[News] Will Ronnie Stanley Or Eugene Monroe Start In Week 1?

There is a real likelihood that Monroe gets cut if he continues to be in the doctor's care when the off season program begins...

I still think Urschel wins the job as our new left guard. Wagner has done nothing to be benched at RT, he was very good in 2014 in his first year as a starter and played much better last year once he was healthy again. Plus his cap hit is insignificant. All signs point to Monroe being moved or cut at some point.

Not a sexy pick but I'm not too disappointed when you look how many potential 1st round defenders are available at the beginning of the 2nd round.

But the most annoying thing about Stanley was how he repeatedly called John Harbaugh Jim in his post draft interviews. C'mon man! Show some respect and learn the names of the key people on teams that are potentially going to draft you.

If Monroe was doing anything besides stealing mucho dinero from the Ravens, we wouldn't be drafting his replacement. I like the pick, keeping Flacco vertical is a top priority.

They should just let Stanley play guard next to Monroe at this point to teach him how the game flows. Start right off him easy. Then maybe in the future put him at LT and put Urschal at G. Urschal can be a great depth position as of now.

He is gonna start somewhere on our line next year. The question remains, where? I think he could start out at LG for a year.

As of right now we drafted a backup. He is not straight up beating Monroe, Wagner will be two years removed from his injury and just like Jimmy Smith he got better later in the season. He will more than likely start at guard but he will have to beat Urshel and Jensen

I hope Harbaugh doesn't treat Stanley the way he did Oher. Moving him from one place to another. Never letting him settle in where he belonged. Trying to make him something that he was not. Oher did a fine job at Carolina. Gee I wonder why. Monroe will start. I only hope that his ineptitude doesn't get Joe killed before Stanley is ready to replace him.

This was potentially a horrible pick by the Ravens. This is why I was so adamant about drafting WR Josh Doctson. Move the team forward instead of drafting a position where a player would not start. Its one of those "What If" picks trying to predict the future. We need a no.1 WR which may be no longer available. We are reactionary not visionary.

its monroe job to loose.

Looks like decision was all ready made otherwise Ravens would not have or needed to draft a left tackle. No play makers this year.

Perhaps I'm mistaken but wasn't Monroe tweeting about "never feeling better" and stuff? Was surprised to hear that he was under doctors care

Monroe will say or do anything right now when he doesn't have to play. But, the minute the season starts, his aches and pains resurface rather quickly.

PS: I know that is unkind and unfair even, but heck I'm just frustrated with his situation.

I feel like people are looking at this Stanley pick in the wrong light. Yes this means Monroe is entering the end of his career with us, but that doesn't mean he won't have a 2016 season with us. I can't see Monroe playing past 2016 with Stanley most likely penciled in as starting LT by the time his sophomore season begins; however, that doesn't mean Monroe needs to be cut now. Cutting him next off-season will allow for a much more reasonable amount of dead-money for the final 2 years of his contract, plus a lot of people seems to forget that a healthy Monroe is a quality starting LT. If Monroe can start this year I would want him to, keep Stanley in KO's position at LG for a season or at Wagner's RT position if he still hasn't recovered from his injury (last season was shaky for Wagner but he bounced back toward the end of the season). Worst case OL next season: Stanley LT, Urshal, LG, Zuttah C, the best darn offensive lineman Yanda at RG, and Wagner at RT. Best case Monroe stays healthy: Monroe, Stanley, Zuttah, Yanda, Wagner or maybe Stanley/Monroe, Wagner/Urshal, Zuttah, Yanda, Monroe/Stanley. The point I'm trying to make here is that in none of the above scenarios mention James "Undrafted Rookies shouldn't start at LT" Hurst. We have depth at Tackle and Guard with this pick alone. Add another guard/center in the later round of the draft and the team has solid depth and quality starters. Now go and draft Derrick Henry and we have some really solid youth injected into an offense that is ready to become one of the best in the league.

Dumb question! Monroe isn't even going to be on the roster in week 1!!!!! This is the guy who missed parts of THIRTEEN games last year and 9 the year before. Your QB is rehabbing a knee because of this guy's unreliability. My God, has this day finally come?

Monroe's not inept; he's just rarely on the field

and People are still complaining that we didn't draft smoking pots and injured prone Tunsil? or Ramsey with only 3 INTs in college? when your QB needs a blind side protection badly?

Stanley is the best player in our draft and he will be on the field for a very long time; ummm, that's something we never experience ever since JO retired.....
