Ravens being investigated for putting players in full pads

Well, in theory, if you're not having contact drills, there's no real purpose in wearing pads.

Which is why I think the whole situation is stupid. The report says the Ravens were wearing pads in non-contact drills... I don't see this as an issue as long as there is no contact.

And don't you think that coaches and/or players might have a hard time not doing contact drills when they are padded up?

Have you really ever seen a team in full pads do strictly non-contact drills?

If a rule is set in place for non-contact OTA's I don't see an issue with pads.

I guess there isn't one. There also isn't any point or gain with pads in non-contact OTAs either. Hence, you put a rule in place saying don't bother doing either.

Playing in shorts and pads is completely different. That is why you practice in pads.

But that's not what OTAs are for. Pads exist to help protect players from injuries from contact. If contact isn't allowed, then the only thing pads do is slow you down, which is counter productive for OTAs.

OTAs aren't designed for players to learn how to practice in pads... they already know this, and it doesn't accomplish anything. Playing in shorts is really all you care about at this point...  you care more about the mental approach of the game and the conditioning levels of the players,

What is stupid is the Ravens coaches not following such a basic rule. All the other teams managed to follow the rule.

Was it Ben Watson that blew the horn on his new team?

Get this guy off our squad!

It's probably real awkward in the locker room about now.  Bye Ben!

I never liked you coming here anyway.  I hope Crockett is ready for training camp!

Come on Harbs, You are suppose to know the rules.  You complain about them every other week.  I'm so tired of this coach.

Wouldn't it make more sense to get rid of the coach than the Union Rep?  The coach should know the rules. If he can't follow something as basic as this do you trust him to run your team?

I have to agree with this.  I think the pads have an impact on movement and conditioning.  Putting the rookies in pads to see how they handle it COULD be valuable.

Well, this isn't the first time the Ravens have seen them in pads. They've got countless game film on the them and may have even watched their college games live.

Plus, this is what training camp is for.

Which is why he has tried to do this twice in his time here and been caught both times.

It's clearly an advantage of some sort otherwise he wouldn't have done it..It's not deflating footballs, but it's still a breach on the rules and looks bad, especially for a second time

Bill Belichick still has a job, so yes.

Should we act like Pats fans?

It's somebody elses fault. The NFL hates us. Were were set up. No one knew that they had pads on. The weather made our jerseys puffy so it looked like we had pads on.

Yeah I feel dumb.

We made a mistake.  Own it.

We could get Uncle Roger upset and do what cousin Tom is doing appeal the it.

This is getting redundant. Yes Harbs can be a moron at times. But what is the big deal just putting on pads as long as there is no contact. Is it so bad for a coach to want to see how his players run and move around wearing pads?? And Harbs should of asked about it and explained the circumstances and purpose of the pads. And Goodell should not be looking to discipline at every opportunity he can find. Where was the discipline for Dockett harassing the wife of a player. He needs to focus on important issues in the league
