[News] Eisenberg: In Ozzie You Trust?

Couldn't disagree with this pick more. Apparently the Ravens are the only folks who had Stanley rated higher than Buckner. Deforest Buckner was perfect fit for this defense. Starting in 2009 with the move up to grab Oher, our drafts have not been good. In 2010 we allowed Dallas to steal Dez Bryant from us and then we drafted Sergio Kindle after allowing New England to steal Gronk. Matt Elam, Arthur Brown, Breshad Perriman, et al...our drafts have been weak. We needed a play maker drafting at #6 and we draft a soft OT who doesn't run block. Sounds like we just got a Monroe clone. We should have picked Buckner and it should have been an easy pick. Count me out of the "In Ozzie we trust" club. I seriously question the judgement of Ozzie, Eric DeCosta, Joe Ortiz and their staffs. This team is mediocre and that is their responsibility.

Yeah I don't see Buckner as much of a pass rusher, particularly in a 3-4.

Needless to say, when it comes to fans or NFL personnel executives, its not hard to figure who's judgment I trust more...

Is Stanley tough enough? Strong enough? How is he going to run block? Personally, I see them easing him into the LT spot next year..... unless Monroe is hurt again. Oh yeah. I guess we will find out soon enough.

What are you talking about? Stanley has all the physical tools and is the better run blocker coming from a program that used pro type running schemes at college. If your going to blast someone you had better get your facts straight.

His only knock, was he is not as polished in pass pro, where he will need to develop. The Ravens have a great line coach in Juan Castillo that will get results. He has helped 4/5 round line talent play above their drafted status. The difference in pass pro between Stanley and Tunsil is very small vs the run though Stanley is the clear winner and Tunsil is the guy that teams were asking is he was tough or mean enough to become a road paver.

Super safe pick. I hate it. There was Tunsil at OL and everybody else. Stanley was at the top of everybody else. I don't care if Tunsil smoked weed, or took money or any other immature things, he's a kid in a giant mans body...he learned. He doesn't rape, beat or do any thug life things to really red flag him. The video is only going to get the best OT a chip on his shoulder and that is great for Miami. Truth will be know in a few years but WOW...I really am disappointed in out pick. The Ravens are scared of any risk now because of past media circuses. Sorry Ozwaldo...but I don't trust that pick guy.

Dude I Agree 100% With You! We Really Blew This Pick! I Mean Seriously we did...We Will See Though....I wont put all my eggs in one basket but I really feel like we should have taken tonsil or THE BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER AVALIBLE. We Definitely didn't stick to our Motto Of "Best Player Available" Because Stanley Was not By Far The Best Available....Wasted Pick....You have the Number 6 pick and you waste it like that...I bet this guy wont even be known after year three...Ozzie Swing and a Miss! Day Two & Beyond NEEDS To BE Grand SLAMS!!!

Remember what the OWNER SAID...STEVE B.."Pass Rushers"

Not of fan of Stanley pick, when any number of defenders sitting there and could have traded back with Titans likeky. Lawson,Hargraves 3,Floyd, etc
I understand LT but when the owner says Pass Rush...get some Pass Rush.

Sizzle and Dum, are Old...need new cornerstones at the position starting with no.36..drafting Noah Spence,Ogbah,Chris Jones someone like that..

Then trading to get extra 3rd... and getting a CB, Cyrus Jones,Zach Sanchez etc
With other pick.. Yannik Nkoue,JordanJenkins

Ironic that you say "trade back with the Titans", who were picking at 15, and then you list a bunch of players who were drafted before #15. Lawson went to Chicago, and Hargreaves went to TB.

Lawson was the only guy available, who I generally like, but isn't likely be a premier pass rusher. I'm not sure he fits great as a 3-4 OLB.

Ironic you try to correct someone and do not get your facts straight.

Lawson was drafted by the Bills. Internet is great if you missed the draft. Lawson would have fit a 3-4 OLB just fine. He plays standing up and hand in the dirt. He is literally very similar to Suggs and has more moves than many other pass rushers from this years draft. If they had traded back to #15 he was the best choice talent and value wise.

