[News] Eisenberg: One Big-Picture Theme Consistently Stands Out For Ravens

Hey since we are going to lose a week of OTAs why not just take the NFL to
court ala Tom Brady. That way we would not have to give up that week until
2022

Imo, OLD and SLOW has got to go. At 5-11 last year, with a SB in 2012, it is time to build the future long term. Webby, Forsett, even Doom may have to go. Growing pains call it, and yeah I love these guys too, but we need to get quality snaps to the next generation of 53 mighty men, to whom the future will depend upon. I am a bit disappointed that Arthur Brown did not get more snaps last year, knowing that the ilb spot next to CJ would open up the following season, a squandered opportunity in a losing year. That being said, I am excited to see this years squad suit up.

Lots of talent that may end up else where. I hope Waller, Campanaro and Talliferro can make the squad. I would hate to see any of them in another uniform.

I thought we had a talented roster coming in last season. But injuries killed us, hence the 5-11 season. But coming in this season we have more competition to add with what we already had last season which makes it more interesting! Sad part like someone stated is that we will lose some talented guys, that will end up in other organizations and will probably do good if healthy. Bottom line, it's great to have this type of competition with in our team for roster spots. May the best guys prevail so we can be a better team!

Funny, cut Doom after the Ravens tried their best to acquire pass rushers? This is an ill-advised move, as Doom was one of the few consisten pass rushers last season, playing more snaps and getting more attention. Bad idea.

I will admit, Webby and Forsett are more realistic depending on how things shake out. Webb's biggest upside is he can play corner and safety if needed. He is making a lot for a corner gone safety and we'll need to see where he fits with the other safeties. with Forsett, I'm expecting his experience and determination help to win the starting position again, as most people are at this point. The key will be how good the depth is. If players like Allen and Dixon can show well, that could force Forsett out. I see Allen making it happen for sure and Dixon looks to have the ability but will need to really grasp things quickly. Cannot see more than 3 RB's making the squad.

Third running back position will be very interesting. Between Taliaferro, West and Richardson. It would be awesome if Richardson showed up again in Heisman form.

At this moment, My guess would be that ,Forsett, West, Richardson will be out at RB, Campanero, out at WR, and Elam gone at safety

There is a lot of unproven talent on the roster so stating this team is deep is premature. If you watched Elam's and A Brown college tape you would not believe they would be as ineffective as they have been to this point. Rookies have to prove themselves, vets on a new team or new position have to prove themselves. All I hope for is that the roster remains reasonably healthy so that injuries are not deciding whose on the final 53 roster.

I would love to hear more details regarding the stupid 5 minute padded punting drill decision. Whose idea was that? Harbs? If so, how could he not know the rules? Wasn't there somebody around to say "hey, John, I don't think we can do that".The Ravens need a QC guy or a compliance guy to keep the coaches from stepping in doo doo.

We will have to stretch the field and put more pressure on the opposing QBs just to make it to 9 and 7.  If not, then there will be another .500 or less looming in our future.

It was a very costly mistake.

I predict that Forsett will the number one RB.  Elam will be kept for depth regardless of performance because the Ravens hate to release high draft picks until they hit the free agency market.

Wallace and perriman can stretch the field and I think will do well against opposing QBs as well as better with getting picks (but would hard to get worse than last year)

I think it's dumb to penalize a team that heavily over wearing pads for 5 minute, but just pay the fines and get in as much work as possible with the OTA days you have and move on... lesson learned, it's not that big of a deal.

Absolutely don't know the final take but let's hope they make the coaches think long and hard before cutting anyone loose. Reynolds is an intriguing option because he can possibly help out in myriad positions. If he does perform them well he'll stick.

Gotta give Terrance brooks a shot!

FS 32 WEDDLE, ERIC U/SD 23 Lewis, Kendrick U/Hou 31 Brooks, Terrence 14/3 41 Levine, Anthony SF12

Unfortunately for Brooks, he has a rough road ahead of him with the signing of Eric Weddle. I don't see Anthony Levine making the team this year.  (source: http://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/BAL).

There is a thread here that started just after the draft had been completed and I made a go of what I thought the final roster might look like and even included my thought process on it before some of the UDFA's were signed and Powers was added to the 90 man roster.

http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/topic/68401-my-current-guess-at-the-ravens-53-man-roster-merged/?page=1

I definitely intend to do a before and after thing to see just how close I was. It is more for my own curiosity rather than to say, "In your face I was right!" I just really wonder how close my thinking is to the front office and to see if my prediction for Dennis Pitta is right. So far he is showing signs that I will be wrong. But, if everything was so predictable life wouldn't be so fun, right?

