[News] Eisenberg: An 'Interesting' Night For Ravens

99 posts in this topic

Sometimes when the guy you want is a few spots ahead of where you are you trade up and make it happen. It may cost a little more now but if you get a J.Ogden, R.Lewis or E.Reed caliber player then the cost is worth it. Or you can just see who falls to you and settle.... I know you can think of a few players who just were not worth the pick

I had such high hope for next season before this draft.. Aw well go ravens or whatever

Stanley is not a flashy pick but he will be a difference maker on the offense next year. At least he won't fall into the quarterback and sidleline him for the year.

Tomorrow should be fun. Ravens are listed for 5 picks of 5th round players. I wonder what the odds are on 5th rounders making it in the nfl?

I 100% agree. .picks dont win you games, playmakers do..Throw some of those late round picks, and a second this year, and a second next year, for ex, and get your guy. If the 2nd rounder you gave up was another Matt Elam or Sergio Kindle, but you secured that Calvin Johnson for Flacco, or got a Jalen Ramsey, then freakin do it! Get the anchors, or foundation of your team set.

Looks like the glory years of the ravens is over, This draft verifies that. Looks like everyone was right we really are nothing without ray lewis :( And i blame all of you for making ozzies head so big to wear he reaches on a bunch of ghost name players.. In ozzie we trust my a%#

This presser made tonight all the more infuriating. Ozzie admitting there was a point we would've taken Myles Jack "But somebody came up and got him"... I'm sorry what? We're the one's who traded the pick the Jags used to get him! I just honestly feel like we will kick ourselves over passing on Jack for many years to come. Correa is far from a polished pro ready player, there is risk involved with him... but the upside for Jack is 10x higher.

Also more tales of "We tried to trade into the 1st and 2nd", it's just unbelievable that we can't get a deal done for players we clearly covet enough to trade for. Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and give up what a team wants if it means you get YOUR GUY. Just sounded like we were being stingy with picks and settled for Plan C or Plan D instead of just dealing the dang picks and getting our Plan A or Plan B. I'm sorry I'm not a huge fan of hoarding mid round picks, quality over quantity. I think we did decent but this draft had the potential to be so much more for us.

Trade back early in the 2nd (a first round type pick) to the middle and get someone from a smaller school with a high motor that was obviously graded by other teams to go there or later? Can you say Ragland, Cyrus Jones, etc.? Why? Extra fliers in later rounds that most likely won't pan out. Studs were there for the taking and we'd rather have a 4th or a 5th? Track record speaks for itself the last 6 or 7 years. Why am I not surprised...

Hold on Hold on. So your telling me ozzie trades back twice to get more picks in a round that great players usually dont from. ahahaha nice ozzie nice, he just set the franchise back half a century

The Stanley pick was solid. Saturday's were a head scratcher. Why do we always find a way to blow the 2nd & 3rd round pick? Big bodied, Big school talent was there and now it's gone. For what? a 4th and a 5th?

The more I think on it the more I'm absolutely infuriated about passing on Myles Jack. The Jags played us for fools, a 5th round pick for the rights to a Top 5 talent... I'm sick. I understand not taking him in the 1st. But in the 2nd? The reward outweighs the risk so much that it breaks my brain that our front office couldn't pull the trigger on him. Look, modern medicine is an amazing thing. Take the damn blue chip player in the 2nd round!!! The Cowboys and Jags understand the risk/reward.

Correa is risky in his own way as a prospect, just sickening. Myles Jack should be a Raven and I don't know if I can sleep tonight after this. I would rather swing for the fences and strike out then hit a stand up single.

