Per Jamison Hensley, Elam will be a free agent after this season.  Put up or shut up for the young man.

Shut up on Twitter, especially.

Watch he ends up dominating this year lol

Even if he does, its a $6M payday for the option just about. We'd probably let him walk for that price even if he had a good season.

First salvo in what I think will be a surprising pre season for him. I know he was a first round pick, but patience has worn thin and last season was supposed to be make or break for him and he got hurt. Not his fault, but still...if he comes to camp and shows the same holes in his game I think he's a cut.

This is a resume season for him.

He is playing for a job.

Elsewhere.

Not that this in any way makes Elam look better, but the 2013 first round draft class overall looks like it just didn't quite measure up:

32 first round picks, 12 of them had their 5th year options declined, one has already been released (Bjorn Werner) and one is suspended so his option can't be picked up (Dion Jordan). So looking like close to half of the players won't have fifth year options picked up.

5 of the top 10 taken overall did not have their fifth year options picked up.

Some pretty good players in that first round, but there's also probably an unusual amount of awful one's.
