Ray Lewis days until kick off.

BenRoethlisbergerRayLewisAFCChampionship

This is one of my favorite pictures of him.

I have an autographed copy hanging on my living room wall. Meeting him is one of the most memorable moments of my life.

Ray needs no introduction around here. He is a god to many. ( note lower case g ) he may not be your favorite   but it can not be argued.  He is one of the greatest to ever be on this team.

Not weird in a bad way just kind of like crazy to think how blessed we've been to have this transcendent talent on the field for us for such a long time.

Pepper Johnson was #52 with the Browns in 1995. He was drafted by the Giants in '86 and played for Parcells/Belichick. When Belichick left for the Browns, Pepper Johnson follow him and played there for 3 years.

When the Browns moved to Baltimore for the '96 season, Belichick left and so did Johnson (went to the Lions). If not for Belichick leaving, Pepper Johnson likely wouldnt have left either - and Ray Lewis probably wouldnt have gotten his #52 (at least right away); and we would probably have another #52 in our history.

A simple twist of fate -- glad it happened (Ray being our only #52 that is.... but as much as i hate Belichick since hes the Pats coach, CAN YOU IMAGINE the Ravens with Ozzie as GM and Belichick as HC since '96??? Him as coach with Ozzies constructed D of the early 2000's.. my gosh. Not to mention all the other possibilities, like Brady being a Raven) As crazy as that is to think about - im just fine with the way it turned out. Hes probably more fun to hate.

If we are gonna have one of Ben, we might as well have one with Tom too.

52 Ray days...

Had to post this one. Its a mind blower. Looked like Ray hitting McAlister while wearing Browns pants.

Thought it was photoshopped at first, but then saw the Browns helmet and realized that this actually happened.

51 Brendon Ayanbadejo days until kickoff....

121223_Giants-at-Ravens_0807.jpg

A leader and Special Teams ace for years. Part II of the first bother pair to play for and win separate SB's with the Baltimore Ravens (need to check, maybe a first in the entire NFL). Would at times fill in on D when needed and contribute, but really made his living on special teams.

Outspoken political activists when it comes to Human Rights, particularly the rights for gay marriage... to the point where he refused to visit the White House after winning the SB since Obama didnt support a Bill that would grant gay couples to marry as federal law (at least i think thats what it was). But, unlike some other recently retired Raven, he never let his activism and off field passions get in the way of what he did on the field.

Didnt bring the outside stuff to the locker room or practice field. Just showed up and did his job, and did it well. And, took a pretty brave stance sticking up for the rights of gay couples in a relatively unfriendly environment... but didnt catch flack for it bc he earned the respect of his fellow team mates first.

We've been missing a guy like him imo... that ST Ace to lead the unit. Trawick was on his way, but hes gone now. Juice might be that kind of guy, we'll see.