I cant believe we didnt get a stud, just to get more picks. More picks do not = playmakers. We had plenty of picks, we need talent. Our FO always think they are smarter than everybody else, but recent draft history has not shown that. It shows that we whiff more than we hit. This is not the year to whiff. I hope I am wrong, but wheres the studs? 3 high picks, and half the fan base is scratching their heads, the pundits respect us too much to say how they really feel, damn I hope I am wrong

After a bout of sulking and pouting, and throwing some tantrums, I decided it was best to research these guys thoroughly with what was available on the net about them. What I found out was exactly as described by Ozzie and gang. Relentless motors, ball see- ball get and with great work ethic and plain enthusiastic football players period. I think we got 2 really good players and 3 additional picks to boot. How bad can that be? We still have a bunch of draftable players on our boards I'm certain. That is the reason why Eric and Ozzie are excited about tomorrow. 5 picks in the 4th round can be a game changer for the Ravens.
Here are some of the players I see targeting in the 4th and 5th rounds:
Andrew Billings ( safety net for Brandon Williams' potential free agency departure)
Alex Collins (RB)
Rashard Higgins (WR)
Kentrell Brothers (ILB)
Devontae Booker (RB)
Christian Westerman (Oline)
Tyler Matakevich, ILB/OLB,
Connor Cook, QB,
Vadal Alexander, Oline
Kolby Listenbee (WR)
Scooby Wright (ILB)
and a slew of other picks. With 5 picks in the 4th, 1 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th we are going to hit on 50-60% of those becoming starters or able back ups. So, what is really not to like about this draft?

Theres gotta be some accountability here, or a strategy restructure....all more picks equal, are either more rotation guys, or more special teamers....I honestly feel like we dont know what we are doing anymore

Ozzie didn't draft those two guys for the 2016 season. Doom and Suggs will be the guys this year. These two were drafted to learn the system and be ready for the 2017 season. We have quality starters just about everywhere. Our problem last year was we lost to damn many and no team could overcome that. I don't care who they are. QB, 2 RB's, 4 receivers and two linemen. And that's just on offense. The ravens need young depth for this year. Guys they can groom to be starters a year or two from now. Stanley was the best choice the more I think about it. He was a serious need. More so than a young backup that wouldn't unseat the starter this year anyway. The exception would of been jack but I can see why Ozzie shied away from him considering the amount of injuries over the last three seasons. All 3 picks have ZERO injury issues. The ravens were a SB team coming into last season. It was lack of depth that killed that.

Where do we need talent? Our problem last year was our backups sucked. No depth for the injuries. When Suggs went down we had nobody to fill that. Now we have two. And you Fuss about fixing a glaring need because he didn't draft "your guy"that more than likely wouldn't of been a starter anyway. Miles Jack is the exception. But I can see why Ozzie wouldn't invest 2nd on a guy that more than likely wouldn't even finish his rookie contract. Might not even last a year. In the last three years injuries has killed this team. Even in the playoffs two years ago we had guys on the roster that wasn't even in the NFL when the season started. And damn near beat the pats with those guys. We need depth that can become starters. Not some guy from home depot suiting up.

I rather be walking in tomorrow with 2-3 4th round draft picks and have gotten Ramsey and Myles Jack. If Dallas didn't take a 4th to move two spots offer a 4th and a 6th or Charges a 4th and 4th. We could of gotten Ramsey, Jack still had at worst 2 fourth round draft pick and they could of gotten the DE they wanted in the 3rd. I am OK with Stanley and he might be great but i think Ramsey helps us more.

We do need to upgrade in talent.

It is time for Ozzie to go, Eric to go and the scouts must go

We'll see but remember the owner in an interview in January said that he wanted production through the first four rounds. He laid a marker down and if they tank again in '17 it's a pretty good bet they'll be major changes in the FO.

It seem that people want live in the past when it comes ozzie picks. quick run down. kyle boller, david reed, arthur brown, mark clayton, chris redman, john simon ,tadon doss, matt elam. I think that people get the picture. We draft special team player that never pan out. I like a lot of draft pick statement makes me sick. why have have them if you dont use them. Like i said Ozzie ,Eric an the scouts need to go.
