I think that while the odds of life on a planet are slim, that there are so many stars and planets out there that there has to be life somewhere

This is my premise.  I honestly think it takes someone pretty self absorbed to think we are the only ones here.  The movie Contact, Jodie Foster said it best at the end when a little kid asked her if she believed there was someone else out there and she said, paraphrasing: If so, seems like an awful waste of space.

Of course.  The odds are just too favorable.

The universe is ever expanding.  That means there are infinite numbers of stars (i.e. our sun).  We've only just begun to scratch the surface of our knowledge.  Our understanding of 'what's out there' is still restricted by our capabilities, as well as the vastness of time and space.  Hell, it wasn't very long ago where we were only capable of looking into the night sky and mapping out what we could see.

To take things a step further.  How do we know that our universe isn't a cellular breakdown of some larger existential being (life form)?  Think Horton Hears a Who.  Where perhaps the Big Bang was just the birth of something else.  Earth and our universe is relative to humans.  That doesn't mean it stops there.

Makes you feel sort of small.

The advancement in technology over just the last 75 years is insane and just goes to show you how much we don't know.  I found the stat that the Kepler only sees .25% of the sky, we cant even fathom that number and what it actually means.

Lots of stars /planets but I dunno cuz conditions to line up are very long and slim. I have thoughts on aliens that I touched on pretty loud in my book/play that I'm waiting for copyright to finally complete. It is a very unique take on aliens and that particular take has never been inked into a book or story b4.

Well lets hear it, obviously not the entirety but some cliffs would be nice.  Its always interesting to hear others takes

I mean, they wouldn't be aliens to me; just inhabitants of another planet.

However, with that said, yes, I can totally believe it. That doesn't mean they look anywhere remotely like us or even have plants/animals resembling anything we have, but it'd be naive to think that there aren't at least bacteria/archaea/viruses out there.

But that's so boring though. I want some little green men with huge eyes who are way more technologically advanced than us human beings lol

Yeah mathematically it's pretty much a certainty that other life exist. Unfortunately we probably won't know in our life times.

I'm not going to say whether I agree or disagree with the following just yet; this has just always been a fascinating topic to me and this thread isn't nearly as active as I was hoping it would be (astronomy and religious history have always been interests of mine, and when you put the two together....it really gets the mind wandering). Let's kick it off with some theories/beliefs that are "out there" when taken at face value, but have stout followers...

1. The Pyramids. No conversation about aliens is complete without mentioning not just the Pyramids in El Giza, but the pyramids built all around the world at roughly the same time. The obvious question is how were they made and who built them? Were ancient civilizations far more advanced than we realized? Some people think so. But others point out that we don't even have machines today that can lift those stones, and the amount of time and labor required would have been beyond reason. Another question surrounding the pyramids is why they all appeared around the world in the same time period -- on continents seperated by oceans and the inhabitants were not aware of the existence, much less activities, of the civilizations on those other continents. What triggered this worldwide phenomena? Again, some point to extraterrestrial intervention as the "trigger".

2. Area 51. We all know the theories about the place. We also know (for a fact, not a supposition by conspiracy nuts) that the gub'ment hasn't exactly been forthright or honest about it's existence or purpose. I probably don't have to say this, but most everything on youtube is fake/nonsense regarding it...but there are a lot of dubious and thought provoking activity there that is worth discussing.

3. Phoenix lights, 1997 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Lights  Google it, youtube it, if you are unfamiliar with it. There was a second event of this reported a few years ago; the general consensus is that the second event was likely airplanes lined up for landing. The first event (1997)...well, just read up on it for yourself. Very interesting, and downright frightening if it is what most who saw it thinks.

Don't forget about how strange it is that they line up the way they do

Why cant NASA build a bigger space craft? like over 20 astronauts who are scientist to explore mars. Plus we need warp speed to get there in a week
