This years KR/PR

37 posts in this topic

While discussing this years roster with some friends, we became stumped on who our return man will be. I've heard Reynolds name brought up but don't know if that's based on his experience or just his pure athletic abilities.

As of right now, who will be competing as our return man/men?

If Steve Smith has his say he will.

Actually this is a question I haven't thought of. I remember reading Canady returned some punts and Reynolds seems like an option. To me the most important thing is to catch the ball and not turn it over rather than return yds. Its gonna be a wide open battle and my best guess is Campanaro is #1 on the depth chart as least as PR.

Edit. I forgot about Clay lol.

I don't want Sr. returning punts. Can't have another injury to our best WR on the team. I think Camp and Reynolds will excel at KR and PR. Webb might even be in mix also.

I was wondering if Chris Moore had any return (punt or kickoff ) skills  or potential? I didn't really hear it mentioned at all during the draft.

Clay?

He'll compete, but I do imagine it'll be tough for him since he's a pure returner. Doesn't offer much, if anything, at WR.

Plus the Harbs is all about versatility so you make a great point.

Yeah. Doesn't rule him out or anything, but the odds certainly aren't in his favor.

Reynolds and Camp!

Like camp but not able to stay healthy and unless he's stellar on returns may not make the 53

I feel the same way. Dudes gotta stay healthy or he's gone. I think we're done waiting for potential. Stay healthy and get out there and ball.

Yeah.

I really liked what I saw from him last year.  I  don't think there is going to be roster space for a pure return guy.

Does he have any skills good for the kicking team.

I think it's gotta be Reynolds. He could be an elite returner and that could very well be where all his value lies. I think the ravens would be foolish to not give him that job at the start of TC to see where he takes it.

Reynolds had fumbling issues in college which gives me some pause on him as the returner right now.

I wasn't aware of that. I haven't watched much of Reynolds honestly I just see his elusiveness and ridiculous acceleration and peg him as a returner right away.

32 fumbles in his 4 year career.  Now, he was pretty much the whole offense so his "touches" were a huge number, but it's still a lot.

That's a ton of fumbles.

And I'm sure it won't help when he has guys running at him full speed on punt returns.

Then we get him the ball to practice whenever we can

I think Keenan Reynolds. Don't see Clay making the team this year, just way too much talent at WR right now to justify keeping him as a ST'er.

It's an inflated number, Navy runs a triple option offense as you probably know, a bunch of those fumbles are from botched pitches/exchanges... not a matter of his ball security when getting hit really.

I personally like Clay and Reynolds I want Camp in the competition as well but Camp seems to be kinda fragile.

Don't see how Clay makes the team though. We were annihilated by injuries at WR last year, that's how he got on the active roster in the first place. This year we essentially have 3 new active roster WR's (Perriman, Wallace, Moore).

... although, Clay had one of the most famous college fumbles of all.

I think he learned a thing or two  ( or three or four ) about ball security that day.
