We could turn CB injuries into a drinking game at this point.

Depending on how the secondary looked/looks, every Sunday verged on drinking game / drinking problem.

Get better Jumal, I've heard those are extremely painful

With our luck with DB's staying healthy, I would take Frank Walker at this point.

Don't even joke about that...

We would be better off not playing anyone at corner and just have 2 three more linebackers to rush and just hope A. We get a sack or B. The receiver doesn't catch it. At least then we don't have to worry about PI

Achilles injuries have really plagued this team in the last few years. Does our practice field turf have to be changed out, like the field at M&T?.......just a thought.

It wasn't at the facility, I don't believe. He's a veteran and wasn't hurt at the time, so he didn't attend this weekend. Sounds like it might have been on his own.

That's fair to think

Maybe if most of the Achilles injuries happened at our practice facility.  Suggs 1st happened in Az, His 2nd happened in Den. SSS  = M&T.

There's no rhyme or reason to how an Achilles ruptures.  The best analogy is the Achilles is like a rubber band, a weak one will eventually

tear.

Especially when you make sudden movements which most athletes all do. But it was a good point that it didn't happen at the Castle. I wonder how he snapped it.

I'd love to see what percentage of guys who tear their Achilles or even get a Lisfranc are wearing the low cut, soccer style cleats; As opposed to guys who wear a mid cut cleat that gives your Achilles more of a compression.

I'd be more interested to see the percentage of injuries on turf as opposed to regular grass fields

Steve Smith 's tear wasn't even turf related.  He was trying to pull out of an ankle tackle.  Or at least it seems to me that's how it happened.

This 2013 study by Dodson et al. reviewed ACL tears in the NFL in order to see if there were any trends.  I've attached a screen shot from Table.4 of the study and as you can see, ACL injury rates are nearly the same on grass and artificial turf.  No statistically significant findings.

Another study that was just released a few months ago that aimed at identifying extrinsic risk factors for injuries. They found that playing surface had no significant effect on concussions, hamstring injuries, ankle injuries, knee injuries, but they did note that playing a team game on grass actually increased the risk of shoulder injury.

"anecdotal evidence and player reports suggest poor footing on newly sodded soft grass surfaces27 potentially increasing the risk of falls and shoulder impacts."

The only solid association this study found was cold temperature correlating to concussions and ankle injuries.

Ironically, they just put down the new sod at M&T yesterday.
