2016 Draft a Franchise: Discussion Thread

Nuke was in my top three (probably my second) for the 2013 draft for who I wanted the Ravens to draft. I knew the Texans would take him, but damn, watching him tear it up last year just has me dying on the inside.

Our 2013 draft year was rough

We will revisit this later when someone inevitably takes the three good players from this draft

Yes we will. I agree with you there but IMO Ozzie whiffed in the earlier couple rounds that year. I think he committed the cardinal sin of reaching for areas of need

I never said they played at the same level, just that they had similar role players who fulfilled their roles. I'd take their tight end over what the Ravens had in a heartbeat, for what that's worth.

And I'm not surprised that a Denver DB would admit that or even do that since they were the best secondary in the league and had two likely top 10-15 players in that secondary as far as corners go with their nickel in the top 50.

That's fair and I agree on the latter point of the first sentence. Also agree with the last point too.

Do we know if he tried to trade the 32nd pick

The Armstead pick brings up bad memories for me. I wanted the Ravens to take him 1st round, but we took Elam and Arthur Brown instead. Now he's a top LT in the league.

I like the Julio and Hopkins picks

Thank you. I passed on a bigger and more consistent name, but Hopkins was an enticing option in my mind because he was at times a one-man wrecking crew despite lacking another outside option to take the pressure off of him, and more impressively, playing with a plethora of sub-par signal callers. Given his age, I felt that he still comes with upside despite the breakout season.

I'm guessing Sizzle didn't leave his board?

Please don't pick my guy. I know for a fact that Sizzle will not.

Lol, I've been going against the grain so far so you're probably safe

Pick was tough, but ultimately it came down to one thing: No one has scored more touchdowns at the position (and in general) than Dez Bryant except for Gronkowski coming into the season and Gronk only passed him because Dez missed some time. If I can count on him for 12-16 touchdowns a year, he's worth this pick easy.

nice to see my last year's fourth rounder go in the early second :D

Pretty sure my WRs unit won't look as good as it was back then.

I thought he was a terrific pick at the time. I strongly considered nabbing Rob Gronkowski in the 2nd and targeting Hopkins thereafter lat year. Glad that your pick gave its returns in spades.

I got Hopkins my first year playing this game fairly late in the game and I remember one member hating on it because he'd never be more than a two.

Now he's steadily improved every single year and probably won't slow down.

Nuke was always my fav wideout from 13. And one of my fav players in the league. I woukd have taken him at my next pick. Should have known he woukdnt last. WR is always the most over drafted position in this. To me there's a big drop off to the rest now.

Great pick on your end. If it helps, I recall another member questioning whether he's No.1 during last year's DaF as well. I was personally sold on him at the very least being in conversation after he completely embarrassed Tennessee in 2014, dropping 9 catches and 238 yards on just 9 targets.

Agreed there. In fact, there was one I was considering right there with Hopkins.
