[News] Ravens 2016 Draft Tracker

65 posts in this topic

Sadly this will be the draft that we look back at when the Jaguires become the team to regularly knock us out of the playoffs. I love our team but I am very disappointed we traded back twice in the second round. Especially to the Jaguires that we knew would draft Myles Jack, why not get a 4th round out of it instead of a 5th. If Myles Jack wasn't the BPA when we traded back and decided he was worth a 5th Rd pick then it's a sad day to be a Ravens fan.  Again I'm not bashing who we drafted but I guess it's just my fault for getting my hopes up for a difference making draft.

I've been doing nonstop research on all our draft picks so far. And I'm happy to report to you, it is a pretty good draft so far. I was of the exact same opinion as you when the picks were being made. What irked me the most was trading down twice when at least 3 players Jack, Spence and Ragland could've been had. But, after doing the research on both Correa and Kaufusi, they're both high character players with great work ethic and a non-stop motor and both fill an important need for us right now. So, we may be surprise 3-4 yrs down the road this may turn out to be one of our top draft classes. At least that is what I hope for.

sad, bad, boring draft,so your telling me,we didnt grab a stud pass rusher or a stud corner? a mushy looking o-line dude thats nice as a baby kitten? and wasted your second and third round picks to just get more guy's that may or may not make someones practice squad and their shoving down our throats were supposed to be happy? i thought we were the smart guys in the draft,i think we just out drafted ourselves.

I think that we are looking at a make or break draft for the scouts and maybe a self check for the front office. There has been some scouting changes over the last few years and I think some of them need to be really looked at closer. We seemed to whiff on natural prospects and get players who are injury prone or don't pan out. I know you can't strike it rich every draft, but let's face it we haven't been as good as we should be. This class should be providing stars and they may still be. But it's looking like another average year with nothing truly exceptional. Stanley is a great pick and he will be great. It's Day 2's draft board that has me scratching my head. We should've had more compensation from Jacksonville and Miami. Other teams who traded back after us had better deals. Better players were on the board and we passed, I don't see the advantage of amassing more 4th round picks. 5? We will be lucky to get 2 out of the 5 to stick. I would see the advantage if we had recent success. I hope the talent on Saturday is there because I think we will truly need it. We know as the draft progresses the talent level falls. This is a talent rich draft and I hope it pans out for us. I am just afraid, we are resting on our laurels of drafts gone by and not looking in the mirror and see why we seem to draft average and not grab what we need when we need it. "We can get a Corner in the second round", instead we trade back for a fourth, then again for a 5th?? I thought the 2nd round position was like getting another 1st rounder instead we go deeper in and come out with someone NO one even heard of that looks like he should've been taken in the middle instead of top of the 2nd. I am sorry, guys, I LOVE my Ravens, but what is going on? Reality check please.

Jack is deemed too much of a health risk, and Spence and Tunsil were deemed untouchable for character reasons. We got three guys who play hard and have no real character issues and they also happen to be at positions of need. There's still a lot of talent on the board. If we can find a sleeper or two in our next 8 picks, ideally a corner, it was a decent draft.

What we didn't do, and I think is most upsetting some people is come away with flashy playmakers. Bosa, Ramsey both would have fit that bill, but it wasn't to be. We instead came away with guys with good motors who will bring their lunch pail to work and grind it out. I think there are some playmakers still out there in the fourth, and it will be interesting to see how we use all those picks. I hope we use the tradable sixth to try and move the fifth up a few spots if there's anyone worthy. I also hope Ozzie keeps stockpiling defensive players because frankly it will be tough for a late round TE, RB or WR to make the team behind the guys we already have and recently signed at all those positions  already.

I like the picks so far. All 3 fill a major need. LT from day one and two good pass rushers that play like ravens. Relentless. Does anyone really think that anyone they drafted this year would take Suggs or Doom's job? Not every player is drafted to be a starter. It's called building the team. That's what Ozzie did today. And did a great job doing it.

