Jimmy Smith to have surgery on his foot monday

25 posts in this topic

Someone that apparently knows jimmy smith has said he's getting surgery on Monday to fix the pins in his foot from the lisfranc surgery.

This "injury" was recently reported by Mike Preston a couple of weeks ago.

May or may not be true, but thought I'd pass the info on.

Mods can lock thread until Monday to we see what happens if you want.

if it's pin extraction thats an outpatient procedure and no big deal

More like replacement. This person said the pins have moved and need removed then re lodged or whatever in his foot.

Good thing we selected Jalen Ramsey after the Cowboys accepted our trade offer.

Thought I dreamt that. That's a relief, it's ok then

Well.. Lisfranc is a career derailer sometimes. Lets hope it's not that big a deal and he still plays like he was late last year.

This would explain the attempt to trade up to get Ramsey!

I think Ramsey was our guy anyway. After the bong incident I think our board went bosa>Ramsey>Stanley and I think we really settled for Stanley since apparently we offered enough to make Jerry agree to a trade then back out last second. We must have really wanted Ramsey bad, if this played a factor it was probably a very small one

Well recording to reports, we had Stanley rated higher than Tunsil before the bong incident, so I dont think that played a part in rearranging our board.

Here's is Rotoworld's report...

Jimmy Smith - DB - Ravens

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith will undergo a second surgery on his surgically-repaired foot this week to remove the screws from the first procedure.

This helps explain why GM Ozzie Newson tried so hard to trade up to No. 4 to take Florida State CB Jalen Ramsey on Thursday night. The Ravens "hope" Smith will only be sidelined 4-6 weeks. Should he only miss a month to a month-and-a-half, Smith should be ready well in time for training camp this summer. But it's obviously a concern after Smith didn't play well at all last season after suffering a Lisfranc fracture late in his breakout 2014 campaign.

I don't think we tried to trade up because of Jimmy. If we had Ramsey at the top our board and wanted to trade up ahead of Jacksonville to get him then it's because he was our top player overall.

It sounds like he has time to recover I wouldn't read too much into it and it sounds like they are just taking the screws out.

That's how I took it as well. Could be nothing. As long as he doesn't get an infection we're good..

Yeah, that part isn't really accurate in their analysis. We were moving up from Ramsey because we considered him to be a great player. A healthy Jimmy doesn't impact that.

Yep. I think they're just trying to make a story out of it. I can't say I blame them.

I agree and they said 4-6 weeks to recover from the day of the surgery and it is Monday. We do not need him until September. He should be good to go in 4 months.

Yeah but you want him out there for camp and the preseason. He's got until at least July to heal up, which is like 8-10 weeks. I'll be concerned if by July we hear he's still not working out.

I read somewhere it was a surgery meant to remove the screws from his Lisfranc surgery if I'm not mistaken. But, he still needs a few weeks of recovery time I believe.

I hate the cowboys! Reneging on a deal because they thought we were going to take Elliot. Smh!

That wasnt the reason at all why that trade didnt happen.

To be honest I think we were looking at Ramsey to replace Webb a year down the road. He's always been graded as a better S. Don't think it had anything to do with Jimmy or else we would've grabbed Alexander or one of the other corners in the 2nd.

It might be a stretch but does anyone think this may help Jimmy's game? It's got to feel better playing on a foot that doesn't have screws in it

hard to say. Just depends on how his body recovers afterwards.