When Lawson was drafted, the studio guys said he had a tendancy to be frustrated at times. They then showed a clip of him being dominated by...Ronnie Stanley! Not a sexy pick, but a solid one.

Remember Harbaugh is on the draft selection along with Ozzie, Eric, and Joe. Since the SuperBowl and Ray Lewis retirement the team has been on a clean image cleanse so the rowdy, tough, mean players are no longer on our board, guys like Burfict would have been a Raven before Harbaugh won the SuperBowl.

Time will tell, but we are not the same trying to go this Mr Clean route.

It sounds as though you think this direction is a bad one. Burfict while a good player, has cost his team big at critical times. I can also remember dealing with similar issues of players trying to be bullies instead of just make the play and cost them 15 penalties at the worst time.

Toughness is only good and beneficial when you can control it. Anything else is just a ticking timebomb.

Well said. I liked Bart Scott when he was here, but it seemed everytime we would make a big stop, the ref's would throw a flag because he did something stupid. I think the Ravens definately are always on the look out for tough nosed, passionate ball players, they just want guys that use there heads also.

At the end of the day I can think of a lot worse picks than an athletic, smart, charismatic, young giant of a man who can pass protect like a stud. Satisfied.

With all the O-line problems the last few years (and losing our QB to injury) idk how you could really be upset at such a pick. Could you argue they were others the Ravens should have chosen? Yes.

You know what I see. I see a team that's in a death spiral. Bad contracts, bad player development, questionable draft picks,& revolving door on coaches. and it looks like it heading for a complete house cleaning in about 2 to 3 years. Fact. Ravens finished in third place three years in a row and only on a fluke play did Ravens beat the " bad" Browns. Yea, Ravens beat the Steelers (big deal) who still made it to the playoffs. I keep hoping for something to shine & give hope.

If this means 1) Joe has an additional 1-1.5 seconds to throw downfield, and 2) nobody's going to roll backwards into his leg because he's overmatched and getting manhandled by the D, then I am fine with this pick.

The only other players I wanted us to grab (Ramsey & Bosa) were off the board. I'm good with this one. Let's buffet the D with the solid 2nd and 3rd rounds, and we're on the move.

That's what they say. What's really scary is seeing Ryan Mallett go to Cleavland next year.

Wasn't scary when he was playing terrible in Houston, which wasn't very long ago now was it?

Even more fan overreaction. Now all of the sudden Mallett is a scary QB to face.

Its getting comical at this point.

Agreed. If he can work on his run blocking techniques, he could develop into a perennial all star. he definately has all the tools.

Lol.

I think the death spiral quote has to win the overreaction of the day award.

Tunsil has too many character problems, he was suspended for 7 games in college, hes currently being sued by his step-dad for assault, and the weed picture was just the cherry on the top. According to Mel and Todd McShay both ranked him as #6th best player in the draft before it started...feel free to join other team's bandwagon, I still trust ozzie.

i don't understand how so many people think this is a bad pick and to even think about picking tunsil over stanley even after wathcing the video? It's ridiculous. i am perfectly fine with stanley and believe it's a great pick. It's just that for once, ONCE, i want to see us pick a player at a flashy position. I believe the ravens wanted bosa or ramsey but unfortunately, it didn't happen. I think the chargers were going to go for tunsil but after the video came out, they went with bosa. Oh well, i would be excited if we get spence in the 2nd round or maybe jack (finger crossed)

Overreaction. I guess that's why Ravens finished 3rd in their division 3 straight years. GO drink the kool-aid maybe you can get a promotion.

We needed to protect Flacco after allowing Osemele to walk. No argument with selecting a key offensive line player. To me the issue is did we take the right guy. I'd have preferred us to be on the phone with Tunsil when the story broke laying out a contract he couldn't violate. Oz is trying to take no risks at this stage in his career and he is missing on his picks.

That's the price of winning a SB bud. You just gotta decide if you're the kind of fan who cares about rings or not.