And he still has 8 picks to work with. If he can come away with a corner and ILB who will make the team he has reloaded pretty nicely.

i don't know why WR is listed as a "need" on the PFT and others lists though. If someone good falls to us, sure, but right now it looks pretty crowded with SSSr, Perriman, Wallace, Aiken, Camp, Matthews, M Brown, Hunter, D Brown, Jacobs, Clay and (if he's not a TE) Waller. Anyone we draft is going to need to be stowed on the PS because it would be tough to make the field behind the first 4.

The Jaguars have regularly done this, and their guys haven't amounted to much... until they leave and go elsewhere. while they put good players on the field, the seldom "grow" a good team. We've seen that by bringing them to ours a few years later and they have performed for us. I trust that the Ravens made the right choices... not the popular ones..

Like somebody mentioned on these boards, only one other team Seattle seems to take picks nobody even knew about or thought were reaches. They seem to pan out in record numbers. Hopefully this draft turns out similarly for the Ravens. Exceedingly 'meh' to this point, but in a few years could turn out to be a 'wow' draft.

Question: Will the Ravens FO show the world that they were right, and smarter than the pundits and fans by passing on some very good players, or will we suffer another season of 3rd place in division, and only having old almost retirement age playmakers on the team? Only time will tell

Honestly no one knows how anyone of these players will turnout, I mean Greg Robinson was suppose to be the second coming of Orlando Pace, still might end up being great but as of now not so much. When we drafted Arthur Brown I was pumped but obviously wrong pick to this point. Lastly the best wideout from last year's draft after Amri Cooper was 5th rounder Diggs (bearing Perriman and White did not play at all last year). All in all we are just looking at the names we know and the names the media are over hyping (big schools prime time players), but at the end of the day I think the Correa will end up having a Jamie Collins like impact who went at the end of the 2012 draft (possibly best defensive player that year). So lets wait and see how these picks pan out.

Like the Willie Henry and Alex Lewis, Dixon picks. However, crowed backfield with good LB and S still on the board. Would have loved Killibrew over Young.

I loved the Stanley pick but feel like Tunsil or Buckner would've been better. Kaufusi and Correa are good high motor players but still feel like better players were there. We got Young who is an ok pick but idk Kalan Reed could've been a good steal. Chris Moore pick I don't like it was atleast 2 or 3 receivers on the board better to me. Overall a B draft so far.

Another RB??? That's brings the total to 6...

Have you seen this guy play? He was a projected 3rd round pick that we got in the 5th. He's a scoring machine with 87 td's. I can see him making the team easy. Someone will be out of a job. I loved this pick. Wanted him in the 4th and was screaming at every pick that wasn't him. I thought for sure he'd be gone before we picked in the 5th round.

I know we've got a lot of former GMs and resident expert draft gurus on the forum, but Todd McShay just said this is the best 4th rd he's seen any team have

Kenneth Dixon sounds like a Raven:

"I feel very disrespected, because, I mean not knocking Ezekiel Elliot but he hasn't done the things I've done. I had 87 touchdowns in my college career. I led the nation in touchdowns two years in a row," Dixon said in the episode. "I'm prepared to play in this league and I'm just ready to take on the challenge."

Dixon is the No. 5 best-available prospect for NFL Network's Mike Mayock and the No. 9 best-available prospect on the board of ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper.

"One of my favorite running backs in the draft, Dixon takes contact and turns it into extra yardage," Kiper wrote.

so,can anyone tell me where other than bringing in WEDDLE this offseason where we have improved? if you flip picks with SAN FRAN,we get an A and not the B.do we have anybody that's an upgrade now than we did at the end of last season? still no lockdown corner and still no beast pass rusher.really i'll take a guy that smoked some herb,"WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER" and twice as strong, than a kid with a questional football heart and toughness and looks like he's never done a push-up in his life.but like i said, where did we really address our greatest needs anyway? a bunch of high charicter guy's that will end up on someone elses practice squad.RAVENS fans are one of the smartest fan's out there, mabey they should listen to us instead of dismissing our wishes.I never thought i'd say this, but the SKIN'S now have a team from top to bottom, including QB. that is better than ours and we do play them this year, mabey will get it right in the first part of the draft next year.
