[News] Round 3: Ravens Draft DE Bronson Kaufusi At No. 70

105 posts in this topic

Just because we haven't heard of these guys doesn't mean they suck. Scouts have been watching these guys for ages, studying tape and what not. I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing.
If they really think someone like Myles Jack or Noah Spence would've been a better choice they would've picked them when they had the chance.

I don't know a thing about Correa and Kaufusi, and we can't assume anything about how good or bad they'll be in the NFL. I still trust Ozzie & Co. For everyone who wanted Spence, there was never any chance of Ozzie taking him. Just today on this site, there was a quote from Harbaugh about (paraphrased) 'the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior'. So I don't think the Ravens ever seriously considered Spence. And taking guys like Jack w/ injury concerns was also a non-starter after their experience w/ Perriman. Can you imagine the embarassment if they took Jack and he ended up not playing? So, to focus on what we do know, my question is whether Ozzie took too little to move back. Other teams who were picking behind us seemed to get more for their picks. We moved back twice and got a 5th and a 4th rounder, and the 5th rounder was for our 36th position. The teams behind us who traded down got 2 picks, I think. I know one team got a 4th rounder plus a 2017 pick. So I feel like Ozzie left a little bit on the table. I could be wrong. Curious what you all think.

So all of Hargaugh's buddies get second chances, but no players do... These are young kids who are figuring out things in life. Some, straighten themselves out. Some need help. But, no. No second chances here. Unless you worked with Harbaugh before.

Asa Jackson, Will Hill, Timmy Jernigan, Nick Boyle, etc. etc. Yeah, no second chances on the Ravens.

Our problem is (as fans) we hear so much hype on Espn about their favorite players that when we don't get them were all upset. When in fact the Ravens don't listen to ESPN when they make their draft board. Last years draft produced some quality players and I'm sure this years draft will too.

Exactly. Like I said in another thread, once people realize that there's a 99.9% chance that the Ravens aren't going to pick their guy, they'll be able to enjoy the draft a whole lot more.

I'm not saying Stanley, Correa, and Kaufusi are not good players. My expectation with the 6th overall pick was impact players. I looked at plenty of mocks, big boards. No one had Correa better than Spence. Every playoff team and contenders have a Beast. Top notch players that you scheme for if your facing them. JJ Watt, Antonio Brown, AJ Green, Gronk, Von Miller, Dez Bryant, Richard Sherman, Adrian Peterson, etc... Who do you Ravens have that would scare you if you were the other team? Our best players are over 30 years old. This draft was supposed to add one of those type players. I don't see it.

No mocks, big boards had Conklin ranked above Tunsil either.

2013: Spence suspended for failed drug tests
2014: Spence kicked out of conference for more failed drug tests.
2014: Attended Intense Outpatience Addiction treatment
2015: Arrested for Alcohol & Disorderly Conduct

That's the player you want to gamble a 2nd Round pick on especially when he gets a big pocket full of cash??

Stanley is a franchise LT. I don't know who you think the Ravens could of drafted that would be JJ Watt, Dez Bryant or Adrian Peterson (Btw, those guys have only seen the Super Bowl on TV). Buckner? Please - Correa had more sacks than him in college. Shaq Lawson? Stanley dominated him in college. Jack is going to need another major knee surgery soon and he's yet to even take a hit from an NFL player. Sure his game tape BEFORE his knee injury looks good but is he even the same player now?

Frankly, I find it difficult with commenters like you who insist on using facts to support their views. What is this world coming to? ( Actually , enjoyed your post- good job)

Agreed. If Jacksonville really wanted Jack that badly, we should have gotten more from them. Same for Miami.

How do you know what was offered and what was taken? Part of the problem today is that people who have never engaged in sports negotiations seem to have all of the answers even though they are not privy to the actual negotiations.

i didnt see any teams trading back into the 1st rd. to grab jack or spence. we are not in position to gamble on jacks knee or spences possible character issue. 2 of our weaknesses have been addressed with lt and pass rush. we have plenty of picks to go to add help to wr and cb. take a deep breath and relax you all and give these players a chance these next few years. if this draft is a bust i will be the 1st one to say i was wrong in defending the front office and will take your abuse as a man. i see the fo pkg some of these picks to move up if there is a specific player they are targeting

I hear what your saying and agree somewhat.  I think it's just that the Ray Rice incident is still in the rear-view, and the recent loss of Tray (not saying anything bad about the lad), the FO are playing it real safe.  I think five years ago the team would've taken a couple more chances with character issue guys, just not right now.    And on Tunsil, could you imagine having him and Monroe together, that's a bad recipe right there.  It's a business as well as a sport (as much as we might not want it to be), and a teams image has an impact on the bottom line.

Happy to wait until September to see how these guys pan out seeing as I haven't watched hundreds of hours of tape or had the chance to interview them, and basically don't know them from Adam lol.

This guy should be a great pick... after he spends a year or so in the weight room.

They might keep him where he's at and have him be an edge-setting OLB guy to replace Upshaw.

Why the hate on the draft picks thus far? Ozzie and crew are going back to the roots by drafting in the trenches, whether defense or offense. We have 5 4th rounders with plenty of talent left. Also, considering our team was suffering from injuries, adding these guys to the mix just makes us a better team, and from the looks of it... They're drafting players that have great character and want to win super bowls. With that said I welcome them with open arms. GO RAVENS!!!!!

It is going to be really hard to find a corner in the forth and beyond. I hope Shareece Wright and Will Davis play well. Guess we'll see with these picks. I mean the Ravens needed O Line help which they addressed in the 1st. And we got a pass rusher and a D end which were also positions of need for the Ravens. Going forward I def see Ozz grabbing a D Tack or two and another O Line men or two. Guess this is the year we fill in the trenches. Def completely shocked about the picks. I guess we will be watching Jacksonville for a few years now, seeing what could of or could of not been.
