Redskins Fans Haten!

31 posts in this topic

Well, I visited the Redskins Forum a few minutes ago just to see what they were thinkin about these last two games. I'm already aware of the fact that the Ravens/Skins Fans don't really show much support for one another. But, going into their forum, i really didn't expect them to show such disgust for us or our team. First of all, they just can't stand the Ravens as a team (Period)!!!! Other than that, they mentioned quite often how they feel about our black&purple uniforms/colors. They Believe they are hideous, ugly, and how we could'nt think of anything better than a Raven as our mascot or Logo. They also laughed at the names (Poe) and Captain Defense. One of those geeks stated that we as a city are tryin to claim (Edgar Allen Poe) as a Baltimore Artist, and it's lame to name a bird after him. So, i'm wondering, where did this hatred come from? Are they sooooo bored in the Off-season to the point that they have to pick a fight with a team who's clearly the Local success story? Are they self-concious of the fact that their team has sucked for years at a time? Have they realized, in the back of their minds that the native-american Logo really sucks. Heres a historical low-blow, they chose to steal from the Native American, the only way to give a refund is to put his face on a helmet. Now, tell me, Who has the Lame Logo??????

Clearly they are upset that the other local team is once again going to the superbowl while they sit and watch it from home. I hope all the malls and stores in the border counties like Howard and Frederick have Ravens stuff all over the place just to rub it in a little more.

They had there day back in the 80's and they'll never have it again. I work at a bar in downtown Baltimore and of course there are some redskin fans here. The night be beat there butts on national TV was great. After that game, I havent seen any of em!

Seriously, does it really matter what fans of teams not playing in a game this weekend think about any of the teams playing this weekend. Really, who cares? We've got a date with Pitt, for a chance to play in the Superbowl. The Redskins have a date with their TV watching us get a chance to play for a spot in the Superbowl. Haters job is to hate. And if they are hating your doing something right. We need to make sure we have 31 other fanbases hating on us come Feb. 1.

The games have been hyped as "The Battle of the Beltway". Going into the game this season we had tied records, and a lot of Skins fans switched to the Ravens when pro-football returned to Maryland. Its territorial, jealousy, and a good old fashioned "cross town" rivalry.

Also Joe Flacco didn't help the situation.

The Skins year in and year out are waiting for Jason Campbell to learn the system and adjust to the pros. Ask almost and Skins fan and until this year they stood by him, saying he needed more time, etc.

Flacco steps in as a rookie and takes the Ravens to the AFC Championship! Ouch!

I agree!! I think thats a huge reason why they are jealous. They have nuthin but alot of skins pride. Plus, they are holding on to the past. Thats all they have to cheer about. By the way, i wont think they're lame if they start cheering for the Ravens. To be honest, I don't hate or dislike the Skins unless they play us. I find myself cheering for them when they face other teams. But, to discover how much the amount of hatred they have for us, i don't think I will have an ounce of compassion for them against anyone.

Lots of Balto Colts fans moved to the Skins when Colts left town. I did not, held out for new team. Glad I did. Rivalry is known as the battle of the beltways.

I "was" a Redskins fan as a kid to piss my dad off, I loved the Colts too.
DC fans also think we as Baltimore fans are jealous of anything DC they was a HUGE rival of the Baltimore Colts too.

The the Mascot thing just added gasoline to the fire.

Whatever let them hate. All they feel about is our team will be a purple state soon(which it SHOULD be), because there own team is on the downfall. I am sure they have/will lose alot of there own fans if we win the Super Bowl, and will come on our wagon.

The sad thing is, I heard they have no waiting list anymore at FedEX...

Anyways GO RAVENS! We will make this the purple state soon!

Why, exactly? They're a failing franchise that holds itself in a high esteem...

Sorry, but this week I'm STUNNED by the number of threads we've had about fans of other team's views on us. A few points if I may, before I slink back to moderating and not commenting:

1) Message boards represent a tiny proportion of any given fan base. To base the opinion of three jerks who happen to support another team and dish out a few insults at the Ravens as representative of all that team's fans is ludicrous.
2) Why do we care what other team's fans think of us? We're in the AFC Championship Game! Isn't that what is worth talking about? You know, the second most important game in this franchise's history? Or is it just me?
3) Who cares what fans of teams such as the Titans and Redskins have to say anyway? They're yesterday's news and, last time I checked, are no longer participating in this NFL season.

Ah, I feel better now. Carry on.

who cares?

1/2 of DC is cowboys fans! hahaha.
i got fam in PG county and i always see cowboys flags and stickers on cars.

Ravens have the md flag in our logo....but PG county and some people in montgomery are so conditioned and influenced by DC when they are under the maryland flag. AND THEY NEED TO SHOW RAVENS GAMES IN THE PG & MONTGOMERY COUNTY!...it's maryland! not DC fools!
b-more and dc are only 30miles apart.......i bet u could go 30miles of philly and still catch eagles games and i know u can for the steelers.

skins have fans in virgnia...so it really shouldn't be a battle for maryland.

