[News] Late For Work 5/30: John Harbaugh Snubbed In NFL Coaches Ranking? Joe Flacco Trending Friday

49 posts in this topic

Shouldn’t Harbaugh rank in the top five, at least? Wonderful Flacco flashbacks as we await his return. Can Campanaro stay healthy enough to make team? So far, so good for Webb’s transition. Perriman’s father improving. Not a bad day for Reynolds.

What a surprise. John snubbed I am shocked. Mike Zimmer has not won a thing
as a HC. So, they snub John they snub Joe they snub the Ravens nothing new
here. Turn out the lights ( oh they already tried that ). Most people who write
these articles would not know a football from a donut.

If we think Harbaugh was "snubbed" because he's listed at #7 after an 5-11 season, how should the Broncos-fans feel about Kubiak not even making the list after helping their team go all the way - especially when there's Sean Payton there, who had about one good season the past decade?

Camp is so good when he is on the field that it becomes extremely difficult to let him go. The play where he took an end around down by the endzone, I think it was a Steelers game where he was pinned and most receivers would roll over and take the loss but he jukes the first guy who had him 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage and hurdles the remaining two guys to get into the endzone. Kid can flat make plays. Yes, if he keeps this up he is out, it will be painful to give up on him and watch him shine somewhere else. Harbaugh may be getting dissed recently, but Flacco is getting more and more national love as Manning retires and the pundits look at the remaining QB talent pool and are starting to realize Flacco is better than advertised. Thing is, when you are a running team, you run, not pass. In addition, teams who are leading a game typically run to burn up the clock. The fact Flacco doesn't have a 4000 yard season has nothing to do with Flacco but with the system and the Ravens ongoing success. He doesn't throw for 4000 because he doesn't have to. Stafford has to, Brady has to, Rivers has to. I will add this caveat though, Flacco won't have 4000 yards this year either, he will have 5000. With a Trestman system going into the second year and the beat posse of weapons (WR, TE AND RB) he has ever had or the Ravens have ever had, he will finally get to the elusive 4000 yard mark plus, and will finally start getting the recognition he has so long deserved.

Odd how Harbaugh doesn't indicate a conditioning issue with Campanero. Obviously the training staff doesn't have him in the right conditioning program (were they to know what one was).

I think his ranking is about right,
I see harb coaching as RAY and ED left,
we have been up and down, good yr, bad yr
we really have a good team, once the coaches put players in position
find our identity us against them
we are fine.

"I've just never seen a guy work as hard as this guy has worked in the last year and a half," Harbaugh said. "There will be a time when he gets past this stuff. This stuff will stop happening, and hopefully it's training camp. We're still expecting really good things from him."

Harbaugh on Camp.

Good news about Perriman's pop. I am happy to hear the Webb transition is going well. Campanaro has got to stay healthy for even a sliver of a chance on making the team with the WR position being so full...

The "turn out the lights" comment was pretty funny lol

On another note, I don't see Campanaro making the team. Too bad, so much potential and a MD guy to boot.

If they're going by what they've done lately then I get why John is ranked where he is to an extent, but if thats the case then sean payton has no business being in the top 10 let alone the top 5.

I don't no why Mike Zimmer and even Sean Payton is ahead of John Harbaugh because l believe he better than both of coaches and should be atleast at number 4. I'm very happy that John Harbaugh as our coach but one thing l want to see John approved as a coach is the lack of decisions; when to challenge a play, when to go for it on 4th down, when to call a timeout because last year some of his decisions were just a head scratcher sometimes and it cost us costly. John needs to make better decisions when the time is right during games or even what's best for the team. ?

5000 yards that's bold LOL ?. I don't know about that. I always thought that Joe will surpass 4000 ever year but he never has so l won't get my hopes up. I just to win ball games not stats that's the most important but l do hope this is the year like always he could surpass 4000. ?

Harbaugh is about right @7. He should get a pass for last year, but he has to show more than what he has since Ray and Ed retired. I personally would put, Andy Reid and Mike McCarthy over John. Mike Tomlin, Mike Zimmer and Sean Payton should not be ranked as high. A case could be made for Ron Rivera also.

On that same point then, Billichick needs to show more without Brady. It really could be Billichick is not as good as everyone thinks and was riding Brady's coat tail.

In reality, its a moot point and a flimsy argument. Additionally, Ray and Ed were not in the prime of their careers when they won the SB either. You judge a coach on their entire body of work and do not discredit them for having great players, as great players alone do not guarantee success.

Not necessarily. Sometimes, it's just a matter of genetics. Camp had injury issues in college as well, which is why he lasted until the 7th round.

Tomlin should not be ranked that high. The Steelers have 1 playoff win in the last 5 years, and it was against the Bengals, so that barely even counts. When you have a franchise qb and the talent they have, and all you have to show for it in the last half decade is one Wild Card Round win, you should not be in the top 6.

John Harbaugh should try striving to win the division instead of finishing in third place and barely making it in the playoffs, if anyone thinks he should be rated higher. I hope we can manage to beat the Bengals this year, just saying!!

These coach rankings are so - "what have you done for me lately". A 5-11 season is going to drop you, no matter the circumstances. But having a guy like Zimmer in the top 5 says it all. A guy with 18 career NFL wins as a HC is #4? OK. Get back to me in 5 years.

Oddly we have not heard much about Stanley this preseason. The only thing that I have heard so far is that his footwork is great but he's being tossed around like a toy by the D linemen. The source is credentialed but a real jerk I normally go out of my ways not to read, so I don't know what to make of it other than the conspicuous lack of other mentions.

I give Carroll credit for building a strong team and installing a system to turn the Seahawks franchise around. To win consistently you also need a good QB and a GM to put pieces to make team successful. Belicheck and Carroll I think are both GM/coaches so the top 2 is legit. I don't think Harbs strengths are game strategy, Xs and Os, handling the media, winning the division, in-game adjustments, and time management so I will not debate his position.

If the Ravens and Harbaugh ever parted ways it would take all of 5 minutes before he was a head coach elsewhere.

Reynolds will make the team because Camp likely will be injured again at some point. Hate to see a guy not make it because of that but that's been his history in college and so far in the NFL.

I really don't like Tomlin that high - the Steelers were a very, very successful team in the years leading up to Tomlin replacing Cowher - from 2000-2005, they had 4 double-digit win seasons and won a Superbowl. In the 6 years prior to Harbaugh replacing Billick (2002-2007), the Ravens had 2 double digit win seasons, 3 losing seasons, and lost both of their playoff games. Tomlin has had a lot of success, but the Steelers as a franchise have been a very competitive team almost every year since Cowher took over in the early 90s. IMO easier to sustain success than it is to build consistency after what we had here in Baltimore during our first 10 years as a franchise.

Jim Zorn was once rated the the 2nd best coach in football.  They rated him after 8 games coaching the skins.  Need I say more...

Harbs is #2, it's hard not to give Belichick the #1 nod with 4 SB rings (as much as I would like not to). I could accept a tie with Tomlin at #2, but Zimmerman and Arains over Harbs? Based on what? Get real USA Today!

Just more USA Today disrespect they always give the Ravens.USA Today is best when in the trash, or catching stuff at the bottom of a Ravens cage, in my opinion. GO RAVENS! 25

What's going to suck is watching Camp turn into the next Wes Welker after we cut him and the Patsies pick him up !
