2016 Draft Rounds 2 & 3 "Game Thread"

Kind of at a loss here friends. I love the picks we have made but am at a loss as to why we did not grab a corner or receiver. We are sure Jimmy S will not be off the field again or look lost on every double move he gets. Not to mention Breshard, who knows what he is going to do. Don't get me wrong, i love nothing more then our TE's going across the middle to move the chains but sooner or later we need to be able to go deep and to get off the field on 3rd downs on defense.

But as I said, the Titans may have just flat out said no. It wouldn't shock me if they did

Yeah, Titans did most likely, but it's not like we didn't have the option to trade back into the 1st. That's more what I was talking.

OK. But what did we have to offer to trade back into the late first round? Probably would have required giving up a 2017 pick or two. And I'm not sure what it would have taken to switch places with the Titans, but considering how flush they already were they pretty much had zero incentive to entertain a trade. My guess the price was/would have been unacceptable. Pretty sure in any first or second round scenario our 2016 4th would have been of little value.

We had a thirds and 2 tradeable 4ths. If they like a guy that much You must g get him. We are just to conservative and hoard picks. Time will tell whether 3 or 4 4th round picks would be better than trading them all to jump up a few spots in some rounds to get that guy you really covet.

I, personally, would just be more agressive in getting a guy that I loved, even if it meant giving slightly more than you'd like to make the trade go through. That's just my personality I guess. I'd take the risk.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was judging anything, just looking for an opinion.

Given the present state of the franchise(character issue avoidance, injuries) I just don't see anyone they would have taken that was missed by trading down.

No need to be sorry. Tank you said absolutely nothing wrong in your post were cool. I just would not have minded a little bit of a gamble on Jack though.

You do realize how many injuries we've dealt with the last couple years and Jaylon Smith is defintly not even playing next year and possibly never and you wanna keep rolling the dice. Our pick was in quick and we knew who we wanted, got him and gained a couple picks. My only disappointment was not using a couple 4ths to try to get back into the 3rd but who knows maybe they tried.

Also every pick is a gamble.

So true cant argue that but since every pick is indeed a gamble I would have liked to gamble on Jack at 36 just my opinion.

Everybody has their opinions on these players.  Are they the "sexy" picks?  Maybe not to you.  Have you done your homework on the players we chose?  I would say most haven't.  There are many players we have chosen that were not top picks but have turned into really great players.  For Pete Sake, Br*dy was #199.  So before we all decide to jump off the cliff or hang ourselves because of this "awful draft", let's just let it all settle in.  Along with the other guys that they have brought in during this offseason.

Mom Gene, your so right opinions are just opinions. Sometimes we just got to come back down to earth and trust in Oz and his staff that they got it right.

I am disappointed they didn't trade up with KC. It took the 49ers their fourth and sixth round picks. I find it truly hard to believe that the Ravens could not match or beat that.

That's my issue right there. That's why I was mad. I mean, really? We couldn't part with those picks? It's not like that's an expensive price to pay.

The reason it bothers me the most is because it gives the team a fifth year option. That alone is worth so much and worth more than a fourth and sixth, to me.

In principle, I don't disagree. But I don't see how a 3rd and two 4ths would get us back into the first round, or considering the potential trade partners, even where we would have needed to be in the second.
