The petty argument that you started? I'd be tired of it too if I were you.

Still waiting on that solution...

anyway, my point is i had a high 3rd round low 2nd round grade on Victor Ochi and I hope he's given a real chance to be a star here. He's the steal of the draft and i hope his UDFA status doesnt subject him to an unfair cut

the solution is a mindset. It's..''we dont give a you know what if you're the 2nd round pick, you flat out suck and this guy is better than you ( even if he does suck too) so goodbye''.

So wait...

The point of the thread that YOU started entitled "Matt Elam and Arthur Brown - pride getting in the way?" is that you gave a good grade to Victor Ochi?

Wow, just wow.

32 NFL teams gave draft grades on him as well. Guess who's opinion I and everybody else will be trusting more? I'll give you a hint...

That's not a solution, considering the "this guy" reference isn't a reference to an actual person. I'm asking you to name that person, and consistently you have failed to do so (shocking!).

Watch what? A UDFA become a good football player? O, how shocking. Biggest cop out fans have... "just wait". What that really translates to... "I'm going to make this claim now, and nobody will call me out for it years from now when it doesn't happen, because they will have forgotten about it. Then, I'll come back and say see I told you so". Weak. Very, very, weak.

Everybody tells everybody everything after they see the future. That's nothing special.

Whenever you actually start providing solutions to obvious problems, come back and see me. MAYBE then, and only then, will people start taking your judgments seriously.

I've backed up my statements. Are you upset that I've been right most of the time? You'll remember this...just watch..

I said Za'Darius Smith and Maxx Williams were our two best picks last year (go read my draft review). You can take that to the bank too.

Watch Ochi this pre-season. He'll be the best rusher in the pre season. If the ravens have any you know whats, they'll reward him..i just fear that they will fold and go with lesser talents.

Just like Matt Furstenburg and DeAndre Carter?  I like Ochi but let's pump the breaks a bit.  How many UDFAs are touted up every year to go and do very little with their careers?  A large majority.  Why don't we, I don't know, actually let him get on the field and prove it before we anoint him the next savior?

Maybe you end up being right about him, but we're in May.  It's far too early to be saying the this player should be given a chance while another shouldn't.

And I think my favorite thing about this thread is that we actually did take a UDFA over a vet just a couple of years ago... James Hurst over Jah Reid.  Hurst was considered the prized UDFA and despite an awful camp and preseason, he made the team because of his potential.  Jah Reid, who had looked like a bust to that point, was actually playing some decent football at his more natural RT position.  Was that the right decision in hindsight?  Probably not.  It shows that we will take the potential of a UDFA if we like them enough, though.

It's not even like Matt Elam and Arthur Brown took roster spots from anyone last year.  Elam spent the year on IR, while Arthur Brown didn't take a spot because there were no other viable roster candidates.

out of all the UDFA's in the past 4 years, ochi excites me the most. I really see him as the best UDFA talent we have taken in a long long time.

Not saying you did, but how many UDFAs get put on a pedestal every year to amount to pretty much nothing in NFL terms?  Tons.  Just because you think Ochi is a star doesn't mean that he actually is.

Wow, you really went out on a limb there didn't you?

Gotta love when people make predictions but never hold themselves accountable for being wrong. Ain't it great being a fanboard guy with no accountability and responsibility?

Too bad the real world ain't like that.

Still waiting on that solution...

And my final point before I bow out...

It's ridiculous to make the claim that 2 guys that haven't earned their roster spots should be gone to make way for a UDFA that hasn't earned his spot yet either.  Maybe Ochi does go bonkers and gets a spot.  Right now though, he's nothing more than another guy trying to prove he belongs.  This is nothing more than a thread to pump up a guy you like and put down 2 you don't.

Personally I don't think either of them will make a significant impact in the NFL, but at the same time I don't think it's the FO's pride keeping those two here. They're cheap, they learned the system to some degree at least, and as long as they're not taking up a roster spot that could be used on someone better (which I don't think has really happened at the ILB or SS positions in recent years), they may as well stay. I get that some UDFA will be stars one day, but most of them aren't, and I don't feel all that bad about Brown or Elam being on the team instead.

whats wrong?

They were so proud that they thought ochi was going to be the first ever stony Brook player to be drafted.

Obviously, he went undrafted

Not everybody's opinion is created equal...

I don't trust eyes. They lie to you (especially when you don't know what you're looking at). Most people  have done "pretty well" when they only look at the predictions that came true and exclude the one's that didn't.

also..i stated in 2013 we wouldnt make the playoffs. Correct

I said in 2014 with kubiak we would..correct

I said last year we wouldnt make it..Correct

sometimes you gotta give credit where credit is due.

For the record, we will make the playoffs this year.

I'd say i've got around 75% of it right. I pleaded for Ty Mathieu in the 2013 draft..it wouldnt have been a popular choice but i said he was a baller.
