So they basically using Josh Johnson. LOL lts wasting his time he knows that he's not gonna make the 53 man roster. We already have a backup quarterback in Ryan Mallett.

They're not using Josh Johnson, he didn't have to sign w/ the Ravens.

A backup QB is only one bad injury away from being a starter.  We quickly learned that last year.

And how quickly we forget how Joe got his starting position. He was the 3rd string QB going into TC his rookie year.  Boller hurt his shoulder, T. Smith had some crazy infection and Joe was thrust into the starting role never to look back.

I had forgotten about Joe's origins on the Ravens. Thanks for the reminder.

Training camp is rough on the players.  So many receivers to evaluate and your starter has been nursing a knee injury.  You really need an extra QB for the practice squad, too.

Whatever scout recommended Sam Brown Needs a bonus check. I hope the first guy he hit is OK? That looked like a waterboy type hit.
See for yourself:

I know this is only college ball but still the kid looked good on this highlight tape. He certainly deserves a look-see on a CB challenged team like the Ravens.

Wonder why Ozzie is signing these players that has no chance of making the 53 man roster? LOL It a waste of time if you ask me.

It saves the arms of your starting QB and the legs of other starting vets.

That being said, Ducasse has a fighting chance to make the team if Stanley is moved to LT and Monroe is cut.

If Monroe is cut, the competition for LG is wide open! Plus I don't know if the FO is comfortable starting 2 rookies on the left side (Stanley and Alex).

So they basically using Josh Johnson. LOL lts wasting his time he knows that he's not gonna make the 53 man roster. We already have a backup quarterback in Ryan Mallett.

Well, he IS being paid, you know.

LOL. Maybe that's why he's here. ?

Well.... that is a clear sign that Monroe will be sent packing! Hes gone! Ducase adds depth at G...making room for Stanley to start on opening day!

IDK is the Ravens gonna keep 3 QB's? I just don't see it. Maybe they worried about Joe knee and he won't play at the beginning of the season that's they only way he makes the team. Maybe he goes to the practice squad.

The Ravens kept 3 QB's last year, just one was always on the practice squad. Chances are Josh Johnson doesn't make the final 63 (53 roster, 10 practice squad). They already have Jerrod Johnson who was our 3rd guy last season...well, probably 8th after all the injuries.

Because every team in the NFL has the ability to have a 90 man roster right now.

Josh Johnson was brought in to have 3 healthy camp arms to throw since Flacco isn't ready to go yet. You need SOMEBODY to throw to all the WR's you got.

And you're right, a lot of these guys won't make the 53 man roster or the 10 man practice squad, but by having them in camp and pushing for jobs they make the guys you finally keep better. You also never know what is going to happen with injuries so having a few extra bodies in camp never hurts.

Surprised we didn't take a look at Mettenberger, kid has a strong arm, and didn't play horribly in TN., he just played for horrible teams.....

Because he's probably gonna get #2 QB money from somebody and we aren't looking for a guy to make the roster. We've already got Joe as the starter and are paying Mallett to back up.

You mean 53 ?. Feel bad for Johnson because when the season starts he won't be a Raven unless Mallett get injured.

Here's some information about Sam Brown:

Scouting Pro Day: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=1007864&draftyear=2016&genpos=CB

Player Interview: http://www.nfldraftdiamonds.com/nfl-draft-diamonds-prospect-interview-sam-brown-cb-missouri-western-state-university/

6'1'' to 6'2'' and around 170-180lbs. Says he knows he would need to get a bit bigger in the NFL. Not exceptionally fast, but certainly not slow either. Might be good enough developmental player that gets on the PS.

I like this signing.

I think this is why he may be cut before the Regular season.

Shall lawson to have surgery... For preexisting condition. We had a lot of homers on him.

I admit i was high on him, but wasn't aware of the condition of his shoulder....Another reason why i trust the FO when it comes to drafting players, they do check medical records of all players they might have interest in, and that weighs in on who they draft, especially in the top 4 rounds,....JMO....

If the Ravens wanted to sign a QB, they should've waited if somebody gets hurts first then sign Johnson or whatever. But it seems that coming here with Ryan Mallett already here it gonna be tough for him to compete. He should've went somewhere else that he could compete for a backup spot because l don't think it's gonna happen here. That why l said it will probably waste Johnson time but it's possibly he could be a Raven in the practice squad.

I don't think too many teams were ringing his agent's phone off the hook.

Personally i think he signed knowing Flacco is out until at least training camp, so he has OTA's and mini camp to either have scouts look at him, or film he can send to teams.....Anytime a player gets on the field who is a long shot is just trying to get other teams scouts attention......JMO.....

You make sense.  Still it is funny to read in the article that he "hasn’t attempted a pass since 2011" and now he's going to try to practice up our receivers presumably by 'throwing' to them.  Oh, well, maybe it's like riding a bicycle - you never forget how.

That just means he hasn't had any NFL game time, doesn't mean he hasn't thrown a pass in 5 years.

It is an opportunity for him to get some action in, maybe learn a few things, establish a rapport with coaches so if anyone calls and asks, "What do you think of Josh Johnson," they might be able to say, "Bright guy, eager to learn, coachable..." etc. I don't know if he makes it through to pre season games but that should be his goal so that he can actually get some film in action to showcase. Doubt he gets anywhere other than on another team's practice squad or maybe he shows enough to beat out the J. Johnson we already have, meaning Jerrod.