Because they can't pull the media card anymore. All season long, there were threads about ESPN disrespect this, and CBS snubbing that; now that we're in the AFC Championship game, and there is too much exposure of the team, people on this board feel the need to bring up what other fans think of us at any possible opportunity.

I live in MoCo, and I beg to differ. This is a suburb of DC, not Baltimore. To be honest, anything south of MoCo/DC, meaning Virginia, doesn't have any connection AT ALL to Baltimore. Make no mistake, this isn't an area where people travel to both Washington AND Baltimore, this is an affluent area where snobby DC folk live.

I'm pretty sure that kid is a Redskins fan anyways who has hopped on the bandwagon for a good ride.

No offense to him, but his AIM account has the Redskins in it, and he seems to have an abnormal amount of insight into that organization and not ours. Plus, what Ravens fan goes out of his way to defend the 'Skins?

I'm not really surprized at any of the hatred by the Skins. The fact of the matter is, in my travels outside of Maryland, I have found that almost anywhere I go, people will actually go out of their way to tell me how much they hate the Ravens and how much they suck, just because I am wearing a Ravens' hat. I understand that obviously there isn't a lot of Ravens fans out of the Maryland area, but come on. I wouldn't be surprized if we were one of the most hated on teams in the league.

ummm only along 270. bethesda, rockville, gaithersburgh, & germantown......MoCo is more than an affluent area if u been around the parts along 29.... ya know white oak, silver spring and the such. some parts of takoma park.

i find ravens fans in montgomery county tho.....it's the PG county folks that are hard pressed on the skins and cowboys.
moco can be a suburb of DC all it wants to....but we got the same govenor, same drivers license with the maryland crab, & same state troopers.
until yall get some DC tags....yall still got part of the ravens crest with you unless u got a truck or SUV and have an M instead of the crest.

for the simple fact that it is maryland ravens games should be shown on CBS instead of blacking em out or showing the steelers in the DC suburbs on the maryland side. skins come on fox....ravens come on cbs. Even the steel city shows eagles games on fox....DC suburbs is being haters.

30miles apart and we get the same radio stations...having 2 major cities close by is crazy. funny how culture can be different in that short distance and outsider don't realize it. 30miles from most places is the same thang.

So New York Jets games should be shown in Buffalo, NY? Many people in MoCo/PG feel no connection to Baltimore as their lives center around Washington, and nothing else.

Believe me, I'm with you, I wish they'd show the Ravens games in MoCo instead of paid programming, but that's just the way things work. Although there are some Baltimore fans, the DC supporters heavily outnumber us, and they'd **** and moan should we ever run over into their time slot. In fact, I believe there were hundreds of complaints sent in to the Post in advance when the Ravens/Texans game was on FOX right before a Skins contest.

If the Ravens win another one this year, then I could definitely see Baltimore making some ground in Montgomery County. If Baltimore is somehow able to get games on in the metro DC area, then I believe the market would be blown open as casual Skins fans would be more than willing to jump off of that sinking ship. As much as I hate to admit it, the Ravens base only exploded after 2001 when we won the championship, and I could see the Ravens definitely making some ground in the shore, MoCo, and other parts of southern Maryland.

The Skins are to football as the O's are to baseball in this area. Both have gone through some pretty rough times for the past decade+, and their once huge bases may be somewhat declining. The Skins are in more of a predicament as they've lost most of Carolina to the Panthers, Baltimore to the Ravens, and the mixed areas (The shore/western MD) are going to Philly, Carolina, Pittsburgh, or Baltimore. The O's, on the other hand, have been abysmal, but the Nationals don't really pose a threat, and Baltimore still has fans in parts of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Both the Redskins and Orioles have dormant fan bases that I can pretty much guarantee would wake up should either start to consistently contend again.

bufflao and jets are both afc! of course u can't do that!
nfc & afc come on to diff channels tho.....

orioles fanbase bleeds all through DC and u can see the game in the area tho along with the nationals.....they split tv time!

yall get MASN in the DC burbs which is all about the ravens! comcast sports talks about the ravens 1/2 the time!
yall get the highlight and talk...but not the game! if yall not gonna show the game....why show the highlights and ravens related shows?

yall don't get the game....but turn on MASN after a ravens game and u get the post interviews! haha....how backwards is that?

this is the most i will probably agree with anyone. I thought I was the only one who felt that way. That whole license plate deal, and the Fact that we live 30miles apart and they seperate everything, does indicate that theres alot of haten involved. im a truck driver and im always in dc and MoCo. theres little or nothing when it comes to supporting the Ravens or B-more (Period). I agree, get some dc tags and put ya stadium in DC where it belongs. These people are fuuunnnnnnny!!
