What is the hardest thing to do in football?

21 posts in this topic

I say playing defense is somewhat hard to do. like keeping up with speedy receivers and backs. Like some receivers have quick moves that can out fake you to defend as well he's got good hands to catch the ball. just like the quickness the juke moves the running backs have make it tough to stop getting first downs. Even Quarterbacks can run even set fake snaps to make you move too soon to jump offsides. So playing defense is the toughest job playing football

It might be easier to say what the easiest thing to do in football is. Everything else is very hard in its own way.

The easiest thing to do is the guy who holds the football on kickoffs on windy days.

Probably man to man coverage with no help. You have to figure out what the WR is even trying to do and then keep pace with them without too much physical contact to warrant a flag. And a perfect throw can still beat you.

Yes Andrew you cant put your hands on WRs try to disrupt him while the play is happening thats when you get called for defensive holding.

I would say skill wise it's hardest for a QB to hit a cutting receiver in stride.  Physically, I would guess it would be playing inside on the O or D line.

Kicking

Guessing you were being sarcastic, but kicking a FG in a pressure situation probably is the toughest task mentally.

Being a DB is the first thing to come to mind. You have to have great awareness and react to what the receiver and QB is doing without doing anything to draw a flag. Offensive linemen also have it really tough since they rely on reading and reacting to what the front 7 does. Finally, being a kicker when the game is on the line. One play can make you a hero or get you booed out of the building.

Being a MLB in a zone coverage is also difficult. You're assignment is constantly changing

Think the same. If the front gets no pressure on the qb then as a db you're spending lots of time playing chase with a wr.

I say that with the likes of seattles "playground" offense in mind. If the front doesn't get to Wilson DBs are forced to cover playground routes that on the surface look like they lack true discipline. A wr being able to improv is a threat to some of the best man cover DBs

Adding to this, one on one coverage in the slot especially. So much field to cover and you don't have the luxury of the sideline.

Defending the receiver. You cant put your hands on him until ball gets there. Its the rules.
