Again, no way should he wear 19. And, please don't put the md logo on the new field, Raven bird head.

Agree. Raven logo at midfield. MD logo in one corner of each endzone along with Baltimore Ravens "B" in the other corners.

He definitely SHOULD be able to wear 19. Especially because the Unities Family gave their grace for him to wear it. I mean come on, it's a damn number. The only Numbers that shouldn't be worn is 52,20,& 75.

Thanks. I just realized that when reading late for work.....i'm 50/50 with it.....it should be a retired number although i understand it was in a colts uniform. for that i would leave it up to the family and it looks like they already granted him permission

Doesnt make a difference to me, but like you said its a Colts number.  Really shouldnt matter here in Baltimore even though it was the Baltimore Colts.  But either way....it makes no difference to me.

Well, hopefully he can cope with the rigors of both assignments. Not easy, but Keenan may be able to accomplish both with aplomb. First however, he needs to focus his energy on making the team and leave no doubt in the minds of the people that drafted him. Second, times have certainly changed for the better. I don't think there will be an expectation for him to work 9 hours a day throughout the year to fulfill his Navy obligation but I may be wrong. Let's hope not for Keenan's sake. If he does make the team against all odds and thrives, we'll all be so very proud.

I agree with ellicottraven, as retired military and I have a son in an academy. I understand the Secretaries thoughts on using these guys as role models Recruiting tools representing the military & all it stands for. There are many military personnel representing sports in all levels of competition. They are represented in NFL, MMA, US Olympics, and other Institutions. So this is far from unique but challenging because they have to work much harder than the average athlete while fulfilling their commitment to the military as well as training for their sports. As far as haters all I've got to say; Jealousy!!!!!

The key here that needs to be identified and paid attention to is not the approval he received, but the fact he received it from the Secretary of the Navy who was appointed by a lame duck president. Which means as soon as we elect another president, even if it is a Democrat, there is no guarantee the new president won't select a different Secretary of the Navy. As the article clearly states, many in the military, including candidates for the Secretary of the Navy position, do not agree that athletes should be given exceptions. So, absolutely, Reynolds stay in the NFL could be anywhere from a couple months, to a year, or even two years. But at anytime things could change.

I'm another fan who wants the Raven bird head at mid-field and not the State of Maryland logo. The state logo, especially as large as it is, makes it hard to see the players on TV. After all the whole point of watching a football game is to see the players perform, not an advertisement for the state.

Show some respect for Baltimore's NFL heritage. Number 19 isn't just about the Ravens. It is about Baltimore, first and foremost. Yes, it was a Colts number, but it was a BALTIMORE Colts number, worn by the greatest football player to ever wear a Baltimore uniform. Keenan Reynolds is a nice young man. But he isn't John Unitas. The majority of Ravens fans today were not alive when Unitas played. Too bad you missed it.

Another "no brainer" award winner.

CAUTION: If you play football you could get hurt, or worse have a career ending injury at any given moment.

You could tell this "Cautionary Tale" to every single would be NFL player, or even the little tikes in the Pop Warner leagues. Injuries are part of the game. It is really extremely unfortunate when horrible injuries occur and I never wish them on anyone regardless if I loathe the other team. Players are human beings and I don't want anything bad to happen to anyone.

"I mean come on, It's a damn number" &  don't wear these numbers 52, 20 & 75.  Kind of hypocritical don't you think?

Good post however that person will also want the advertising. Just think about it. If he makes plays they make commercials advertising the bridge between HIM and THEM Coaching with good american athletes that are among the best in life.