Richardson isn't going to make the team. Let's not kid ourselves. Not every college stand out makes it in the NFL. He wasn't very good during his rookie season with the Browns - I mean that's fresh out of Alabama. He has never shown vision and elusiveness. Terrence West is also gone. There's a reason he's on his third team going into his third year as a pro.

I see Forsette, Allen, and Dixon. Talliafero is the only intrigue at RB.

The competition at safety is far more intriguing. Weddle is the only settled player. I know the organization is very pleased with Webb's ability to blitz from the line, or show blitz but drop in coverage. He is also a great tackler. So he is the most likely to start with Weddle. Lewis struggled mightily last year despite his reputation as a field general. Which makes one wonder if the problem is system or coaching or player. After all Darian Stewart became a top safety with Denver just one year after struggling in our backfield. And we have had a carrousel in our backfield since the Super Bowl. Enter Coach Leslie Frazier. So I see Lewis staying on to back up Weddle. So we have a competition between Brooks and Elam - 2 high draft pics. Brooks is more formidable as a pro. Hits with bad intention. A Raven-type player at the pro level more so than Elam has shown. They're both struggling in coverage. I see Brooks as the 4th safety to back up Webb in the SS position. Elam is probably going to be traded or cut.

I could easily see Brooks drop down as a rover back/LBer in some exotic packages, if Dean will take the leash off the defense, and let them do what they are capable of doing, and that is being a attacking defense, and not a defensive defense....Bring the noise, let the guys do what they are capable of doing....

stixfix69.... i agree, that we have went out and brought in some special athletes who we can deploy in ways that could be a nightmare for opposing offenses... (like brooks) but I think we both know that Pees will never take the handcuffs off... he is a bend but dont break guy and the idea of an attacking defense is foreign for Pees. I am really hoping that the presence of Leslie Frazier will help pees to get more out of our defense and trust our DBs a little more but when it comes to pees... i really dont have high hopes of anything more then the bend but dont break approach that causes us to lose more close games then any team in the NFL

S... will be Weddle and Webb as the starters and Elam and Brooks as the back ups- KLewis will be gone unless we have plans to use Webb as a S / CB and then we may keep five.

TE.. I really think we keep Watson, Gilmore and Maxx ( I think Pitta will retire before then end of camp) and Waller is the wild card. (I could see us keeping him but I think he ends up on the PS)

RB... I feel like Forsett, Dixion and Buck are in.... I think Richardson could be the wild card.... He could be the surprise.... (but I dont like how this has started it out for him). I think LT is the most intriguing situation bc his talent is clearly there but just not sure where he is in the mix.. I think west is gone Dixion can be everything we would want from West and more

WR... obviously SSS, Perriman, Wallace and Chris Moore are locks... Probably even Kamar... (It will be a choice between Camp and Renyolds - they are the same type of skill set and I am leaning towards Renyolds... even though he is raw.... camp cant stay on the field). Jeremy Butler is interesting also...but he Kaelin Clay, Chris Matthews and Daniel Brown) are all talented but I think if we let any of them go... they will be a back up WR with someone else. (I do think at least Daniel Brown goes to the PS)

I think the real camp battle in on the DL and OL- Does Monroe stay and if so... does that move Stanley to G or is Monroe simply a back up??? If Stanley moves to G what does that mean for Urschel and Jensen (Urschel is ready to start). If Monroe is gone... Does Alex Lewis compete for G or does his presence mean that Hurst is gone? Can Zuttah return healthy or will Jensen take his spot. Will Wagner finally be healthy or will Stanley or Alex Lewis play there?

DL... Who starts LGuy or Kafusi? Guy was very solid and a pleasant surprise last year. Kafusi has the talent and is the high draft pick.. the future. Who steps up Carl Davis (who showed a ton of promise last year) or Willie Henry? Can Urban stay healthy enough to fullfill his potential? Can KLM stay healthy enough to live up to his? Will Timmy Jernigan take the next step to become an NFL probowler? Can Brandon Williams become the best interior DL in the NFL? (do we work out a contract extension or new contract with him)

OL and DL may not have the numbers that that S, RB, WR and TE have but i think the real camp battle will be in the trenches this season!
