Haunted by Missing Ramsey....

204 posts in this topic

I'm happy we didn't reach for ramsey with a 3rd or 4th round pick as trade bait. Idk what it is, but I don't see it in the film or stats. Yeah he has the measurables but so have many others. I guess it's the lack of big plays..

I felt the same thing man, just a hunch. Skill positions are way more "hit or miss" as well. I think we chose right

Ramsey never enamored me. His best fit is probably strong safety. He never showed ball skills to excel at free safety. But he could be a very rare talent at strong safety. But in my opinion tavon shows more ball skills than Ramsey. And I'm more disappointed we did not land Reshard Robinson. He is the best cornerback in the draft. He has Richard Sherman like skills but probably not quite  as intelligent as Sherman. If Tunsil lights it up and Ron Stanley fails to get stronger in his upper body will haunt the ravens far more than Ramsey. Do not take it the wrong way. Ron Stanley is a better natural left tackle with natural technique to generate power. But his upper body needs more muscle and strength to reach his potential. Especially in the nfl now.

It's not the fact that we didn't move up for Ramsey, we tried to move up but the price was too steep.

Our Front Office wanted Ramsey, who is effectively a safety, in the worst way and then they passed on Tunsil when he was somehow, against all probability, available to us.

Both moves make my skin crawl

You are not in favor if a 4-3?? At all??

I have no problem with a 4-3. I'd like to see more man on man than I do zone which is what the Tampa2 favors keeping the coverage over the top

We can't use a Tampa 2. We don't have the personnel for it and you need a rare type of LB to play that. If we were able to land cravens we wouldve been able to run a 34 type of Tampa 2 if Frazier wanted to be innovative.

Plus, the downsides to Tampa 2 are the same as pees defense. Bend but don't break. Keep the play in front of the db's and the closer they get to the end zone the tighter the Windows get. With the right personnel though a Tampa 2 is a much more effective method than having all your dbs sitting beyond the sticks and rotating coverages and letting slot receivers run free for the first 5 yards.

Exactly. I seen enough of bend and break last year. Also like you said we lack a coverage LB

Never be haunted by someone who hasn't played a down in the NFL!!!!

Let's see how he play this season before we get spooked.

It's still gonna be bend but don't break. The difference here though is I think we break a lot less due to less blown zone assignments. Will hill freelanced way too often and Kendrick Lewis didn't know what the hell he was doing lol. Also if tavon young is legit I think we have a lot more turnovers. This zone heavy scheme we run is supposed to do 2 things well: catch and tackle for short gains, and easy breaking on the ball should allow for turnovers. Sadly the past few years we haven't had quality corners because of injury so we couldn't break on routes, and our safeties left our corners out to dry so guys were always finding soft spots. Also not having a nickel corner allows for quick reads so we just had a perfect storm of bad secondary play. I think we'll see huge improvements

Well what your basically describing is the Tampa 2 mindset which is the reason why Frazier could be an excellent fit to coach our secondary. With 2 more intelligent safeties and with Jimmy being healthy this could work but I'm just more a believer in man to man with a safety roaming deep but that's me and that's why I've always complained about Pees's style. I don't want to give up nothing.

So Ramsey just had a meniscus tear... can you imagine the uproar of the boards if we drafted him and that happened? he's expected back by training camp but stilll

Reports are coming out that he suffered some tear, but he's expected to be ready for training camp. He is getting a second opinion.

Why do we have a thread for a player that isn't even playing here?  I know people hate every player we draft but come on, get over it.

Now their top 2 picks have a torn meniscus.

If we drafted Ramsey and Jack like everyone wanted... Just imagine.

I'm pretty sure there would be riots in every thread and the Mods would have to shut the site down.

I see you shut down a thread. May I ask why ? Is that your job to do so ? Thanks.

hate to see anyone ever get injured, but the irony of this has to make at least some laugh....because im willing to bet that if we would of took him, all these people haunted by our non trade would be blaming Oz and Co. for this....good god

Because some posters tend to make personal statements to one another and veer off the topic in the thread.  Personal attacks are prohibited

You did... I feel like since I got a little off topic with one of the Mods I feel like it would've been hilarious if you would've come in to day get back on topic.

Now what was this thread about?  Oh yeah, Ramsey.  We all need to get back on topic.  There has been an excess of hijacking already today.

I guess it takes the sting off a little bit, now that ESPN is reporting he just tore his meniscus. Maybe we are lucky that Dallas rejected our trade offer especially after what we went through last season with our #1 pick ;)

Mods are like putting bumpers on the edge of bowling lanes.  Some of us don't seem to stay in our lanes.  I am so glad that we took Stanley over Ramsey now.

Does anyone think that Perriman will be back on the field this season or is he the next David Reed or Travis Taylor?
